{Excerpt+$150 BaubleBar💎Giveaway} Stealing Mr. Right by @Tamara_Morgan

{Excerpt+$150 BaubleBar💎Giveaway} Stealing Mr. Right by @Tamara_Morgan

We’re so excited for Tamara Morgan’s new Penelope Blue series! The first book, Stealing Mr. Right comes out on March 7th! Penelope Blue is a wanted jewel thief who’s married to Grant Emerson, a federal agent. What’s that saying? Keep your friends close…and your husband closer 🙂 To celebrate, we’re giving away a $150 gift card to BaubleBar – so you don’t have to steal precious jewels like Penelope Blue 🙂   His voice was softer than I expected: low but controlled, the sound of an authority figure who knows he doesn’t have to shout to be heard. I’ve since realized that’s the most dangerous kind of man to go up against in a fight. He didn’t bluster and yell the way Riker did, and he didn’t speak in terse rebukes, the way I remember my dad doing when I made an error in the middle of a job. Grant was all control and manners. I hadn’t expected manners. “I’ve never seen a man so intrigued by concrete before,” I… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Hometown Cowboy by Sara Richardson

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Hometown Cowboy by Sara Richardson

Hometown Cowboy is the first book in the adult contemporary romance Rocky Mountain Riders series by Sara Richardson. This is the first book I have read by Sara, but it won’t be my last because I really enjoyed this cute read. It was a quick and satisfying, (mostly) fluffy read. Fans of small town romances will enjoy Hometown Cowboy, and the cast of characters will leave you excited to journey back to this town for future couple’s stories. Hometown Cowboy is Jessa and Lance’s tale. Lance starts out as a cocky son of a gun, and Jessa is sweet as pie. I was a little worried that he was going to be too much of a jerk for sweet little Jessa Mae, but surprisingly he won me over. They worked well together. The book follows a bit of a predictable plotline, but it turned out just the way I wanted  it to. My favorite part of all was the chemistry between Jessa and Lance. They have chemistry and URST in… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} CHAIN REACTION by Tara Wyatt

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} CHAIN REACTION by Tara Wyatt

Chain Reaction is the third, and final book, in the adult romantic suspense, Bodyguard series by Tara Wyatt. I have not read either of the first two books in the series, however; I have a thing for bodyguard stories, so when I saw Chain Reaction float into my email, I couldn’t pass it up. The books can be read as standalones, and I had no problem picking up with this installment. The plot sounds yummy, and it totally was! I really enjoyed this steamy bodyguard tale. There is lots of bickering, plenty of action and a sexy romance. Yes, please. Chain Reaction is Alexa and Zack’s story. This book has so many things going for it. First, a bodyguard. Second, an undercover bodyguard and third a fake turned real romance. Bodyguards and fake romances, I am all over this book. It was such a fun read. However; with as many fun and sexy elements as this book had, the actual plotline of the story was also pretty creepy. The suspense… Read more »

{Giveaway} Book Briefs 6 Year Blogoversary!

{Giveaway} Book Briefs 6 Year Blogoversary!

I have come such a long way in the past 6 years. When I started back in 2011 I was in my first year of law school. Since then I have graduated, passed the bar exam and I have been an attorney for 3 years already. (That is still kind of crazy to me.) I found a job that I love, and my blog has been there with me every step of the way. When I first started my blog, I had no idea about indie or self published authors, and in the past 6 years I have discovered some of my favorite authors were indies! I have made so many great friends in bloggers and authors, and I want to share some of it with you. I never thought that anyone would read and follow my blog, let alone over 19,000 of you! The fact that I have that many followers continually blows my mind. One of my favorite parts about blogging is finding new authors, and new blogs,… Read more »

{Author Interview} Riven by Jane Alvey Harris

Today I am really excited to have Author Jane Alvey Harris here as part of my 6 year Blogoversary, for an interview. I will have a couple of interviews from authors today and tomorrow, and today there is going to be a HUGE giveaway with so many awesome prizes! (and one of the prizes will be a copy of this book! hinthintwinkwink! So be sure to come back in a bit and check it out!) What inspired you to create Riven and the My Myth Trilogy series? Honestly, when I began writing Riven, I was just looking for relief. I was struggling through a really dark time in my life and was doing therapy with an amazing counselor who encouraged me to write. I didn’t have a synopsis or even an outline; I was just writing scenes from my head and connecting them together. It took me a couple years to get the first draft out and even longer to realize what the story was really about. Somewhere in the… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Weariland by @MaryEShotwell @MergePublishing

{Review+Giveaway} Weariland by @MaryEShotwell @MergePublishing

Weariland is a young adult fantasy retelling by Mary Shotwell. Weariland is perfect for fans new and old alike of alice in wonderland. Weariland is a modern day take on wonderland. I really enjoyed this story. You might know by now that Wonderland retellings are my favorite kind of retelling, because I feel like there is so much the author has to work with. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite classics. I love how magical it all is, there are so many cool characters to work with. Wonderland is a complete world, so there are just a million different directions a retelling can go. Weariland takes place a few generations after the story of Wonderland leaves off. Here we get to see Alice’s granddaughter, Lason. And Wonderland is not the same place we knew from the classic tale. It is now a place called weariland and the Queen of Souls rules over the land. I loved this broken and creepy concept. This felt like a dark tale. I… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Any Boy But You by @JulieHammerle @EntangledTeen

{Review+Giveaway} Any Boy But You by @JulieHammerle @EntangledTeen

Any Boy but You is the first book in the young adult contemporary romance series, called North Pole Minnesota by Julie Hammerle. I have Julie’s other book, the Sound of Us sitting on my TBR pile, but after having read Any Boy But You, I need to bump it up the pile. Because Any Boy But You was super cute. I loved the concept behind it. Elena and Oliver start texting anonymously through a popular app game, but little do they know they are from rival sporting goods families. I cracked up when I saw the concept behind the story. Like a modern day Romeo and Juliet, but for the texting and app generation. It was super cute. I totally dug the fun and flirty writing style, and I adored the characters. The book is set up in my favorite narration style as well…dual narrative with both Elena and Oliver’s points of view. The writing in Any Boy But You is great. It is quipy, with plenty of pop culture… Read more »
