Series: What Happens in Vegas #17
Genres: adult, contemporary, Romance
Source: eARC from Publisher
Romance novelist Kelsey Spencer doesn’t believe in love, and she's tired of faking her way through happily ever afters. Determined to change things up, she heads to the Las Vegas Romance Lovers Convention. But somewhere between half-naked cover models and hot Navy SEALs, Kelsey’s plans derail…
Especially once she meets über-fan Jasmine Grant…and Jasmine’s über-hot alphahole brother, Aaron.
Buttoned-up Aaron Grant never thought he’d find himself at a romance convention, but here he is, trying to convince his impulsive sister not to marry a beefcake cover model. His only hope is to enlist the aid of the cynical (and sexy) romance writer his sister worships.
After a sweltering jaunt around Vegas, some strange conference hijinks, and one outrageous proposal, Kelsey and Aaron are left questioning everything they know about romance and love…and if falling in love might just be worth the gamble.
The Right Kind of Guy is part of the What Happens in Vegas series by Kerri-Leigh Grady. This is book 17 in the series. I read book 16 (Hot on His Heels) and to be honest I didn’t love it. But each of the books are written by different authors and the only common denominator between them is that they all take place in Vegas, so i thought what the heck. Let’s give this one a try. And I am glad I did. The summary sounded amusing, and it was. I liked this one more than the last book in the series, but it was only a pretty good read. It didn’t make me leap for joy, but I did enjoy it.
The Right Kind of Guy initially intrigued me because it takes place in a romance writer’s convention and the main character is a decently popular romance author, who doesn’t believe in real life sweep your off your feet romances. I knew right then and there I had to meet Kelsey F**ing Spencer. (that is how one of her fans kept referring to her as.) And I loved Kelsey. I found her to be a breath of fresh air. I can totally see why Aaron was instantly amused by her. I am not sure I got why he was practically stalking her from the moment he met her, but I do get why he liked her.
The Right Kind of Guy is a very quick read that is perfect for a lighthearted afternoon of frivolous fun. It is not a serious read, but it is very cute. The plot is not terribly likely to happen, but just go with it and have fun. This book will have you smiling for sure. It is the first book I have read from author Kerri-Leigh Grady and I really like her writing style. It is very conversational and she clearly enjoyed witty characters. I enjoyed The Right Kind of Guy.

I love the idea of the heroine being a romance author but not believing in romance. I’ll have to add this to my wish list. Thanks for the review 🙂
