“I don’t think getting to know me that intimately is part of the job description,” I whispered in her ear, amused by the salacious thoughts. Who’d have guessed the stiff in the lab coat would have such a dirty mind? “Let me make this clear. I would never touch a filthy mortal like you in such a way.”

Dr Quentin Scott doesn’t believe in the Gods. Forsaken at every turn of her life, she refuses to kneel before them and beg for scraps. But when she is recruited the E.L.I project, Quen is forced to come face to face with the Gods she detests.

Grayson, God of Chaos, never wanted to be part of the project. He would happily spend his days in Upper Elysia, watching the madness he created unfold amongst the mortals, but he’s outnumbered. When he’s paired with a disrespectful nonbeliever, Gray’s temper leads his every action. And then he senses the chaos that lies beneath the pretty façade, and he vows to break her.

As Grayson and Quentin lock horns over the smallest things, something sparks between them. But a spark can become a raging inferno in the blink of an eye and the damage done may be irreparable. When secrets start to emerge that could shift the balance of powers in Elysia, decisions must be made and there’s no such thing as an easy choice.

The Gods have come to play but it’s a dangerous game. Who can you trust?

“You’re a scientist, Quentin. One microlitre. One milligram. One decimal point. The smallest fraction can change the course of your work and endanger lives, no?”

Grayson thought he could break his host – the non-believer with an iron will – until he discovered they were soulbound. By saving her life, he’s hung a death sentence over her head. All the careful plans he laid out must be pushed aside in order to convince the council that her existence is valuable. But the God of Chaos isn’t known for his congeniality.

Quentin never trusted the Gods, and they have proven her right. Half of them lied to her about what she truly was, and the other half want her dead because of it. Time is running out before the council reconvene, and she has a lot to learn. For once, the books won’t help her, and she must rely on the Gods more than ever.

As Quentin learns to control her powers and accept her heritage, a series of truths come to light and leave her questioning everyone around her. Elysian politics are far more complicated than she imagined, and she’s landed in the centre of it all. There are no safe bets in the heavens. Everyone looks out for themselves.

The Gods aren’t what they seem, but they know how to put on a show. Can you survive?

My Thoughts

I have been loving binge reading series right now, so I read books one and two of the Elysian Gods series back to back. This was great because the books do end on cliff hangers, so be warned about that. Book two, Of Truths & Bonds released this week, so grab both right now meet the Elysian Gods! Book one is Of Gods & Monsters and book 2 is Of Truths & Bonds, and this is a series that should be read in order.

Of Gods & Monsters

I love books featuring mythological gods, so when I saw a book that was going to combine a logical scientist with Gods of mythology, I was all in. And here we have our main character, Dr. Quentin Scott, who does not believe in the Gods- that is until she is brought in on a secret project which brings her face to face with a God she didn’t think existed. I loved the bickering back and forth between Quen and Grayson (the God of Chaos) this book was full of sexual tension, mystery, duplicity and let’s not forget- Gods! I enjoyed learning about the Gods and the world, but I do hope that we get to see more of the home of the Gods- Elysia in the next book. We got some teasers but I want more! There were also some huge bombshells and surprise twists that were dropped in this novel, and I was totally there for it.

Of Truths & Bonds

Of Truths & Bonds picks up after the events of the first book. With Quen learning a lot more about herself. This book was really about her getting answers and coming into her own, which I loved. At first she didn’t believe in the Gods, and then once she was forced to, she didn’t trust them at all. Which was smart because they are a bunch of lying liars. (At least some of them.) This book is very much about the fall out of some bombshells that were dropped in the last book. I am still totally in love with Quen and Gray throughout the story.

Overall, I am really enjoying this story. There are plenty of twists, turns and betrayals to keep me on the edge of my seat. I am fascinated by the world and the Gods. Bring on the next book please!
