The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that comes with her.
Lydia Green doesn't know whether to burn down the church or sit and cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it's with his best man is another thing all together. She narrowly escapes tying the knot and meets Vaughan only hours later.
Vaughan is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessman she thought she'd marry. This former musician-turned-bartender is rough around the edges and unsettled. But she already tried Mr. Right and discovered he's all wrong-maybe it's time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.
After all, what's wrong with getting dirty?
Dirty is the first book in the Dive Bar by Kylie Scott. This series is an adult contemporary romance series. I think I am the only person in the world that has not read Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive Series. I have been meaning to check it out for a while, but when I saw that she was coming out with a new series, I jumped all over it! And I am really glad that I did. Not only did I love meeting Vaughan and Lydia, but I really liked being introduced to this world and the Dive Bar series because I think there are so many more great books to come with the other characters. This is a series that I know I will be continuing.
The way that Lydia met Vaughan completely cracked me up. Let me paint the picture for you. She had just ran out of her wedding, in full wedding attire and she ran into the closest building to escape. Which happened to Vaughan’s house. Then she decided to hang out in the bathtub for some alone time, and in walks Vaughan ready to take a shower. Lydia gets soaked and Vaughan gets the shock of his life. It was just a hilarious scene. What the heck would you do if you opened your shower curtain and saw a soaking wet lady in a wedding dress sitting there pitifully? I honestly don’t know.
But I did know one thing right from that moment- I was going to love this book. Vaughan and Lydia instantly clicked with me…and with each other. They were just so much fun to read about. It was really cool to watch Lydia in particular. You can tell that she has such a vibrant personality and it was really sad to see it, and her, so muted at the start of the story. She really came to life when she was around Vaughan though. That was one of the things that made me love them together. They were alive together.
Bottom line: Dirty is a great book. Really, that is it. I have nothing else to say other than this is a really really great book and you should read it. I can’t wait to continue this series.

Shh… I’m making a little “confession” of sorts: I’ve never really read a romance novel. (Please don’t get me wrong– I’m not opposed or anything like that! I simply read other genres.)
This book is on one of my Amazon shopping lists, and is one of the few romance titles that I’ve had my eye on for a while.
(Shh… Little confession #2! I’ve never read an e-book before. Please don’t hate! :p ) I mention this one because… I bought an Amazon Fire on Prime Day, and it arrived in the mail today! Now I can load up on those MUCH more affordable e-books.
But I digress! 🙂
I’m glad that I caught this review. Now I know for sure that I want to check out this book! Thanks for the review. “Dirty,” soon you’ll be mine! 🙂
After reading your post on book two of this series… I decided to read this one the other day and I’m so mad that I waited so long – I loved it! I started book two yesterday 🙂 .. thanks for sharing!
