Cade Daly is already a king, but he's about to be offered the throne of an entirely different kingdom.
Bird shifter Cade rules the supernatural world of the West Coast of the U.S. Sure, it isn't the biggest kingdom, but the job comes with perks and doesn't take much work. Yet, he's getting restless, so he heads under water when he receives a summons from the Triton King.
Marigold Tidal is ready to be crowned queen. She's spent years preparing to take the Triton throne. So why is her uncle offering the job to a cocky bird shifter? And more importantly, why does she find him so infuriatingly attractive?
Tempers flare and red hot chemistry brews as Cade and Marigold find themselves in a battle neither saw coming.*New Adult Paranormal Romance - Part of the Chronicles/Pteron world*
Wreck is the first book in the new adult paranormal romance series called The Triton Chronicles by Alyssa Rose Ivy. I have read so many of Alyssa’s books and I have loved them all, but it has been some time since I have ventured back into the world of the Pterons, so when I saw that she had a new series called the Triton Chronicles set in her Chronicles world, I was all in. I have missed some of her series set in this world, but the good news is you do not need to read them all to be able to understand and enjoy The Triton Chronicles. I had no problem following along, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a few characters that I did remember from her earlier series pop up in this one again! It made me want to go back and read all of the series I have missed.
In Wreck we meet our main character Cade- who is the Preron king of California (west coast). Our story starts with Cade being summoned by the Triton King. he journeys to his underwater kingdom to see what the King wants, and he finds out that the King wants Cade to be his successor. Not only is this a big shock to Cade, but it royally peeves off the King’s niece- Marigold, who thought she was going to be her uncle’s successor. Given their initial dislike of each other, I was super excited to see their romance. I won’t call their romance insta-love, b/c there is certainly some hate on Marigold’s side, but it was insta-attraction that moved very quickly into something more. I didn’t mind it at all, but just wanted to point that out. Wreck is on the shorter side coming in at under 200 pages, so the story clips along at a fast pace throughout the story. There is a lot packed into this story, and Alyssa did a great job, as always, in setting the stage for what seems like it is going to be a surprising ride!
I was really surprised at a few of the twists that appeared in Wreck, especially with the ending. I can’t wait to see what is in store for us next, I think there is going to be a lot more of the overall mystery for us to unfold and learn about, and I’m super excited! The second book in the Triton Chronicles is out now, so I can’t wait to grab a copy and dive right back into Cade and Marigold’s story. If you are a fan of paranormal romance, then I think The Triton Chronicles is a quick read that you will really enjoy. As I mentioned earlier, you don’t need to read the other series set in the Chronicles world to enjoy Wreck, so you can start here. If you are an old fan of Alyssa’s Chronicles World, you will be happy to see lots of familiar faces make appearances in Wreck. I didn’t know everyone that showed up but I do remember a few of the characters and I was happy to check in on them again. I can’t wait to grab some of the series I missed in the Chronicles world and get caught up on all of them.
