{Review+Giveaway} Dragonslayer by Duncan M. Hamilton

{Review+Giveaway} Dragonslayer by Duncan M. Hamilton

Dragonslayer is the first book in the epic fantasy series of the same name by author Duncan Hamilton. I have been so into fantasies lately and I have always been intrigued by and love books that feature dragons, so I knew this was going to be right up my alley. The cover of this book drew me in immediately, and it kind of reminded me of the Eragon series. Though I will say, Dragonslayer is more adult and is more on the epic fantasy scale. I am super excited to read the next book in this series. The world was confusing for me at times, but that can sometimes be the case in Epic fantasy, and Duncan Hamilton does include a world map, which really helps when I am trying to place things for context. Dragonslayer is the story of Guillot dal Villevauvais, also known as Gill. Once Gill rescues Solene, the story really started to take off for me. Solene was more interesting to me than Gill because… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Thirteenth Guardian by K.M. Lewis

{Review+Giveaway} The Thirteenth Guardian by K.M. Lewis

The Thirteenth Guardian is the first book in the young adult trilogy by the same name by author K.M. Lewis. The Thirteenth Guardian is like the DaVinci Code mashed with a re occurrence of the plagues of Egypt. It is a whirlwind adventure from start to finish. I really got swept up in this book, and though there was a bit much going on at times, it was a really well done novel, and it has left me excited to continue on in the trilogy. I really need to see what is going to happen next! Be warned though, this series is about the apocalypse. There are a series of natural disasters that threaten to destroy earth, so be forewarned about that going into the series. In The Thirteenth Guardian, we meet a group of six strangers that find themselves inexplicably bound together. The first of the strangers that we meet is Avery, but the book is told from all of their perspectives, switching off between chapters with each of… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Wolves & Monsters by Dyan Chick

{Review+Giveaway} Wolves & Monsters by Dyan Chick

Wolves & Monsters is the first book in the Siren Problems series by Dyan Chick. The Siren problems series is a new adult paranormal romance series. I thought this was a good first book. It is a little on the short side and it is very, very action packed so if you are looking for a fast paced read with a second chance romance and adventure, this is going to be a great quick fix book for you. Not to mention, it is has wet my appetite for more in the siren problem series. I don’t get to read too many books featuring a siren as the main character, so I was immediately intrigued by our main character Angie. Angie is a siren that feels like she is cursed. Every man that she has ever been with has died shortly thereafter. So when she actually fell in love for the first time, she high tailed it out of town so she couldn’t kill him. But her newest death by siren… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} The Boyfriend Bid by @JodieAndrefski @EntangledTeen

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} The Boyfriend Bid by @JodieAndrefski @EntangledTeen

The Boyfriend Bid is a young adult contemporary romance by author Jodie Andrefski. The Boyfriend Bid was a really cute romance story from Engalanged Teen’s Crush line. I am always happy to pick up a new book by their crush imprint because I always know what I can trust to get out of the story. I always know it is going to be a super cute romance, with great characters and a healthy dose of heart, mostly done in a high school setting. And The Boyfriend Bid delivered on all of those elements. There was one aspect of the story that bothered me but it didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. In the Boyfriend Bid we meet our two main characters, Sarah and Chance. Chance is the school’s new guy and Sarah starts off pretty closed off to him. At first Sarah was a bit offputting to me because she was so, soo guarded, but watching Chance knock down her walls one brick at a time was… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Haven Realm Boxset by Mila Young

{Review+Giveaway} Haven Realm Boxset by Mila Young

The Haven Realm Boxset is a bindup in the first three books in the Haven Realm series by Mila Young. Each of the books in the Haven Realm series is a standalone set in the same magical world of Haven. I think this is a really cool idea, especially since each of the books is a imagining of a different fairy tale. In the box set we have the stories of Little Red Riding hood, Beauty and the beast, and Rapunzel. For my review today, I am reviewing Scarlet’s story in the box set today, but I have read the first two and am currently reading the third story. They are all a lot of fun. They are each standalone books, but they are on the shorter side. Probably around 200-250 pages each, which is nice because they are longer than novellas, but still on the shorter side, so you can read them very quickly. Scarlet is an herbalist, and she finds herself in the middle of a wolf attack,… Read more »

