{Review} Baking Me Crazy by Karla Sorensen

{Review} Baking Me Crazy by Karla Sorensen

Baking me Crazy is the first book in the contemporary romance, Donner Bakery series by author Karla Sorensen. Not only did I really enjoy this book, but I am so completely in love with the idea behind the book’s publisher- Smartypants Romance. Smartypants Romance is one of my favorite author’s new publishing company, and the coolest part of this company is that they are doing something I have never seen done on this large of a scale before. As you know, Penny Reid is one of my favorite romance authors, and a lot of her stories feature characters in and around the town of Green Valley. (The Winston Brothers series) Smartypants romance is bring on several new authors to write their own series, all set in the Penny Reid universe! See the picture below for all of the series that will be coming out set in the Green Valley world. I love this idea so, so much. It is perfect for new fans and old fans because we get all… Read more »

{Review} Everything Girl by Emily Mayer

{Review} Everything Girl by Emily Mayer

Everything Girl  is a contemporary romance by debut author Emily Mayer. I was first drawn to Everything Girl because the main character mentioned law school and being a lawyer, so I thought I would be able to relate to her as a main character. Plus, I am always down for a good contemporary romance. And Everything Girl turned out to be a fun slow burn romance read that I really enjoyed. In Everything Girl, we meet our main character Evelyn. Evelyn has her life all figured out- go to a great law school, become a lawyer, get a great job, and live happily ever after. Perfect, right? Well, it turns out to be not so perfect. When Evelyn decides she is miserable at her job she decides to take a different path in life, and she finds herself in Pinehaven Ranch in Montana, faced with stinky rodeo champions and no coffee shops. Oh, the horror! Fans of cowboy romances, will really enjoy Emily Mayer’s story. It will become a great… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Lycan’s Blood Queen by Catherine Edward

{Review+Giveaway} Lycan’s Blood Queen by Catherine Edward

Lycan’s Blood Queen is the first in the adult paranormal romance duology called the Randolph Duology, by Catherine Edward. I was very intrigued by the summary of this book, and I love books that feature more than one kind of creature because I really enjoy reading about different authors takes on paranormal creatures. The Randolph Duology features Lycans, Vampires and Witches. A classic mix, but we get to see a twist on one of the creatures which I really enjoyed. Lycan’s Blood Queen had a bit of a rocky start. I was confused when I first started reading. I didn’t know what was going on and I wasn’t getting to know any of the characters very well. Honestly, I almost put the book down and went to try something else. But I decided to keep reading to see if the pieces came together for me, and I am very glad that I did. I ended up really enjoying Lycan’s Blood Queen, and I am certainly very interested in reading the… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} No More Bad Dates by Kate O’Keeffe

{Review+Giveaway} No More Bad Dates by Kate O’Keeffe

No More Bad Dates is an adult contemporary romantic comedy by Kate O’Keeffe. It is the first book in the high tea series, which is taglined as a cozy cottage cafe story. I am unsure at the moment if all of the books in the series will be standalones or if you will need to read them in order. If I had to guess, I would think they are will be set in the same world, but will all act as standalone cozy romances. I have to say I don’t love the cover because it reminds me too much of Barbie, but I do love the story setup. In No More Bad Dates we meet our main character Sophie, who gets dumped at a wedding by a royal jerk. Because, seriously…who does that??! Oh don’t worry, he had a great reason. Because Sophie has been burned one too many times, she decides to have her friends help her pick out guys to date before she dates them. This is an… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Forever Chosen by K.L. Bone

{Review+Giveaway} Forever Chosen by K.L. Bone

Forever Chosen is an adult paranormal romance novella in the vampire brides series. The books in the vampire brides series are each standalones, so they can be read in any order, and they are all written by different authors and have different lengths and heat levels. I like the concept behind a series like this, and I think it would be perfect if you are craving some vampire romance. My problem is I think I am just over vampires at the moment. Most of the time, they don’t feel unique or different enough, and that was kind of my experience with Forever Chosen. This book was ok. It was well written and the story and characters were fine. It just didn’t excite me because I didn’t really want to be reading about vampires. That is entirely a me issue, not a book issue. I think if you are in the mood for a vampire romance, this book and this series will be right up your alley. Forever Chosen is the… Read more »

