{ARC Review+Halloween Costume Ideas} #Renegades by @Marissa_Meyer @FierceReads

{ARC Review+Halloween Costume Ideas} #Renegades by @Marissa_Meyer @FierceReads

Renegades is the first book in a new series of the same name by author powerhouse Marissa Meyer. Marissa’s Lunar Chronicles has been on my TBR for forever, but I recently read, and loved! Heartless. So I was super excited to pick up Renegades because I am obsessed with super heroes. Ever since I watched X-men, years and years ago, I was instantly hooked. And what was extra cool, was that Marissa Meyer said something really similar in her foreword note to Renegades. So extra yay for that! Renegades is set on the premise of a world like our own, where super powers have started to emerge. And with those powers a group of villains, called the Anarchists gained power and actually were in control for a number of years, so the world was a very different place, full of violence and chaos. Enter the Renegades, who swooped in to save the day. And right after these events, our story takes place. It was really cool to see a world where… Read more »

{Review} I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions by Erin Lyon @forgereads ‏@WritingLyon ‏

I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions is the first book in the adult romantic comedy series called Contract Killers by Erin Lyon. I loved this book. As soon as I read the title, I knew I was going to love this book. (The title still cracks me up.) I love you,  Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions (hereinafter “I Love You”) (see, I can be lawyer funny too…) is set in a world where the concept of marriage has turned into a series of seven year contracts. At the end of your contract term, you and your partner can choose whether or not to re-sign for another term of years. How romantic, right? This book is marketed as, “27 Dresses meets Bridget Jones’s Diary for the millennial set”, which I think is spot on. I really really enjoyed every moment of this book. In fact, when I got to the last page, I kept trying to turn for more. I need more! I’m really hoping that the contract killers series is… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Most Valuable Playboy by Lauren Blakely

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Most Valuable Playboy by Lauren Blakely

MOST VALUABLE PLAYBOY is a standalone sports romance by Lauren Blakely. I was super excited for this book for two reasons. One, it is written by Lauren Blakely, and I love her romances and two it is written in the guy’s POV! I am such a huge fan of romances written in the guy’s point of view. I just love to get inside their heads and live for awhile, and I know I am not the only person who feels that way. You will all be happy to know that I absolutely LOVED Most Valuable Playboy. It was everything I was looking for in a sports romance and more. It might even be my very favorite Lauren Blakely book to date! Most Valuable Playboy is the story of  Cooper and Violet. There are so many of my favorite Tropes in this story, I don’t even know where to start. We have a fake relationship, we have guy’s point of view, we have best friend’s sister. So many yeses!!! So many!… Read more »

{ARC Review} Fireblood by @Elly_Blake @TheNovl

Fireblood is the second book in the Frostblood saga and should be read in order. This review might contain light spoilers from the first book.  If you are new to the series, you can check out my review of the first book HERE Fireblood is the second book in the young adult fantasy Frostblood Saga series by Elly Blake. I read Frostblood at the end of last year and I really loved it. I have been itching for the second book in the series ever since.  I loved the lore and myths behind the Firebloods and the Frostbloods. and I am so, so happy to say that I loved Fireblood just as much as Frostblood.  I am so ready for book three, Nightblood! I need it right now! Fireblood was just as action packed as the first installment, and we learned so much more about the Firebloods, the Minax and the history of the world. {Review} The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee @yeebookauthor @abramskids ‏@PiqueBeyond @ACBYA

I am so so glad I read The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee! Seriously, this book was fresh and exciting and so so much fun. I can’t remember having read anything like this in a while! The Epic Crush of Genie Lo is based on chinese folklore and mythology, which I loved for so many reasons. I love the magic elements of it, I love anything mythology related and I really loved that it was based on the folklore of a country I don’t know much about. Learning about the Monkey King and Buddha, the hundreds of demons, and all the deities was so so interesting. Plus, there were all kinds of twists and turns that I am so not spoiling because I loved them so much! When Quentin met Genie he knew her right away, but we don’t know how. And how he knew her was nothing I was guessing and I completely LOVED IT! Ok, ok, if you really want to know what I loved about this… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Hearts we Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones @em_llojo ‏@TheNovl @LittleBrownYR ‏

The Hearts we Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones was an incredible read! It was so different than a lot of the books that I normally read and it pulled off the concept so well. To say I was impressed with this book is an understatement. The Hearts we Sold is a book that I will remember for a very long time. In the Hearts we Sold Demons inhabit the world along with people. The demons claim they are independent third parties with no agenda to promote, but they are interested in making bargains with anyone that would like. They will grant a wish for a person in exchange for a body part and a number of years of service to the demon. Dee makes a deal with a demon, even though she starts out by saying she never would. In her 2 years of service she meets all kinds of other people that have also traded their hearts in exchange for their wish. I found this world to be completely fascinating…. Read more »

{ARC Review+Giveaway} Kissing Max Holden by @KatyUpperman ‏@SwoonReads @FierceReads

Kissing Max Holden by Katy Upperman is a young adult contemporary romance that put a huge smile on my face. I really, really loved this book. It was cute, it was swoony and it was a whole lot of fun. Just what I love in my summer beach/pool reads. Max Holden is total book boyfriend material. I did have a few minor issues with the story, which I will discuss below, but overall I really enjoyed Kissing Max Holden. Kissing Max Holden is told from Jillian’s point of view. She grew up next door to Max Holden and they used to be very close, but because of personal issues in Max’s family, he has withdrawn a lot and because distant with Jillian. It is interesting because Jillian and Max still ran in similar friend groups at school so they are circling around in each other’s lives. I love a friends to more story, so I really liked the various facets to Jillian and Max’s relationship. It is clear that they… Read more »

The Loom Saga is a young adult high fantasy series that I have completely fallen in love with. I absolutely LOVED the first book, The Alchemists of Loom, and the second book- The Dragons of Nova was every bit as good as the first! In the Dragons of Nova we get to really delve more into the politics and struggles in the worlds of Loom and Nova and we get to revisit old characters and get to know some new characters as well. {Review} The Alchemists of Loom by @EliseKova @PriceWorldPub

The Alchemists of Loom is the first book in the Loom Saga by author Elise Kova. The Loom Saga is a young adult high fantasy series that I have completely fallen in love with. You know the feeling you get when you pick up a book by a new to you author- you are excited and hopeful that the book will be excellent. (but also a little nervous because you want to enjoy the novel so badly…and what if you don’t. What if you are the person that the book didn’t work for.) But then, as you read, the story exceeds all of your expectations. You completely fall in love with the characters and the story and the world. And then you finish the book and you find out that the author has SO MANY OTHER BOOKS! Multiple series with multiple books written. It is like stumbling on to a gold mine. That is what discovering Elise Kova felt like to me. She dropped a gold mine in my lap! And I couldn’t… Read more »

{Review} I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo @mauxbot ‏@FierceReads

I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo is a young adult standalone contemporary romance. This book had me giggling and smiling right from the very beginning. I seriously loved this novel. I can’t wait to read more by Maurene Goo because this was everything I am looking for in a cute, feel good contemporary romance. This tag line right here sold me from the get-go: “A funny young adult novel about a Korean-American girl who uses K-Drama techniques to snag the boyfriend of her dreams.” Umm, yes!!! And it was every bit as adorable as you think it would be. I loved all of the k-drama inspiration, and I really loved Desi’s list to finding her perfect boyfriend. It was hilarious. Desi and I clicked from the very first page. As soon as she was describing trying to make her pencil move with her mind, and she was so deep into her concentration, she had her dad come into the room and feed her soup, I was… Read more »
