{Review} Artificial Sweethearts by @JulieHammerle ‏@EntangledTeen

Artificial Sweethearts by Julie Hammerle is the second book in the young adult contemporary North Pole, Minnesota series. I liked the first book in the series, Any Boy But You, but I enjoyed this book even more! Each of the books in the North Pole Minnesota series can be read as standalones, so you don’t have to read them in order, though if given the choice, I always prefer to read a series in order. Elena, the girl from the first book, only makes very small appearances in this story, so there isn’t much overlap. Artificial Sweethearts is the story of Sam and Tinka. I flat out loved Sam. He is the biggest sweetheart on the planet. And Tinka is so fabulously complex that I found her fascinating. Overall, this couple won me over. Here are the things that I loved about Artificial Sweethearts. Sam and Tinka are up front with each other right off the bat. That was so refreshing to see. Yes, Tinka had her own secrets that… Read more »

{Mini Review+Excerpt+ Giveaway} A SEAL’S COURAGE by JM Stewart

{Mini Review+Excerpt+ Giveaway} A SEAL’S COURAGE by JM Stewart

A SEAL’S COURAGE by JM Stewart is the first book in the military match series. I really enjoyed A Seal’s Courage. I thought it was a great start to series I am excited to read more of. A Seal’s Courage is told in dual narrative between Lauren and Trent, which as you may know is my favorite narration style for contemporary romances. It pairs two tropes that I have really been enjoying lately, best friends brother and online matchmaking, so I was pretty sure this book was going to be a hit with me, but I didn’t know just how much until I started reading. I fell in love with all of the emotion in A Seal’s Courage. Lauren and trent are matched up on a military men dating site. I really enjoyed the flow of A Seal’s Courage. This one was a great read for me. I can’t wait for more.  Enter to win 1 of 15 free ebook downloads of A SEAL’S COURAGE! http://bit.ly/2tlQOfv Note: Book Briefs Contest Policy applies.  All of the prizes,… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Why I Loathe Sterling Lane by @IngridEPaulson @EntangledTeen

{Review+Giveaway} Why I Loathe Sterling Lane by @IngridEPaulson @EntangledTeen

Why I Loathe Sterling Lane is a young adult contemporary romance by Ingrid Paulson. Why I Loathe Sterling Lane felt kind of like 10 Things I hate about you, which is a movie that I love. It was a really fun read, and I would love to see more from these characters. Why I Loathe Sterling Lane is a standalone novel, but I really want to see a second book, maybe when Harper and Sterling are in college. That would be a lot of fun. Why I Loathe Sterling Lane is the story of Harper and Sterling. It is told from Harper’s point of view. Harper lives her life by a crazy, and rigid set of rules. Sterling Lane comes blowing into her life and throws all of her rules into chaos. I got a total kick out of Harper and Sterling. They were so similar it was kind of scary. I liked that they recognized that in one another as well. One of my favorite parts of the book was when Sterling… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Julia Defiant @ByCatherineEgan @KnopfBFYR ‏

I have been totally loving reading books in a series back to back. This is the summer of the binge read for me. So I decided to do that with books one and two in the Witch’s Child series. So this is a combined review for books one and two in the Witch’s Child series by Catherine Egan. The first two books in the Witch’s Child Series by Catherine Egan are Julia Vanishes and Julia Defiant. The books got a beautiful new cover change for the release of the second book. While I really liked the original covers, I love the new covers. I am a big fan of the cover change and now I want to get both books with matching new covers. #BookBloggerProblems lol The Witch’s Child series is a really interesting one for me, because it is one of the few series that I ended up liking the second book way, way more than I liked the first book. I found the first book, Julia Vanishes… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Year of Four by @TheNyaJade

{Review+Giveaway} The Year of Four by @TheNyaJade

The Year of Four is the first book in the Phoebe Pope series by Nya Jade. The Phoebe Pope series is a young adult paranormal romance featuring a magical boarding school for shifters. You all know I am a sucker for a magical school setting, and this one was particularly cool for two reasons. One, it sits below a normal boarding school, and the students attend classes both “above” and “below”. I loved the mixing of the students from the two schools, and I really loved the idea that the regular school “hid” the shifter school. And the second reason I loved this setting was that this was no ordinary school for shifters…no this was a secret spy school. Where they are training animal shifters of all kinds to be spies! How awesome is that? I have never seen this spin the boarding school idea and I couldn’t wait to dive into the series. I also really, really love the cover changes the series got. I think the new covers… Read more »

