Who knew falling in love with my best friend had the potential to single-handedly destroy my entire family?

For as long as I could remember I’ve been in love with sexy, lawyer extraordinaire Nicholas Alexander. We always had a certain chemistry growing up. Especially after we shared one passionate, forbidden, perfect kiss as teenagers. For years I hoped he could look past my overprotective brothers and our age difference so we could be more than friends, I was wrong. Four years ago I left New York and my heart behind. Now I’m back to stake a claim on the only man I’ve ever loved. But unbeknownst to me, things are way more complicated than I could imagine when I learn he’s engaged, to my sister.

Will the love and desire I feel for the one man I’ve ever truly wanted destroy me? Am I willing to risk it all, for a chance at everlasting love?

Catherine Reed is the one woman I couldn’t have but the one I always wanted. She was my best friend’s baby sister which means she was definitely off limits to me and anyone else if I had my way. Not even having a merry-go-round of beautiful girls could stop me from wanting her. Watching her leave was hard but I knew giving in to what I wanted back then would ruin her…us. All I’ve ever wanted was for her to be happy and to see her beautiful smile.

I haven’t gotten to where I am by always doing what’s right. She’s Back. I want Her. I have every intention of making her Mine.

NA Review My Thoughts

I knew when got this book for review that there would be some drama because one sister has been in love with a guy her whole life and when she comes home she finds out he is with her sister. But that is ok because I can stand for some tasteful fell in love with the wrong guy romance. But the summary didn’t even begin to describe the level of messed up stuff this book gets into. Holy cow, Imperfections is so drama filled. And this is coming from me- a self professed Reality TV show junkie. I love me some drama. And I was really liking Imperfections, but the further I read, the more messed up it got and then I started to not feel ok with what the characters were doing.

But I still really liked Cat and Nick and I really liked them together, so I tried to put them in their own little romance bubble and ignore all the crazy stuff going on with the family and Cat’s sister. But it was really hard to ignore. Shaniel Watson takes us on twist after turn and I felt like each time it made it harder for Kate and Nick to work out. And hard and harder for me to justify what they were doing, and ultimately enjoy their story. Even when I hated Cat’s sister, and trust me, I did hate Kate, I still couldn’t get over the level of messed up the situation was. I have no idea why Nick went along with Kate’s bs in the first place. He should have just told her no, but even so it wouldn’t have prevented everything from spiraling out of control with the events that took place throughout the story.

If you love drama and loved messed up family dynamics and guys stealing, cheating, scandals galore, then this is the perfect book for you. It started out good for me, and I liked the romance between Cat and Nick, it was steamy and fun, but because of the events that took place, I just couldn’t get into them. I wanted to, but I couldn’t. The equally crazy and dramatic ending saved some of the story for me, but it was too tumultuous of a ride for me to fully enjoy.

It’s always so awkward when books have ‘too much’ drama and characters start making decisions you aren’t fully comfortable with, you know? It’s like there’s a certain extent to which you can handle all the ridiculousness. Hopefully you enjoy your next read more!

Yes, exactly! I liked the characters together so they would choose one thing and I was like, ok I can deal with this. It’s not how I would choose to handle it, but ok. And then they would choose another thing, and then another and finally I had to say…back up a minute. This is pure insanity. haha

Thanks for stopping by Lily 🙂

Oh gosh, this sounds like it is just filled with drama. I’m not sure I’m up for that. Sorry this didn’t end up being a better read.
