From the author of the On the Line and Fire on Ice hockey romance series comes a sultry novel featuring a brooding NHL player who’s hell on skates—and the no-nonsense woman who forces him to clean up his act.

Miranda:

Even though I’m broke, putting myself through college, and working two jobs, I’m trying to make the best of it. Meanwhile, Jake Birch, hockey’s hottest bad boy, lives in a luxury hotel in downtown Chicago—and still complains about every little thing in his penthouse. But after I tell him off, instead of getting me fired, Jake requests me as his personal housekeeper. Then he starts flirting with me. Only I’m not flirting back . . . at least, I’m trying not to. Did I mention that he’s hockey’s hottest bad boy?

Jake:

I’ve met the best woman at the worst possible time. Miranda is the fire to my ice—a sexy, charmingly candid spark who breaks down my walls and reminds me what it’s like to feel again. But I’m being forced to date my team owner’s daughter to keep my job, so I can’t be caught with Miranda. Still, we’re getting closer—until Miranda finds out about my “girlfriend.” And that’s not the only secret I’ve been keeping. But Miranda’s the one I want . . . even if she doesn’t believe me.

My ThoughtsHooked is an adult contemporary sports romance by author Brenda Rothert. I love a good sports romance but the tag line for this book is what hooked me in. 😉 “a sultry novel featuring a brooding NHL player who’s hell on skates—and the no-nonsense woman who forces him to clean up his act.” I love a good brooding male character and a no nonsense woman. Hooked was right up my alley for a good whipping into shape romance. I got such a kick out of Miranda and Jake. Jake needed a Miranda in his life badly. Hooked is the first book I have read by Brenda, but it certainly will not be the last. I really liked Hooked.

Miranda made me snort, laugh out loud and chuckle non-stop throughout Hooked. I just loved her quick comebacks. She seemed to be the only one to knock Jake off his game. And he desperately needed that in his life. He was quick on his way to being a jerkwad, and we can’t have that. With Miranda’s help be became the swoony great guy that I knew he could be. I loved the witty dialogue and banter between Jake and Miranda most. It was my favorite park of Hooked.

Not only does Hooked have excellent character chemistry, and a steamy swoonworthy romance full of tons of great banter, but it also have a really great character development journey for Jake. I loved that. Yes, there is a drama, flirting and tons of romance, but there is a also some really excellent growth on his part. And that was a really nice bonus. I think this is a must read for fans of hockey romances. Miranda will make you laugh when she puts Jake in his place time and time again, and Jake will win your heart- even if you don’t think he will initially. Hooked really impressed me. I can’t wait to read more by Brenda Rothert.

Miranda from Hooked by @BrendaRothert will crack you up. @BookBriefs #Review @LovestruckEP #Romance #SportsRomance Share on X
