In this action-packed sequel to Frostblood, the future of Ruby's world and a court ruled by the love of her life depends on the uncovered secrets of her past..

Against all odds, Ruby has defeated the villainous Frost King and melted his throne of ice. But the bloodthirsty Minax that was trapped inside is now haunting her kingdom and everyone she loves. The answers to its demise may lie to the south in Sudesia, the land of the Firebloods, and a country that holds the secrets to Ruby's powers and past....

Despite warnings from her beloved Arcus, Ruby accompanies a roguish Fireblood named Kai to Sudesia, where she must master her control of fire in a series of trials to gain the trust of the suspicious Fireblood queen. Only then can she hope to access the knowledge that could defeat the rampaging Minax--which grows closer every moment. But as sparks fly in her moments alone with Kai, how can Ruby decide whom to trust? The fate of both kingdoms is now in her hands.

“Ruby's story shimmers and expands as she grapples with forces pushing her to obey. A new romantic interest sizzles and evil forces conspire, making for a thrilling romp through an engrossing world. A sucker punch of escalating evil, sizzling romance, and a spitfire coming into her own.”Kirkus Reviews

YA Review

My ThoughtsFireblood is the second book in the Frostblood saga and should be read in order. This review might contain light spoilers from the first book.
If you are new to the series, you can check out my review of the first book HERE

Fireblood is the second book in the young adult fantasy Frostblood Saga series by Elly Blake. I read Frostblood at the end of last year and I really loved it. I have been itching for the second book in the series ever since.  I loved the lore and myths behind the Firebloods and the Frostbloods. and I am so, so happy to say that I loved Fireblood just as much as Frostblood.  I am so ready for book three, Nightblood! I need it right now! Fireblood was just as action packed as the first installment, and we learned so much more about the Firebloods, the Minax and the history of the world. There are plenty more secrets to be revealed in the next book.

If you remember from my review of Frostblood, I am totally in love with Ruby and Arcus. So, like a lot of readers, I was instantly upset and wary of the mention of a new guy named Kai. And while I still love Arcus the most (and I ALWAYS will!) Kai did grow on me. Not as a love interest for Ruby (because, hello…Arcus!) but he isn’t a bad guy. I am not going to give away too much of the story, especially on the romance front but I will say that there were moments of great frustration for me. I even screamed out NOOO! at one point. But no matter what was happening, good or bad, I couldn’t tear myself away from this book. I was hooked right from the very start all the way to the last page. And then I wanted more, more MORE!

I am so in love with this series and this frost and fire world. I have so many more questions about the minax, but I feel like I learned to much in Fireblood. It only fueled my intrigue and interest in these novels. Elly Blake is a fantastic story teller. She writes books that grab ahold of me and do not let go. I fear I am becoming addicted to her books, because I need the next installment right now. And I need more Arcus. I love him so much!

Bottom line: The Frostblood saga is an awesome series. And Fireblood did not disappoint. it is every bit as brilliant as the first book. It is full of fantasy & magic, a richly historied world full of myths and secrets, and a really cool story line. I want more! The Frostblood Saga is a book that should not be missed! One thing is for sure, Elly Blake is an author to keep your eye on. She is going to have so many more awesome books for us in the future. I just know it. I loved Fireblood!

Elly Blake loves fairy tales, old houses, and owls. After earning a BA in English literature, she held a series of seemingly random jobs, including project manager, customs clerk, graphic designer, reporter for a local business magazine, and library assistant. She lives in Southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and a Siberian Husky mix who definitely shows Frostblood tendencies.

Her work is represented by Suzie Townsend of New Leaf Literary & Media.

Your review has me SO excited!! I really loved Frostblood too and can’t wait to continue the series. I’m glad it’s just as action packed and that we learn more about the world! Still scared for the romance haha but at least Kai isn’t a bad guy 😉 Awesome review!

So glad you ended up loving this one! I have Frostblood on my Kindle but I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet. I held off on picking it up until after I read people’s reviews of the second book because I don’t love the love triangles. lol! I’m happy to see that you enjoyed this one even if it has it’s “NOOO!” moments. haha! I skimmed your review because I didn’t want to know too much about the first one. lol
