{Review+Giveaway} Player by Staci Hart

{Review+Giveaway} Player by Staci Hart

Player is a new adult standalone romantic comedy by author Staci Hart. I really love Staci’s books. They always deliver a great romance, with believable and swoonworthy characters, and the writing is always excellent. Player is no exception. I really enjoyed this book. It felt a bit different than her other novels, but the premise is one that I always enjoy. I love a good romance centered on a bet. In fact, you could say I am a sucker for this trope. It always seems to work out well for me and my reading experience. In Player we meet Sam and Val. They are both orchestra players on Broadway, which is a huge accomplishment in and of itself. Sam is also an actually player, he is up front with women about the fact that he is not looking for anything serious. Sam’s friend Ian is a total cad, which leads us to our Bet. Ian promises to stay away from Val as long as Sam pretends to date her for… Read more »

{Release Day Review} THE SPELLBOOK OF KATRINA VAN TASSEL by Alyssa Palombo @AlyssinWnderlnd @StMartinsPress

{Release Day Review} THE SPELLBOOK OF KATRINA VAN TASSEL by Alyssa Palombo @AlyssinWnderlnd @StMartinsPress

THE SPELLBOOK OF KATRINA VAN TASSEL: A Story of Sleepy Hollow by Alyssa Palombo. The Spellbook of Katrina Van Tassel is a retelling of the tale of Sleepy Hollow, but this time it is being told from the point of view of Ichabod Crane’s love interest, Katrina. I loved this switch in point of view because it offered a lot of great new insight and perspective into a story that I was already familiar with. Katrina breathed new life into the tale of the headless horseman. The Spellbook of Katrina Van Tassel is a perfect read for Halloween. I loved the gothic atmosphere vibe, paired with all of the supernatural elements of the story. It was a great combination for a mysterious and spooky read, but don’t worry, it also has plenty of romance woven in, which I also loved. Katrina Van Tassel and Ichabod Crane meet when Mr. Cranes comes into town as a new teacher. Watching him and Katrina meet and eventually fall in love was my favorite part… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Why I Loathe Sterling Lane by @IngridEPaulson @EntangledTeen

{Review+Giveaway} Why I Loathe Sterling Lane by @IngridEPaulson @EntangledTeen

Why I Loathe Sterling Lane is a young adult contemporary romance by Ingrid Paulson. Why I Loathe Sterling Lane felt kind of like 10 Things I hate about you, which is a movie that I love. It was a really fun read, and I would love to see more from these characters. Why I Loathe Sterling Lane is a standalone novel, but I really want to see a second book, maybe when Harper and Sterling are in college. That would be a lot of fun. Why I Loathe Sterling Lane is the story of Harper and Sterling. It is told from Harper’s point of view. Harper lives her life by a crazy, and rigid set of rules. Sterling Lane comes blowing into her life and throws all of her rules into chaos. I got a total kick out of Harper and Sterling. They were so similar it was kind of scary. I liked that they recognized that in one another as well. One of my favorite parts of the book was when Sterling… Read more »

If you are new to the series, check out my review of book one- Too Hot To Handle HERE and book two, Too Wild to Tame HERE Too Hard to Forget is the third book in the Romancing the Clarksons series by Tessa Bailey. I really loved book,  Too Hot to Handle. and I liked book two, Too Wild to Tame. This series is an adult contemporary romance series. Book one is still my favorite, but this second installment was good as well. I just love all of Tessa Bailey’s works. This book, Too Hard to Forget, might be my favorite book in the series yet! What I liked the most about this book and this series is the concept. I love a series of interconnected standalone novels, each focusing on a different character. There are tons of books which follow this pattern and it is a big winner for me. Even better if they are books that center around a… Read more »

