{Review} Kill All Happies by @RachelCohn @HyperionTeens

{Review} Kill All Happies by @RachelCohn @HyperionTeens

Kill all Happies is a standalone young adult contemporary novel by Rachel Cohn. I know this is going to sound crazy, but this is the first book I have read by Rachel. Kill All Happies is a story of a senior class’ last hurrah. And boy oh boy is it one heck of a night for them. I really enjoyed this crazy over the top story. It was a lot of fun to read. It was certainly not like any graduation party I have seen in real life, but I am sure graduation parties like this have taken place many times. Rachel Cohn has a very snappy and funny writing style. It was one of the things I enjoyed most about the story. The first page of the book had me laughing out loud, which I knew was going to a sign of great things to come. Happies is a local restaurant, that also has an amusement park?! What? How could something that sounds that cool, close down? Victoria, or… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Groupie by @susanmdaugherty

{Review+Giveaway} Groupie by @susanmdaugherty

Groupie is the first book in the series of the same name by Susan Daugherty. Groupie is a new adult/adult rock star romance. I enjoyed Groupie. I had a few character issues that kept me from falling head over heels in love with it, but I ended up liking the story quite a bit. Groupie is rock star romance between a country music artist and his PT. This is part one in this couple’s story, so it does end things a little unfinished. Overall, Groupie was a good read. Groupie is the story of Lexie and Jack. My main issue with this story was Lexie, I am sorry to say. She irked me. I didn’t totally hate her. I actually really liked most of her genuine interactions with Jack, but she is so judgey. Judgey to the point that it felt like overkill to me. But I suppose you can also say that she is honest with her opinions of people and of groupies. I really liked Jack. I thought he… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Makeup Test by @VanessaMKnight

{Review+Giveaway} The Makeup Test by @VanessaMKnight

The Makeup Test by Vanessa M. Knight is the sixth book in the Ritter University series. The Ritter University series is a series of new adult standalone romances. The Makeup Test is the first book I have read in the series, and to be perfectly honest, I had never even heard of the series before I found this book. So I certainly had no problem following along with the story and the characters. It really did work as a standalone. Each of the books in the Ritter University series are more like novellas. They are super quick reads coming in at under 150 pages, and are great for a quick pick me up. I really enjoyed The Makeup Test. I loved the complexity to the main character, Parker. At first glance, she is a materialistic rich girl, but once you get to know her better you see she has many more layers than simply that one. However; she is materialistic at times and she certainly is a spoiled rich girl,… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Too Hard to Forget by Tessa Bailey @mstessabailey @ForeverRomance

Warning: This is third book in a series that should be read in order. If you are new to the series, check out my review of book one- Too Hot To Handle HERE and book two, Too Wild to Tame HERE Too Hard to Forget is the third book in the Romancing the Clarksons series by Tessa Bailey. I really loved book,  Too Hot to Handle. and I liked book two, Too Wild to Tame. This series is an adult contemporary romance series. Book one is still my favorite, but this second installment was good as well. I just love all of Tessa Bailey’s works. This book, Too Hard to Forget, might be my favorite book in the series yet! What I liked the most about this book and this series is the concept. I love a series of interconnected standalone novels, each focusing on a different character. There are tons of books which follow this pattern and it is a big winner for me. Even better if they are books that center around a… Read more »

{Review} The House Mate by @KendallRyan1

{Review} The House Mate by @KendallRyan1

The House Mate is the third book in the roommates series by Kendall Ryan. The roommates series are each standalone contemporary romances. I loved book one, the Room Mate, and book two, The Play Mate. I liked the third book, but maybe not every bit as much as books 1 and 2. It was a pretty close call though. I’ll explain why, but overall this was still a really good read, and I can see people falling in love with this story the most! The House Mate is the story of Max and Addison. Max is a businessman and bachelor, until his ex from years ago shows up and drops off a baby girl with a note that it is his and she can’t take care of her anymore. Umm, what?? Does that kind of thing happen in real life? Max puts in an ad for a live in Nanny for his newfound baby Dylan (named after Bob Dylan) and he meets Addison. I’m sure you can see where this story is… Read more »