{Review} Space by Penny Reid

{Review} Space by Penny Reid

Space is the second book in the Laws of Physics series by Author Penny Reid. But to make things a bit confusing, the Laws of Physics series is the second trilogy series in the Hypothesis series. Each of the trilogy follows a new set of characters, but at least one of the main characters is tied to science. And I love a nerdy romance. Especially if Penny Reid is the author. I think you all know by now that she is one of my very favorite authors of all time. I loved the first book, Motion soo much ( you can check out my review HERE) Space picks up a few years after the events from Motion left off, with Mona running off on Abram, and replacing herself with her twin sister Lisa. (if any of this sounds confusing to you, then you need to go back and read motion because this is a series that does need to be read in order.) I loved Motion so much, but I… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Battlefield Love by Skyler Andra & Mila Young

{Review+Giveaway} Battlefield Love by Skyler Andra & Mila Young

Battlefield Love is the first book in the new adult operation cupid series by Skyler Andra & Mila Young. The operation cupid series is a mythology and fantasy romance, that has a really cool premise. You all know I am a sucker for anything mythology, and I love Mila Young’s Gods and Monster’s series so much, so I was extra excited to see what they would do with another mythology series. The coolest part of Battlefield Love is the world setup and the treatment of the gods of greek and roman mythology. I did have a small issue with one aspect of the story, but I love the setup and Battlefield Love has all of the makings and potential to be an awesome series. I can’t wait for the next book. In Battlefield Love we meet our main character, Locke is just a normal woman, until Eros (the Roman version of Cupid) pulls her into the world of Gods and their human Avatars. The concept of Avatars is one that… Read more »

{Release Day Review} THE DRAGON OF NEW ORLEANS by GENEVIEVE JACK

{Release Day Review} THE DRAGON OF NEW ORLEANS by GENEVIEVE JACK

The Dragon of New Orleans is the first in the adult fantasy series, The Treasure of Paragon, by author Genevieve Jack. I enjoyed this book, and I think I will likely continue on with the series, but it didn’t blow me away like I was hoping it would. It is no secret that I love fantasy books, and I have been very into dragon tropes for the past 6 months or so. The Dragon of New Orleans was a good book and there were many things that I really enjoyed about it, but it was not my favorite dragon related story in the romance department. But first, let’s start with the elements of the story that I really enjoyed. I loved that the world building in the novel. I thought Raven’s abilities, and bloodlines were really interesting, and Paragon was very cool. Both are something I look forward to exploring and learning more about in the next installment. I loved some of the secondary characters, as well as the curse… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} MOTION by Penny Reid

Motion is the first book in the Laws of Physics series by Author Penny Reid. But to make things a bit confusing, the Laws of Phsyics series is the second trilogy series in the Hypothesis series. Each of the trilogy follows a new set of characters, but at least one of the main characters is tied to science. And I love a nerdy romance. Especially if Penny Reid is the author. I think you all know by now that she is one of my very favorite authors of all time. And Motion is pretty high up there on the list of favorites as well. I loved this book so much, and I am DYING to get my hands on the second book in the series, which is slated to be released sometime next month. In Motion we meet Mona, who is a twin. Her sister is Lisa, and they are both daughters of celebrities of some kind. But Mona is a celebrity of her own kind (in the science world… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Haven Realm Boxset by Mila Young

{Review+Giveaway} Haven Realm Boxset by Mila Young

The Haven Realm Boxset is a bindup in the first three books in the Haven Realm series by Mila Young. Each of the books in the Haven Realm series is a standalone set in the same magical world of Haven. I think this is a really cool idea, especially since each of the books is a imagining of a different fairy tale. In the box set we have the stories of Little Red Riding hood, Beauty and the beast, and Rapunzel. For my review today, I am reviewing Scarlet’s story in the box set today, but I have read the first two and am currently reading the third story. They are all a lot of fun. They are each standalone books, but they are on the shorter side. Probably around 200-250 pages each, which is nice because they are longer than novellas, but still on the shorter side, so you can read them very quickly. Scarlet is an herbalist, and she finds herself in the middle of a wolf attack,… Read more »