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Kill Code by Luna Kayne

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Kill Code by Luna Kayne

Kill Code is a romantic suspense novel by author Luna Kayne. It is the first book in a trilogy. I enjoyed Kill Code. I thought some parts of the beginning were a bit slow, but overall this book was a good foundation for what is going to be an eventful trilogy. And Kill Code definitely was a novel that built as it went on. The ending was more than I expected. It certainly set us up for an interesting second novel. Kill Code follows a special forces team in search of a group of hackers. I love anything involving hackers, so I was excited to learn more about what was going on. I liked the characters, and the romance was certainly pretty steamy in parts. I liked the balance of the romantic elements with the obvious suspenseful atmosphere throughout the story. I really liked that this was a reunion of sorts for our main characters. It was cool that Jessa and jack knew each other from several years back. They… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Court of Memories by Dyan Chick

{Review+Giveaway} Court of Memories by Dyan Chick

Court of Memories is the second book in the forbidden queen series by author Dyan Chick. The forbidden queen series is a fae based fantasy romance series, and it does pick up right where the first book ends off. So you do need to read this series in order. I read the first book just a few months ago, and it did take me a minute to gain my bearings back into this world again. (because 2018 has been the year of fae romances for me. I just can’t get enough of them!) I will also say, that the forbidden queen series is a reverse harem romance, so there are multiple love interests in this book. If that is something that bugs you or is not up your alley, then this might not be  the series for you. But I also have to say, I have really been enjoying reverse harem books this year. The power of five series is one of my favorite series of all time, and they… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Your Sound by Katia Rose

{Review+Giveaway} Your Sound by Katia Rose

Your Sound is the third book in the Sherbrooke Station series by author Katia Rose. Each of the books in the Sherbrooke Station series can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read either of the first two books, but I did really enjoy Your Sound. I don’t read a ton of books about rock stars or musicians, it is not something I want to read about too often, but every now and then I see a book that catches my eye. And that happened with Your Sound. I think it was the way the main characters were described. I felt instantly connected to Molly and JP, in a way that I can’t really explain. I just knew that as soon as I saw the summary for this book, I knew it was a romance I wouldn’t want to miss. And I was right, I did love Molly and JP. I really felt for Molly. I could certainly relate to her. She gets so nervous and anxious around people that… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} An Assassin’s Guide to Love and Treason by Virginia Boecker

{Review+Giveaway} An Assassin’s Guide to Love and Treason by Virginia Boecker

An Assassin’s Guide to Love and Treason is a young adult historical fiction by Virginia Boecker. I loved this book. Honestly, it reminded me of all the reasons why I love a well crafted young adult historical fiction. This book was giving me major Cindy Antsy vibes, which is a huge compliment in my opinion, but with more adventure dashed in. I also really loved that this book is a standalone novel. An Assassin’s Guide to Love and Treason is a fun read full of shakespearean drama, spies, secrets and great characters. An Assassin’s Guide to Love and Treason is told in multiple perspectives, which was a bit hard to follow at first, because there are so many characters, but once I met allt eh players so to speak, it was easier for me to keep track of everyone and of their points of view. I am not going to lie, one of the big immediate selling points for me is the fact that it takes place in Shakespeare’s London, which is… Read more »

{Review} #1 MUSE by T. Gephart

{Review} #1 MUSE by T. Gephart

#1 MUSE is the fifth book in the #1 series by T. Gephart. Each of the books in the series are romantic comedies, but they do not need to be read in order. This is the first book in the series I have checked out so far and, while it was more than a little far fetched, it was a lot of fun. In Muse, we meet Claire, who is an out of work screen writing in LA, who is looking for a show or movie to be a writer on. On the side, she also pens some fanfiction featuring one of her favorite actors, Nick. When her fanfiction accidentally ends up in Nick’s possession, Claire will do anything to get it back. What results is a whirlwind romance that was a lot of fun to read about.  I love both Claire and Nick. In fact, I loved the whole cast of characters, because Claire’s friends were also pretty awesome. Claire is a very capable woman, and I appreciate how… Read more »
