{Interview} Falling in Danger by Kaylie Newell

{Interview} Falling in Danger by Kaylie Newell

Thank you very much for being here at Book Briefs today Kaylie. Thank you for having me!  I’m excited to be here- 1. Describe Falling in Danger in Twitter Detail (140 characters or less) A young journalist stumbles onto the story of a lifetime.  And in the process, uncovers layers of her heart she never knew existed. 2. What was the hardest character to write and why? I would say Albert (he’s the disturbed only son of the ring boss).  He’s nuts.  He’s obsessed with women, and Jessica (the heroine), in particular.  He’s pretty slimy, so getting into his head was a challenge. I had to channel my inner loser 😉 3. Today I am having a cleaning day. ::shudders:: What is one thing you wish would clean itself around the house? I was just complaining about this the other day!  The chore I hate the most would easily have to be dusting.  Ugh.  It just seems like there’s zero return on your investment.  You don’t walk into a house… Read more »

{Dream Cast} The Sphinx Project by Kate Hawkings

{Dream Cast} The Sphinx Project by Kate Hawkings

Kate’s Dream Cast For The Sphinx Project Movie When Michelle suggested I write a blog about my ‘dream cast,’ I couldn’t help but giggle. Every writer dreams of their work being translated to the big screen, but so rarely is that fantasy realized. When I was writing The Sphinx Project, I did have a quick flick through IMDb for some ideas for appearances, but I never really thought much of it in terms of matching an actor to a character. Michaela, my main character, is a sensitive girl in a big, mean world. The actress would need to be able to portray her vulnerability, as well as the stronger aspects of her personality.   Last year while I was revising The Sphinx Project, The Hunger Games was cast, and for the first time I was introduced to Jennifer Lawrence. The Hunger Games is one of my favourite books of all time, so I began digging up as much of her work as I could. After seeing the depths of her… Read more »

Today I have Sidney here for an interview, and then an awesome giveaway!   Thank you for spending time with us today. How are things going for you right now? Hey, Michelle.  So sweat of you to invite me.  Things now are, um, complicated.  It’s getting better though since my Sam woke up, you know what I mean?  Well, maybe you might not.  Sorry if I’m not being clear.  Got to be careful in not letting those good folks listening in on our secret.   What was it like growing up for you? Oh, man, what fun!  At least until my mom died.  You know about that?  I was about twelve when she fell of Blueberry Ridge.  Then it was just my brother, Danik, and me.  Guess I went kinda wild without my parents to keep me following those dang rules.  Pardon my French.  And Danik was not the greatest influence.  My dad was gone all the time so my mentor, Greystone, was the one I depended on the get me out… Read more »
