My Thoughts

Vows & Ruins is the second book in the adult fantasy romance series The Legends of Thezmarr by the amazing Helen Scheuerer. As always, I am BLOWN away by her writing and fantasy world building. Blood & Steel was one of the best books I read last year, and I have read it 4 times already. I had to read Vows & Ruins twice before I was able to compile my thoughts into something somewhat cohesive. In fact, these characters have been living rent free in my head non-stop since finishing the book. I am obsessed with Thea and Wilder. This series is one of the best fantasy series I have ever read. Yes, I said it and I will say it again- these are some of the best fantasy books EVER!

In Vows & Ruins, we pick up right where we left off at the end of book one. Thea and Wilder are trying to keep their distance from one another (well one of them is…) but I knew there is no way they would be able to. And I am so happy I was right. These two are magnetic and electric.(which is especially funny for Thea) Their chemistry and romance sizzled right off the pages. I highlighted the heck out of this book because I will just never be able to get enough of these two. Thea and Wilder are up there in the ranks of my favorite bookish couple ever.

I need to know what is going to happen next. This book is not just romance. Helen is a master storyteller, with epic worldbuilding and writing that will keep you flipping pages as fast as you can, even when you are trying to savor every word. The plot of Vows & Ruins was every bit as epic and brutal and amazing as the first book. It had plenty of twists and turns, with Wilder and Thea now as warsword and apprentice they spent a lot of time together trying to help stop the impending spread of evil and also trying to piece together more bits of Thea and Wren from their past. Helen has captures my entire being with The Legends of Thezmaar series, and I am completely desperate for the next book. The ending of this one was particularly brutal, and I am in no way over it.

If you are looking for a fantasy romance that is going to grip you from the first page and never let go, you need to read this series. Helen writes some of my favorite fantasy books ever. If you love tension filled hot looks, great dialogue, characters that will make you fall head over heels in love and a plot that will make you wish the book would never end- this is your book.