{Review} Royally Roma by Teri Wilson @TeriWilsonauthr ‏@simonschuster ‏

Royally Roma is the first book in The Royals series by Teri Wilson. Royally Roma is a modern retelling of the classic Audrey Hepburn film Roman Holiday. I found Royally Roma to be a fun whirlwind adventure romance. I can’t wait to read more of The Royals series. In Royally Roma we get to see a crowned prince play hooky for a bit, and finally let loose and have some fun. This was a light hearted, feel good romance. I would recommend reading this book on a Sunday afternoon by the pool. Royally Roma is the story of Julia and Niccolo. Julia is a grad student working as tour guide, and Niccolo is a frustrated prince who took advantage of an opportunity to get away for a day. Part of me felt bad for Niccolo initially, but part of me was annoyed at his attitude. I know he didn’t have much of a life because he was being paraded around from country to country making appearances, but he was certainly more… Read more »

{Review} So Twisted by Melissa Marino @MelissaWrites2 @ForeverRomance

{Review} So Twisted by Melissa Marino @MelissaWrites2 @ForeverRomance

So Twisted is the first book in the bad behavior series by author Melissa Marino. The Bad Behavior series is a series of standalone contemporary romances that straddle the line between new adult and adult. I would still put them in the new adult category because the main character for So Twisted was in her twenties. But I can easily see this appealing to fans of both new adult and adult contemporary romances. So Twisted is a feel good romance and is a very quick read. It had its’ fair share of funny moments too. (And some moments that made me beyond embarrassed.) Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and I can’t wait to read books 2 and 3 of the series, both of which are already out. Binge readathon, anyone?? So Twisted is told in dual narrative between the two main characters, Callie and Aaron. Aaron is a single dad and Callie is the new live in nanny. While the overall story line is rather predictable (we all know… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

{Review+Giveaway} Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

Wintersong is a young adult magical fantasy by S. Jae-Jones. Wintersong is the story of the Goblin king. It is also a retelling of Labyrinth, but I know very little of that story so I can’t really speak on how good or bad of a retelling it was in that regard. But I can tell you that this was an enjoyable story with lots of music woven in. I liked the musical elements of the tale best. Overall, I found this story to be lacking…something…but I don’t really know exactly what it was. I’m not really sure it was that was holding me back from going from like to love with this one, but it was something. Overall though, Wintersong was a good read. I enjoyed it. Wintersong is the story of the Goblin King and Liesl. I loved the musical feel of the writing. Music plays a big part in the storyline of Wintersong but it also played a part in the flow of the story. Author S. Jae-Jones… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Legally Charming by Lauren Smith @LSmithAuthor

{Review+Giveaway} Legally Charming by Lauren Smith @LSmithAuthor

Legally Charming is the first book in the new adult contemporary romance Ever After series by Lauren Smith. This is my second book by Lauren, and I liked it more than I did the first book of hers. (Which was the first book in her British Stepbrother series.) Legally Charming was a very cute read. I enjoyed it. Since the series is called Ever After you can make some assumptions that they are going to be cute, slightly cheesy romances. And they are…but I dug that about this book. It was the kind of cheesy happy I was in the mood for. Legally Charming is the story of Felicity and Jared, who are swept up in a whirlwind quick romance. So if insta love isn’t your thing, this might not be the book for you. (They didn’t fall in love at first sight, but they did fall in love within a week.) But, like I said, I really liked the story and sweet romance between Jared and Felicity. I loved… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Con Man by @TTorrest

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Con Man by @TTorrest

Con Man is a contemporary romance by T. Torrest. Guys, it is no secret that I love love love makeover stories. There is just something about the character growth and the confidence they get, and even better if the romance is between the makeover guru and the client. I just eat it up. All the time. And Con Man is no different. I loved Con Man. It was such a fun read! Plus, we don’t only get to see one of his makeover students…we get to see 3! Con Man is the story of Ainsley and Lucas and Mia. The twist on the class makeover story is that Lucas used to be a geek and he used to know Ainsley. Yes, yes, yes. yes too all of it. I couldn’t read this book quick enough. I just kept getting more and more excited as it went on. And then there is Mia. Mia is another client of his that he has a great friendship with. I loved that this book… Read more »
