“Welcome to Hell.”
Persephone Fields is just an average girl: beloved daughter and loyal friend. One night decides her Fate, when the prince of The Underworld becomes her savior and her kidnapper.Hades has lived centuries in darkness and sin. When he decides to save the blonde goddess, he doesn’t consider the ramifications of his decision to bring her into his realm.
Two worlds divided struggle to find friendship in a history of family discord beyond their control. When attraction blurs the line, questions result in choices of love or loyalty.
A modern twist of the classic myth: Hades and Persephone, this version incorporates the sensual tension of opposites divided by contemporary humanity and mythical underworlds. Also reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, this is a love story ripe with desire.
+++++++++++++++++ Author’s note: This book contains scenes of sexual intimacy. Mature YA/NA Paranormal Romance

Hades is the first book in the new adult paranormal romance series, called the Modern Descendants, by author Elda Lore. Elda Lore is the alter ego of author L.B. Dunbar, and she writes mythology based romances. Which happen to be a personal favorite of mine. I really enjoyed Hades, and I can’t wait to see what Elda Lore has in store for us next. I love all greek and roman mythology, but if I had to pick one story as my favorite, especially if we are talking about a story that can be turned into a romance, Hades and Persephone take the cake for me, hands down. I just love everything that comes along with their story. I love the underworld, I love the dynamics between the two of them, and I love that there are a million different characterizations each of the characters can take. Hades does a great job at both staying true to the legends but making everything feel modern and fresh, with a big twist.
What I loved most of all about Hades, is that this is about the next generation Hades, the son of the Hades we more commonly know. And he is destined to commit the same sins of his father, namely kidnap a modern Persephone and take her to the underworld. Cool idea, right? I really thought so. I’m not going to give away too much more than that because sometimes I feel like with mythology based stories, the writer is at a disadvantage because the reader may be very familiar with the classic tales, so it might take away some elements of surprise. Elda Lore was still able to very much surprise me, which I greatly appreciated. I was so impressed with Hades.
Bottom line: Whether you are an old fan of the classic myths or whether you are new to them, the Modern Descendants series is going to be a great. I can already tell based on Hades. They are going to have the elements of the classic stories, but with a very new and modern take on the tale. I loved Hades and I can’t wait to dive into the next one. Hades is very, very well done. I loved it.
I love stories with the Underworld references. Thanks for the post.
I also love reading about mythology, so I’ll have to pick this one up. Thanks for the review 🙂
