My father traded his life for mine. And now I’m bound to an enemy.
I finally carved out a life for myself with minimal interaction with my abusive father. He might be the alpha, but he hates me enough to leave me alone as long as I don’t make him look bad.
Until he decides to challenge another alpha and offer my life in exchange for his. Now, I’m life bound to an enemy and I’m trapped in a strange pack.
Despite my attempts to keep my distance from my captor, I find myself drawn to him. But as we get closer, things get more dangerous.
There’s so much more to this than it seems and I’ve ended up right in the middle. One wrong step and it’s my life on the line. If I can't get free of this, I'm going to end up dead and I'll be taking my captor with me.
Shadow Mate is a full-length paranormal romance. 17+ for dark content, steamy scenes, and language. This is book one in a trilogy and is not a standalone. Mind the cliff.
Shadow Mate is the first book in the Shadow Wolves series by Alexis Calder, which is a paranormal shifter romance. I loved Shadow Mate so much and it makes me want to go binge read more of Alexis Calder’s books right now! Shadow Mate was interesting, had great romance and sexual tension and an awesome plot setup. The cliffy made me want book two right now.
In Shadow Mate, we meet our main character Morgan who is the daughter of the Copper Springs pack Alpha. She has never been close with her father because she grew up watching him abuse her mother. Morgan wants nothing to do with shifters because of him. She just wants to keep working at her little bar and keep her head down. But when her father loses a fight and trades her life in order to save his own, Morgan finds herself a hostage of the Lost Pack. A wolf pack that is not thought to exist. Here she meets the Lost Pack’s alpha- Luke.
I really enjoyed watching Luke and Morgan get to know each other. Though the characters did annoy me at times, I was totally engrossed in this story. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading and I am desperate for more. Luke and Morgan need to pull their heads out of their butts and find their way back to one another because I really love their explosive chemistry. If you are a fan of shifter romances, then the Shadow Wolves series is a must read. This book was fantastic!