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Gallowglass by Jennifer Allis Provost

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Gallowglass by Jennifer Allis Provost

Gallowglass is the first book in the adult paranormal romance series of the same name by author Jennifer Allis Provost. I enjoyed Gallowglass and I am excited to continue on with the series. I found this one to be a bit slow in parts, but the characters and the story line, along with the promise of where the series can go was enough to keep me interested in the story the whole time. This book felt more like a foundational book for the series. I think with the foundation to the story laid out, the rest of the books will be even better for me. There were so many elements that I really enjoyed in Gallowglass so I am going to quickly list the things I loved, and then I would encourage you to check out the excerpt above if you think this is the type of book that would interest you. I loved the setting. I have always wanted to visit Scotland, and I adore books that take place there. I… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Forbidden Promises by @katee_robert @Barclay_PR

{Review+Giveaway} Forbidden Promises by @katee_robert @Barclay_PR

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert delivers the next book in her sizzling O’Malleys family series, hailed as “The Godfather meets Romeo & Juliet.” FORBIDDEN PROMISES features Sloan O’Malley and her mysterious new next-door neighbor, Jude MacNamara. Forbidden Promises is the fourth book in the contemporary romance series, called The O’Malleys by author Katee Robert. I have read several of Katee’s books in the past and really enjoyed the steamy romance, including book one in The O’Malleys. The Marriage Contract,  so I couldn’t wait to continue this series. I enjoyed getting to know some of the O’Malleys, and this is a series that I really want to go back and read books 2 and 3, which I missed. This series follows the three powerful Boston families- the O’Malleys, the Hallorans, and the Sheridans. Forbidden Promises follows Sloan and Jude. Sloan is an O’Malley, and Jude is out for Sheridan blood. If I thought The Marriage Pact was intense, the stakes were notched up even higher in this book. While, I was… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} When Danger Bites by Heather Long

{Review+Giveaway} When Danger Bites by Heather Long

When Danger Bites by Heather Long is the first book in the Bravo Team WOLF series. I enjoyed this book. It has been awhile since I have read an adult paranormal romance, and I forgot how much I enjoy them. When Danger Bites was a good start to the series, but it kind of felt like there was a lot of build up, and a lot of working up to the romance in this one. Overall, I liked the story, but I felt like the romance moved a little bit too slow for my liking. When Danger Bites is the story of Kat and Jax. I really, really loved Kat and Jax. I was rooting for them pretty much from the beginning, which is why I think I wanted them to get together a little faster. Because it was so clear to me they are dynamite together. Kat is sent in to join a special ops team and to figure out what is going on with them, and Jax is… Read more »

{Review} Kill All Happies by @RachelCohn @HyperionTeens

{Review} Kill All Happies by @RachelCohn @HyperionTeens

Kill all Happies is a standalone young adult contemporary novel by Rachel Cohn. I know this is going to sound crazy, but this is the first book I have read by Rachel. Kill All Happies is a story of a senior class’ last hurrah. And boy oh boy is it one heck of a night for them. I really enjoyed this crazy over the top story. It was a lot of fun to read. It was certainly not like any graduation party I have seen in real life, but I am sure graduation parties like this have taken place many times. Rachel Cohn has a very snappy and funny writing style. It was one of the things I enjoyed most about the story. The first page of the book had me laughing out loud, which I knew was going to a sign of great things to come. Happies is a local restaurant, that also has an amusement park?! What? How could something that sounds that cool, close down? Victoria, or… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Groupie by @susanmdaugherty

{Review+Giveaway} Groupie by @susanmdaugherty

Groupie is the first book in the series of the same name by Susan Daugherty. Groupie is a new adult/adult rock star romance. I enjoyed Groupie. I had a few character issues that kept me from falling head over heels in love with it, but I ended up liking the story quite a bit. Groupie is rock star romance between a country music artist and his PT. This is part one in this couple’s story, so it does end things a little unfinished. Overall, Groupie was a good read. Groupie is the story of Lexie and Jack. My main issue with this story was Lexie, I am sorry to say. She irked me. I didn’t totally hate her. I actually really liked most of her genuine interactions with Jack, but she is so judgey. Judgey to the point that it felt like overkill to me. But I suppose you can also say that she is honest with her opinions of people and of groupies. I really liked Jack. I thought he… Read more »
