{Review+Giveaway} Lycan’s Blood Queen by Catherine Edward

{Review+Giveaway} Lycan’s Blood Queen by Catherine Edward

Lycan’s Blood Queen is the first in the adult paranormal romance duology called the Randolph Duology, by Catherine Edward. I was very intrigued by the summary of this book, and I love books that feature more than one kind of creature because I really enjoy reading about different authors takes on paranormal creatures. The Randolph Duology features Lycans, Vampires and Witches. A classic mix, but we get to see a twist on one of the creatures which I really enjoyed. Lycan’s Blood Queen had a bit of a rocky start. I was confused when I first started reading. I didn’t know what was going on and I wasn’t getting to know any of the characters very well. Honestly, I almost put the book down and went to try something else. But I decided to keep reading to see if the pieces came together for me, and I am very glad that I did. I ended up really enjoying Lycan’s Blood Queen, and I am certainly very interested in reading the… Read more »

{Interview+Giveaway} Dead Sexy by Lulu M. Sylvian

{Interview+Giveaway} Dead Sexy by Lulu M. Sylvian

1. Describe Dead Sexy in a tweet (140 characters or less) 140 characters or less is always a challenge, but I’ll give it my best. Dead Sexy is a paranormal ghost romance about a Hollywood has-been hunk and the woman who falls in love with his ghost. (119 characters) But I don’t feel that tells you much at all, let me try again: Hollywood has-been hunk finds a talented illustrator to write him into the perfect life he didn’t have. Life doesn’t give you do-overs, neither does the afterlife. (Too long) Peter Keith wants a do-over. Problem is he’s dead. Illustrator Gillian wants to help him. Problem is she’s in love with him. (124 characters) Can a person become a better person after they’ve died? Gil is pretty sure the answer is yes because she has fallen in love with a ghost. (137 characters) Can you tell us something that we would be surprised to learn about Peter and Gillian? It’s not in the story, but as part of her career in Medical Illustration, Gillian would… Read more »

{Mini Review} Pack of Misfits by Raven Kennedy

{Mini Review} Pack of Misfits by Raven Kennedy

Addie is the first book in the pack of misfits series by the awesome Raven Kennedy. I first read pack of misfits when it was a novella as part of a bind up of other books featuring shifters. It was my favorite novella in the whole anthology, and I really loved meeting Addie. Her and her guys are ducking hilarious 😉 Now, Raven Kennedy has expanded the story into a full length novel, but it is a standalone story for Addie and her guys. Addie is a prey shifter, and is a member of Pack Aberrant, also known as the pack of misfits. I love how feisty Addie is and the connection she has with the three coyote shifters she meets. The full length novel had all of the parts of the novella that I loved, but it also expanded on the characters from pack Aberrant, which makes sense because the other books in the series will each feature a different pack member and their story. The plot of Addie… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Forever Chosen by K.L. Bone

{Review+Giveaway} Forever Chosen by K.L. Bone

Forever Chosen is an adult paranormal romance novella in the vampire brides series. The books in the vampire brides series are each standalones, so they can be read in any order, and they are all written by different authors and have different lengths and heat levels. I like the concept behind a series like this, and I think it would be perfect if you are craving some vampire romance. My problem is I think I am just over vampires at the moment. Most of the time, they don’t feel unique or different enough, and that was kind of my experience with Forever Chosen. This book was ok. It was well written and the story and characters were fine. It just didn’t excite me because I didn’t really want to be reading about vampires. That is entirely a me issue, not a book issue. I think if you are in the mood for a vampire romance, this book and this series will be right up your alley. Forever Chosen is the… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Wolves & Monsters by Dyan Chick

