Party Girl by Rachel Hollis
Genre: New Adult
Kindle Edition, 360 pages
Publication Date: February 14th 2014 by Chic PublishingPG Cover 5x8 (1)

Landon Brinkley is making her dreams come true. After years of poring over glossy photos of celebrity parties in People and US Weekly, she’s landed her Holy Grail: an internship with the fabulous Selah Smith, event planner to the Hollywood elite.
Moving from small town Texas to Los Angeles, Landon finds herself in a world in which spending a million dollars on an event – even for kids’ birthdays – is de rigueur. The thrill of working on A-list parties and celeb weddings is enough to get her through the 75-hour workweeks, the nightmare of a multi-day film festival, and abuse at the hands of a mercurial boss. LA is full of opportunity for fame, fortune and even love. But confronted with the seamy realities of the business, she is forced to make a choice: do whatever it takes to get ahead, or stay true to herself.
A roman a clef in the vein of The Devil Wears Prada, PARTY GIRL draws on the author’s real life experience for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the celebrity-obsessed world of event planning. From the party habits of America’s favorite underage singer to the worst Bridezilla of all (the kind that graces the cover of your favorite magazine), PARTY GIRL reveals the ugly side of Hollywood’s prettiest parties.

Dream Cast

Rachel has stopped by to tell us who she pictured for each of her characters. I love dream casts and I think her picks are awesome! Check it out

This is SUCH a tough question for me because some of the characters are
based on celebrities (obviously, easy to cast) and some of them seem like very
real people to me so I have no idea who should play them. For what it’s worth,
here are my best guesses…

imageLandon Brinkley – I wish I knew! It’s really tough for me
to come up with someone who’s the right age and also,
having the ability to play southern is really, really important
for her. I just saw Anna Sophia Robb in The Way Way
Back and I wondered if she might be a good Landon.
image

Selah Smith – Selah was always based on Rose Byrne in
my mind, so that’s an easy one for me.
image
Miko – The girls are definitely toughest for me because
they’re the most “real” in my mind… forced to make a
decision? I’m not even sure if she is an actress or just a
TV host but Jeannie Mai could totally pull off Miko’s style.

image

McKenna – This is another character who was always
someone very specific in my mind. Darren Criss.

image

Taylor – Half way through writing this book I saw Dave
Franco in Now You See Me and I loved that he was sort of
a punk but totally charming at the same time… that’s
utterly Taylor. From that point on I always saw Dave
Franco when I was writing his character.

image

Brody Ashton – Physically he’s based on a model
named Devon Paisley… because if you get to dream up
any guy in a story, why not dream up male models?

Max is, for some reason, the toughest for me to come up with. Besides Landon, she’s my favorite character in this book and if I was going to write a sequel it
would be Max’s story. She’s so tough and grouchy but buried under 18 layers of
mean-girl is a really good heart. I’ll leave you to who imagine who might play her
because I have no idea.

As for all the celebrities in the book… those are based on very real celebrity
clients, I’ll leave you to wonder who each one is based on. My lips are sealed. 😉
