{Review} The Upside to Being Single by Emma Hart @EmmaHartAuthor

{Review} The Upside to Being Single by Emma Hart @EmmaHartAuthor

The Upside to Being Single is a romantic comedy by author Emma Hart. This book was a ton of fun, from the New Orleans setting to the awesome banter between the main character and her boss. The Upside to Being Single is currently listed as a standalone, but the main character, Mellie has two best friends who are pretty much additional main characters Peyton and Chloe. Peyton is getting her own book, which is the start of the upcoming Experiment series, and Chloe’s story is slated to be the second book in that duet, so in my mind this is really the first book in the set of interconnected standalone trilogy for Mellie and her friends. I really enjoyed The Upside to Being Single. It is full of humor and lots of unresolved sexual tension. IN fact, there may have been just a tad too much of it. I felt like by the time something actually happened between Mellie and Jake, the book was almost over. That bummed me out a little… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Unconditionally by Erin Lyon @forgereads ‏@WritingLyon ‏

Unconditionally is the second book in the adult romantic comedy series called Contract Killers by Erin Lyon. I loved the first book, I love you,  Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions (See my review here). The contract Killer series is set in a world where the concept of marriage has turned into a series of seven year contracts. At the end of your contract term, you and your partner can choose whether or not to re-sign for another term of years. Unconditionally is part two of Kate’s duology. In the first book, she is blindsided by her partner when he doesn’t want to re-sign, which sets of a change in Kate’s life. We follow Kate as she navigates a new job and lots of new lover interests. It ended on a nasty cliffhanger, but Unconditionally picks up the day after book one ended and we get to see the continuation to Kate’s story. I loved Unconditionally even more than I loved the first book, and I think that has everything to… Read more »

{Release Day Review++Excerpt+Giveaway} Trapped by Rhonda Pollero

{Release Day Review++Excerpt+Giveaway} Trapped by Rhonda Pollero

Trapped is a romantic suspense novel by Rhonda Pollero. It is the third book in the Finding Justice Series. The Finding Justice series follows a set of brothers, but each of the books can be read as standalones. This was the first book in the series I have read, and I didn’t have any problems following the story and the characters. Trapped really did read like a true standalone. I enjoyed both the romance and the suspense aspect of the story, though maybe I did enjoy the romance aspect a tad bit more. Trapped follows Declan and Chasyn. I was initially attracted to this book because of the legal aspect of the story. I am a sucker for anything having to do with law. And I did enjoy the trial part of the story, but Chasyn’s character fell a little short for me. She is a paralegal, which I thought was a great tie in. But sometimes I just couldn’t figure out why she was doing some of the things she was… Read more »

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Totally His by @ErinNicholas #ReadForever @ForeverRomance

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Totally His by @ErinNicholas #ReadForever @ForeverRomance

Totally His is the third book in the Opposites Attract  series by Erin Nicholas. Each of the books can be read as standalones, and they are each contemporary romances. Totally His is the first book in the series that I have read, but I really enjoyed it. It totally hit the spot. I have been reading lots of heavy duty fantasies lately, which I have been absolutely loving, but I did forget how much I enjoy a lighthearted- feel good romance. And Totally His was just that. It was exactly what I needed to break up all the intense books I have been reading. Totally His is the story of Sophie and Finn. I immediately loved Sophie and Finn. Their first encounter was pretty funny. Sophie owns a theater, and Finn is called to the scene of a theater on fire and he is greeted by a woman in a robe and pink fuzzy slippers trying to sneak back into the building. Sophie will do anything she can to save her theater. Insert into… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Hangry by Lily Kate

{Review+Giveaway} Hangry by Lily Kate

Hangry is a contemporary romantic comedy by author Lily Kate. I thoroughly enjoyed Hangry. For those of you that don’t know, Hangry is a word to describe people that get angry or irritable when they are hungry. It is just as hilarious as the title and summary lead you to believe that it is. This book had me laughing pretty much non-stop from beginning to end. If you are looking for a book that is a flat out good time, give Hangry a try. I can’t wait to read more novels from Lily Kate. Hangry is a romance as well. It is the story of Lexi and Bradley. Lexi cannot stand Bradley, but when she gets so hangry she can’t stand it anymore she “sells her soul” for a hamburger. (Seriously, just thinking about this book has me grinning like a fool.) Lexi and Bradley are hilarious together. There is tons of URST, and the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts! Whatever you do, don’t write… Read more »

{Review} I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions by Erin Lyon @forgereads ‏@WritingLyon ‏

{Review} I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions by Erin Lyon @forgereads ‏@WritingLyon ‏

I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions is the first book in the adult romantic comedy series called Contract Killers by Erin Lyon. I loved this book. As soon as I read the title, I knew I was going to love this book. (The title still cracks me up.) I love you,  Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions (hereinafter “I Love You”) (see, I can be lawyer funny too…) is set in a world where the concept of marriage has turned into a series of seven year contracts. At the end of your contract term, you and your partner can choose whether or not to re-sign for another term of years. How romantic, right? This book is marketed as, “27 Dresses meets Bridget Jones’s Diary for the millennial set”, which I think is spot on. I really really enjoyed every moment of this book. In fact, when I got to the last page, I kept trying to turn for more. I need more! I’m really hoping that the contract killers series is… Read more »

{Review} All I Need by Callie Harper

{Review} All I Need by Callie Harper

All I need is the fourth book in the adult romance All In series by Callie Harper. I didn’t realize this book was part of a series while I was reading it, so suffice it to say it can be read as a standalone. I would be interested in seeing who the previous three books featured. I wasn’t sure if there was character overlap in this world or if they are really standalones. All I need had a contemporary beauty and the beast vibe. I enjoyed this book throughout, but it didn’t blow me away. The writing and romance were good, but I think the main male character rubbed me the wrong way so I didn’t fall head over heels with him. All I need is told in dual narrative between Annie and Ian. Annie is hired by Ian’s father to be a live in caretaker for Ian, who was injured as a teenager in a boating accident. I liked Annie but Ian was way too much for me. Too much… Read more »

{ARC Review} Need You by Stacy Finz @sfinz @KensingtonBooks ‏

{ARC Review} Need You by Stacy Finz @sfinz @KensingtonBooks ‏

Need You by Stacy Finz is the first book in the Garner Brothers series. The Garner Brothers series will be a series of interconnected standalone romances, set in a small mountain town on the west coast. I enjoyed Need You by Stacy Finz. I thought it was an enjoyable story and I loved getting to know the people in the town. I think this is a series I will look forward to continuing. In the end, this book didn’t blow me away, but it was a good read. Here is what I liked about Need You: I loved the small town setting. I thought the town sounded beautiful. I loved that it was surrounded by mountains and lakes. And I really love that in a small town book you really get to know a wide group of secondary characters. Especially when the series is going to be set up to be a group of interconnected standalones. Now all of the secondary characters can really come to life throughout the books…. Read more »
