{Interview+Giveaway} Aizai the Forgotten by Mary-Jean Harris

Today I have Mary- Jean here for an interview about her book, Aizai the Forgotten and then a giveaway of an ecopy of her book! 1. Describe Aizai the Forgotten in a tweet. Aizai the Forgotten follows seventeen-year-old Wolfdon as he tries to find the lost world of Aizai in France and Spain of the seventeenth century. With a beautiful horse he borrows from an astrologer, Wolfdon meets many peculiar people and eventually discovers the portal to Aizai with the aid of a mysterious girl he believes to be a goddess. Once in Aizai, Wolfdon witnesses magic beyond his imagination, but also realizes that there is a deadly secret, something that may involve him more than he could have guessed, and takes him even further on a dangerous mission. 2. What is one thing that we would be surprised to learn about Wolfdon Pellegrin? He has a strange mix of loyalty and disloyalty to his character. You find this out in the book, but he’ll be perfectly alright with ‘borrowing’ books and… Read more »

{Review} Carnelian by B. Kristin McMichael @bkmcmichael

{Review} Carnelian by B. Kristin McMichael @bkmcmichael

Carnelian is a solid start to what seems like is going to be a really interesting series. It has romance, magic and time travel, which I Thought was an interesting combination. I was easily drawn into the world that B. Kristin McMichael created. It was an interesting read and has me hooked enough that I want to continue on. There were some crazy twists and turns at the end of the story that I didn’t see coming. They seemed a bit unbelievable, but they were a cool twist to the story. I liked how self assured Mari was. She is not one to let someone push her around, but when she makes up her mind about someone, she is loyal and determined to stick by them. I liked that about her. She was skeptical about Seth, and rightly so. But eventually he wore her down, and from that point on she was committed. She didn’t waver anymore. The romance was cute. There was a bit of insta-pull but it was… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Essence by A.L. Waddington

{Review+Giveaway} Essence by A.L. Waddington

Essence takes place in two time periods. The chapters alternate between the present, 2009 and 1848. I really enjoyed trying to piece the mystery of what was happening together. I liked reading the dual stories because I just couldn’t pinpoint what exactly was happening. Some of the characters were the same, but many of the characters in the two time periods were different not only in name, but also in personality. So I just couldn’t figure out if they were all going to have “future/past” selves or if only one person was time traveling, or if it was something paranormal. But then again, that is kind of the point of the whole book. Trying to figure out just what was going on. And I thought the answer was really very interesting. I will warn you though, you have to wait pretty much the whole book, until the answer is revealed. It was kind of frustrating, but effective because now I really want to read the next book because I want… Read more »
