{Mini Review+Giveaway} DIVE SMACK by Demetra Brodsky

{Mini Review+Giveaway} DIVE SMACK by Demetra Brodsky

Holy Cow! That’s what I have to say about Dive Smack. Dive Smack is a young adult physiological thriller by author Demetra Brodsky, and this book totally blew my mind. It has been awhile since I have read a thriller. I have been in a big fantasy kick lately, but it was really nice to switch things up and dive into this twisty thriller that really grab s a hold of you. I don’t love to read a ton of physiological thrillers, but I am always on the lookout for a good one. One that keeps you thinking long after you turned the last page. And that is what Dive Smack was. Demetra Brodsky did a fantastic job with this debut novel! My favorite part of Dive Smack were the characters. Theo is fantastic. Watching the toll this plot takes on him and watching the plot unravel and progress was fascinating. Dive smack started out a little slow, but boy oh boy is it a novel that really builds. It just… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Pacifica by Kristen Simmons @kris10writes @TorTeen

{Review+Giveaway} Pacifica by Kristen Simmons @kris10writes @TorTeen

Pacifica is a future dystopian novel by Kristen Simmons. I am kind of picky when it comes to dystopian novels, because like a lot of people, I read a TON of them several years back, and they all started to feel similar and I got burnt out on the storyline. But Pacifica sounded too good to pass up, and I am so glad that I didn’t pass it up because I loved this book! I loved it! it made me want to go binge read all of Kristen’s other books. (I already own them all, but I haven’t read them! #bookbloggerproblems) Pacifica is set in our world in the future, when pollution and climate change has taken a very noticeable toll on the inhabitability of the earth. The waters are filled with waste and completely polluted, and people are trying to flee to this elusive uptopian island, that is supposedly untouched by the pollution of the main lands. It was scary how easy it was for me to envision this world. But… Read more »

{ARC Review+Giveaway} Roar by @CoraCarmack @TorTeen

From New York Times bestselling author Cora Carmack comes her debut young adult fantasy, ROAR! Releasing June 13, 2017, ROAR takes readers on an adventure filled with charismatic characters in an enthralling world sure to keep them turning the pages. Order your copy today! Roar is the first book in the young adult fantasy series, called the Stormheart series by author Cora Carmack. Roar honestly blew me away. I loved it so much, and what I loved the most about it was that I don’t feel like the story took the most conventional plot path. It continued to surprise me and that was pretty magical. I have read Cora’s new adult novels in the past and I love her Rusk University books, so I was super excited to see that she was venturing into the young adult fantasy realm. YA fantasies are quickly becoming my very favorite type of books to read. (I do still love a good contemporary romance though…but mostly in the new adult age group.) I thought… Read more »

{Review+Guest Post+Giveaway} Refuge for Masterminds by Kathleen Baldwin @KatBaldwin @TorTeen

{Review+Guest Post+Giveaway} Refuge for Masterminds by Kathleen Baldwin @KatBaldwin @TorTeen

Note: This is the third book in a series that must be read in order. If you are new to the Stranje House series, check out my review of book one, A School for Unusual Girls HERE and my review of book two,  HERE ————— Refuge for Masterminds is the third book in the Stanje House series by Kathleen Baldwin. I absolutely loved, the first book in the series, A School for Unusual Girls, and the second book, Exile for Dreamers. Each of the books is told from one of the five Stranje House girls point of views. Book one was Georgie, book two is Tess and book three is Jane. The series follows a single timeline and the events of the books take place one right after another, so the series must be read in order. But from each book we get to see the next set of events unfold from a different perspective. It is brilliantly done. Refuge for Masterminds is Jane’s story. As soon as I found out each of the books was going… Read more »

If you are new to the Stranje House series, check out my review of book one, A School for Unusual Girls HERE ————— Exile for Dreamers is the second book in the Stanje House series by Kathleen Baldwin. I absolutely loved, the first book in the series, A School for Unusual Girls, and this book was even better than the first book. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Georgie and Lord Wyatt, but I really really adore the setup of this series. Each of the books is told from one of the five Stranje House girls point of views. Book one was Georgie, book two is Tess and book three will be Jane. I just love that idea. {Review+Giveaway} A School for Unusual Girls by Kathleen Baldwin @KatBaldwin @TorTeen

A School for Unusual Girls is the first book in the Stanje House series by Kathleen Baldwin. This book, and really all three books, were such a big surprise for me. I completely love them! In my post of Riders by Veronica Rossi, I spoke about about much I enjoy binge reading books one right after another, so I decided to do it again with the Stranje House series. And I freakin’ loved it! A School for Unusual Girls is such a different, in the best way, novel! It is part historical fiction, party magic, and part secret spy school. I have never read another book quite like it. One of the coolest parts of the book, is that you don’t really know what direction it is going to go in. Everything is so mysterious. You learn more and more as secrets are reveals and parts of the plot unfold. At the Stranje School, there are a group of five completely special and diverse girls. I loved learning about each… Read more »

{Release Day Review} Seeker by Veronica Rossi @RossiBooks @TorTeen

This is the second book in a series that needs to be read in order. If you are new to the Riders series, check out my review of Book 1- Riders, HERE Seeker is the second book in the Riders series by Veronica Rossi, and it comes out TODAY! Yay! I totally loved this duology. (and I so badly want it to be a series, which I thought it was when I read the first book. I thought there were going to be four books, one for each of the four horsemen, or maybe five with the seeker thrown in). I binge read books one and two, and man oh man, I forgot how much fun it is to read books from a series back to back. It makes me want to binge read some of my longer series that I have sitting on my bookshelves staring at me, all sad because I haven’t read them yet. (Like the Grisha trilogy, and then Six of Crows, Vampire Academy series, The falling Kingdom… Read more »

{Review} Riders by Veronica Rossi @RossiBooks @TorTeen

{Review} Riders by Veronica Rossi @RossiBooks @TorTeen

Riders is the first book in the Riders series by Veronica Rossi. Riders is the story of the new incarnations of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. I found riders to be a well planned out, and super interesting read. I blew through this book super fast and immediately reached for the second book in the series. (I think I read both books in 1.5 days.) I think what intriged me the most about this story was the format it was told in. It is mostly told in flashback style. The book starts out at the end of some big event, where our main character, Gideon is being interrogated. There is so much mystery surrounding Gideon, and his interrogators. I was instantly hooked. Who were they? What do they know on their own? What is going on with Gideon. As the story progresses we get to follow Gideon as he is introduced to his new life as “war”, and we join him on the journey to find the other horsemen,… Read more »

{ARC Review+Interview+Giveaway} Nightstruck by @JennaBlack @torteen

{ARC Review+Interview+Giveaway} Nightstruck by @JennaBlack @torteen

Describe Nightstruck in a tweet. (140 characters or less) Ordinary teenage girl tricked into opening gate to a malevolent world that takes over Philadelphia every night. What is something we would be surprised to learn about Becket? Becket knows how to fire a gun. She figured it would be “lame” not to be able to fire one when her father is the police commissioner. Her knowledge of firearms comes in handy more than once over the course of the book. What are some of your bookish pet peeves at the moment? This goes for books, movies, and TV—I get tired of scenarios where one character is keeping a secret, and then just when that character has nerved him- or herself up to reveal it, it comes out accidentally. It’s supposed to create tension, but because it’s done so much, you know from the moment the person in question decides to keep the secret that it’s going to be revealed by someone else and create drama and angst. What is one… Read more »