{Review+Kindle Fire Giveaway} Off the Ice by @JulieCross1980 @EntangledTEEN

{Review+Kindle Fire Giveaway} Off the Ice by @JulieCross1980 @EntangledTEEN

Off the Ice is the first book in the young adult Juniper Falls series by Julie Cross. I have read a bunch of Julie’s books, and I love how diverse of an author she is. She can write all genres and moods of stories. I really enjoyed Off the Ice and I can’t wait to continue on in the series. It was a bit more drama filled than I was expecting. This is not a super light and fluffy young adult contemporary. This story has some grit to it. Off The Ice is the story of Claire and Tate. I liked both Claire and Tate but it took me some time to warm up to them. I didn’t instantly fall in love with them. In fact, the whole story takes some time to warm up. Off the Ice has a slower, more deliberate pace than some of Julie’s other stories. I could even see this story appealing to both young adult and new adult fans. It is upper young adult… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Hometown Cowboy by Sara Richardson

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Hometown Cowboy by Sara Richardson

Hometown Cowboy is the first book in the adult contemporary romance Rocky Mountain Riders series by Sara Richardson. This is the first book I have read by Sara, but it won’t be my last because I really enjoyed this cute read. It was a quick and satisfying, (mostly) fluffy read. Fans of small town romances will enjoy Hometown Cowboy, and the cast of characters will leave you excited to journey back to this town for future couple’s stories. Hometown Cowboy is Jessa and Lance’s tale. Lance starts out as a cocky son of a gun, and Jessa is sweet as pie. I was a little worried that he was going to be too much of a jerk for sweet little Jessa Mae, but surprisingly he won me over. They worked well together. The book follows a bit of a predictable plotline, but it turned out just the way I wanted  it to. My favorite part of all was the chemistry between Jessa and Lance. They have chemistry and URST in… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} CHAIN REACTION by Tara Wyatt

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} CHAIN REACTION by Tara Wyatt

Chain Reaction is the third, and final book, in the adult romantic suspense, Bodyguard series by Tara Wyatt. I have not read either of the first two books in the series, however; I have a thing for bodyguard stories, so when I saw Chain Reaction float into my email, I couldn’t pass it up. The books can be read as standalones, and I had no problem picking up with this installment. The plot sounds yummy, and it totally was! I really enjoyed this steamy bodyguard tale. There is lots of bickering, plenty of action and a sexy romance. Yes, please. Chain Reaction is Alexa and Zack’s story. This book has so many things going for it. First, a bodyguard. Second, an undercover bodyguard and third a fake turned real romance. Bodyguards and fake romances, I am all over this book. It was such a fun read. However; with as many fun and sexy elements as this book had, the actual plotline of the story was also pretty creepy. The suspense… Read more »

{Review} The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon @say_shannon @bloomsburykids

{Review} The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon @say_shannon @bloomsburykids

The Bone Season is the first book in the young adult fantasy/sci fi dystopian series, by the same name, by Samantha Shannon. I have put off reading this book for a while, and I am not really sure why. It was always a book that interested me on my TBR list, but like a million other titles, I just never got around to it. This year I charged myself with the goal of reading more books that have been sitting on my TBR list for far too long and one of the series near the top of my list was The Bone Season series. Especially with the release of the very anticipated third book later this year. I wanted to be caught up for the next book. And I am so glad that I finally read The Bone Season. It is a fantastic read that I would recommend to fantasy lovers everywhere. I think it will appeal to both fans of young adult and adult fantasy because the world that… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} THE BACHELOR AUCTION by Rachel Van Dyken

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} THE BACHELOR AUCTION by Rachel Van Dyken

The Bachelor Auction is the first book in Bachelors of Arizona series by Rachel Van Dyken. The Bachelors of Arizona series is an adult contemporary romance series, but I feel like it will have crossover appeal to the new adult audience as well. I enjoyed this book. It was a quick, fun and cute read, so a quick little mini review will do for this one. The Bachelor Auction is a a take on a Cinderella story, and I loved the main woman- Jane. She stole the show for me. I found her to be charming and delightful really. I also like Brock but I didn’t fully love him. I think Brock is the reason why out of all Rachel’s books I have read, this one is not my number one pick. It does have Rachel’s signature witty and fun writing style. I really love her writing, by the way. And because she is such a strong writer, her romances are always really enjoyable to read, but Brock was a… Read more »