{Review+Giveaway} Wolves & Monsters by Dyan Chick

Wolves & Monsters is the first book in the Siren Problems series by Dyan Chick. The Siren problems series is a new adult paranormal romance series. I thought this was a good first book. It is a little on the short side and it is very, very action packed so if you are looking for a fast paced read with a second chance romance and adventure, this is going to be a great quick fix book for you. Not to mention, it is has wet my appetite for more in the siren problem series. I don’t get to read too many books featuring a siren as the main character, so I was immediately intrigued by our main character Angie. Angie is a siren that feels like she is cursed. Every man that she has ever been with has died shortly thereafter. So when she actually fell in love for the first time, she high tailed it out of town so she couldn’t kill him. But her newest death by siren… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} S.S.S. Year One (Supernatural Spy Academy) by Yumoyori Wilson

{Review+Giveaway} S.S.S. Year One (Supernatural Spy Academy) by Yumoyori Wilson

S.S.S. Year One is the first book in the Supernatural Spy Academy series by Yumoyori Wilson. The Supernatural Spy Academy starts off with a really cool concept. With an origin of many super hero world stories, there was a change that spread throughout earth which changed people into witches and other supernatural creatures. The Supernatural Spy Academy is a prestigious school where shifters train to become spies. But witches have never graduated from the academy. This is something that our main character, Silver Spell Solange (see what the author did there with another SSS?) is hoping to change. She has always dreamed of graduating from the Academy, but getting in and staying in is no easy feat. Their entrance exam is essentially a dangerous magical quest, which you know is completely up my alley. Silver was a decent main character, and I am starting to warm up to her group of classmates/quest teammates. But honestly, some of their storylines felt a bit forced, and were a little off putting to… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Smoke and Key by @KelseyJSutton @EntangledTeen

{Review+Giveaway} Smoke and Key by @KelseyJSutton @EntangledTeen

Smoke and Key is a young adult paranormal by author Kelsey Sutton. First off, I have to just point out how crazy beautiful the cover is. I was immediately drawn in because of it, but then the mysterious summary really hooked me. I had to know what Smoke and Key was all about. And talk about starting the book off with a bang. The first chapter was completely creepy and spooky and set the stage for a haunting and mysterious story that I simply could not put down. Smoke and Key was fascinating and something wholly different than I was expecting. If you are a fan of gothic style mysteries, I think you will absolutely love this novel. In Smoke and Key we start out with Key finding her way into the Under. The Under is a world where some  individuals find themselves after death. It is named the under because it is literally the ground underneath their graves, and the only way to enter it is to fall into… Read more »

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Kill Code by Luna Kayne

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Kill Code by Luna Kayne

Kill Code is a romantic suspense novel by author Luna Kayne. It is the first book in a trilogy. I enjoyed Kill Code. I thought some parts of the beginning were a bit slow, but overall this book was a good foundation for what is going to be an eventful trilogy. And Kill Code definitely was a novel that built as it went on. The ending was more than I expected. It certainly set us up for an interesting second novel. Kill Code follows a special forces team in search of a group of hackers. I love anything involving hackers, so I was excited to learn more about what was going on. I liked the characters, and the romance was certainly pretty steamy in parts. I liked the balance of the romantic elements with the obvious suspenseful atmosphere throughout the story. I really liked that this was a reunion of sorts for our main characters. It was cool that Jessa and jack knew each other from several years back. They… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Wolf Tamer by Yumoyori Wilson

{Review+Giveaway} Wolf Tamer by Yumoyori Wilson

Wolf Tamer is a paranormal romance by Yumoyori Wilson. Wolf Tamer is the first book in the Claiming my pack series and it is also the first book I have had the pleasure to read by author Yumoyori Wilson. Wolf shifters is something that my readings tastes go in phases with. Sometimes I love books featuring shifters and sometimes I burn out on the trope. At the moment, I am really into shifter paranormal romances. So when I saw a new paranormal romance that was a start to a series that intrigued me, I jumped all over it. And I have to say, I really enjoyed Wolf Tamer. I love that our main character, Harper can interact with different breeds of wolf. I actually really loved that the author took the time to distinguish and differentiate between different breeds. It gave me the chance to see different personality types come out with the different characters. It was a cool touch to the story that I think added a lot of… Read more »
