Disgraced cop Henrik Vance is having a shit year. Banished to a derelict undercover squad, he’s been tasked with hunting down the daughter of Chicago’s most dangerous criminal. His obsession with saving the beautiful girl destroyed his career. And this time, it might cost his life.
Ailish O’Kelly doesn’t need a hero. She’ll save herself from her father’s violent criminal dynasty, thank you very much. Unfortunately, the sexy as sin cop who crashes her hideout isn’t hearing reason—especially not after the kiss that becomes much more.
His boss wants her as an informant. Ailish wants Henrik to keep whispering filthy things against her skin. But she knows too well the evil they’re up against, and when it comes down to protecting the man who owns her body and soul, she only has one choice...
Each book in the Crossing the Lines series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.
Raw Redemption is the fourth book in the adult suspense series, called Crossing the Line by Tessa Bailey. Each of the books can be read as standalones, and I tested that theory because I am new to this series. Raw Redemption is a little bit different than a lot of the books I lean towards. It felt darker than most I read, and it was. But it was a keep you on the edge of your seat book. One that I really enjoyed.
Raw Redemption is the story of one time cop, Henrik and Ailish. Henrik is the strong and very intense type. Raw Redemption is not what I would calla light and fluffy book. It is dark and gritty and really action packed. Know that going in. I wouldn’t bring this book to the pool. I would read it at night in bed, under covers when I wanted an action/adventure fix. It took a little bit of time for me to fall into the groove of the story because when we start Ailish is already on the run, and Henrik is already no longer a cop, but we don’t have a 100% clear picture as to why either of those things happened. You have to find them out in time. I liked the confusion, but at the same time I do kind of wish I had those answers up front. I think it would have helped me to form a connection with the characters faster.
I will say this, I had no problem picking up with this book. It reads as a standalone. If you like your romances with a dark edge, Raw Redemption is a great book for you. Fans of epic chase scenes and running from bad guys will also really enjoy the tension that Tessa Bailey worked into the plot of this story so well. She really is an excellent writer.
Bottom line: Raw Redemption is not a summer beach read, but it is a great read. One that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Perfect for fans of thrillers.

You’ve been reading a lot of 3 and a half star worthy books lately. I hope that soon you’ll manage to find one that pushes the rating a little higher into a four or five star read! Seems decent, but I don’t think I’ll pick this one up because I’m sure the issue with character connection would bother me. Great review nonetheless though!

You are totally right Olivia. I have been reading a lot of 3 and 3.5 star books lately. I hope I can find a 5 star read soon! I liked this one overall though. 🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by!
