This review is for volumes 1 and 2 of the New Adult Serial Romance- Indiscretion. I have had some meh experiences with novellas and short stories lately. I kept picking up shorts that were not well developed, utterly rushed and just weren’t grabbing my attention. But I just needed the fabulous Elisabeth Grace to restore my faith in the novella. And Serial novellas are my favorite kind of short story. I am absolutely LOVING Indiscretion. I just got my copy of volume 3 yesterday and I am already itching to put aside my current book to read it.

The chemistry between Chloe and Max sizzles and jumps off the page. I know the deal between them is no strings attached and just something casual, but the way they are around each other is surprisingly tender and beyond wonderful. I am always so blown away with what Elisabeth Grace is able to do with her characters. And what she is able to do in just 70 or so pages in incredible! I blew through the first two volumes of Indiscretion so quickly, and they each left me wanting more, more MORE! The cliffhanger at the end of the first volume was so surprising too. I did not see that coming.

Indiscretion is about so much more than two people hooking up. The back story for both Max and Chloe is well developed, deep and complex. I can’t wait to find out more about Max and his relationship with his father in the next volume. And the humdinger that Ms. Grace left for us at the end of Volume 2 just about had me screaming. Elisabeth Grace knows how to write great characters and great chemistry. Whether she has a full novel to do it or in shorter installments, you always know you are going to get a great read. Indiscretion is fantastic and so is Elisabeth Grace. She is on my short list for go to romance authors. One of my favorites.

2. What is the hardest thing you have experienced with writing a serial books?

This is a great question because this process has been a real challenge for me. By the far the most difficult part is having a bunch of different volumes, all in different stages of the writing process. So I might be proofing Volume One, going through line edits on Volume Two, in developmental edits on Volume Three, and writing Volume Four. I’ve found it very difficult to transition my thinking from one to the other. I can fully understand now why some serial writers write one installment, go through the entire process with it, release it and then start on the next part.

3. Which has been your favorite character to write and why?

Hmmm…this is a really hard question because there is something I love about all my characters, but I would say that Katie from the Limelight series is probably the most fun to write overall. She tells it like it is and most of the stuff that comes out of her mouth makes me giggle. I’m looking forward to writing her book when her turn to find love comes around. 😉

4. What are some awesome books you have read in 2014?

I really enjoyed Love, In English by Karina Halle, Elicit by Rachel Van Dyken and LOVED Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan. That’s got to be the best book I’ve read this year. I highly recommend it!

5. If we peeked under your bed right now, what would we find?

A lost sock (or two), some family photo albums, and if I really looked I bet I could find that shirt I’ve been looking for forever that just up and disappeared one day.

6. What is something you wish we saw more of (or less of) in new adult?

I’d like to see some more romantic comedies in the NA world. A lot of NA involves very angst-ridden stories, characters with some major trauma in their past. I love those stories but I’d like to see some more humorous fiction in NA to choose from.

7. If we had an author talent show, what would you wow us with?

Sadly, I have no real ‘talents’, though there were two things I was known for in highschool. First was that my eyes changed colour from grey, to blue to green. And second was that I knew the words to almost any song that would come on the radio. If I hear a song once or twice and I’m paying attention I’ll know the lyrics inside out. So maybe that’s just a useless talent?? 🙂
