{Review} Chasing Rabbits by @Erin_Bedford

{Review} Chasing Rabbits by @Erin_Bedford

Chasing Rabbits is the first book in The Underground series by Erin R. Bedford. The Underground series is a new adult fantasy romance that is a really cool take on Wonderland. Think Alice in Wonderland, mixed with the Fae. Wonderland is really called the Underground and it composed of shadowlands, inbetweens and both the seelie and unseelie courts. I absolutely delighted in Erin Bedford’s take on the story. I thought it maintained the perfect craziness of Wonderland, which mixing in perfectly suited Fae fantasy elements. I think it is the perfect marriage actually. I loved this book, and I have already started read the second one. I couldn’t help myself. I needed more! The main character of Chasing Rabbits is Katherine. A young woman who stumbles into Wonderland chasing a rabbit. Sound familiar? Well, trust me, she is no Alice and though the characters might seem similar this is not the same tale of Alice in Wonderland you are used to. However; lots of my favorite elements were there. I… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Remembrance by @MegCabot @WmMorrowBks

{Review+Giveaway} Remembrance by @MegCabot @WmMorrowBks

Do you guys even know how exciting this is for me? Meg Cabot has been my favorite author for my whole reading life. Her books are the very first books that I remember completely devouring and re-reading in the young adult genre. And the Mediator series is my very favorite of my favorites. I have, no joke, read the mediator series at least 15 times. Remembrance  is book 7 in the Mediator series by Meg Cabot, and it takes place 15 years after book 6 left off. What I love the most about Remembrance is that the characters have grown up just like I have. So now this is an adult book. Suze is getting ready to marry off Jesse (who by the way, was my very first book boyfriend. And still one of my top book boyfriends of all time.) Reading Remembrance was like getting to reminisce with some of my older best friends. It was so great. Like being wrapped up in a big hug by someone you… Read more »

{ARC Review+Giveaway} Amber Smoke by Kristin Cast @KCastAuthor @DiversionBooks

{ARC Review+Giveaway} Amber Smoke by Kristin Cast @KCastAuthor @DiversionBooks

Amber Smoke is the first solo book by House of Night author, Kristin Cast. It is the start of a new young adult fantasy/mythology series, called the Escaped. I didn’t initially realize that this had to do with mythology when I read the description. It talked about souls escaping from their cages, but those cages are their prison in Tartarus. Once I started reading and realized this, I was super excited. Amber Smoke is a very fast paced and quick read. It set up the series pretty well, but not a whole ton actually happened in this book. And more questions were posed than answered. Still, I am more than intrigued enough to want to know what is going to happen next. Amber Smoke is told for multiple perspectives because the two main characters start out in different realms and don’t know each other. The furies had a son, Alek, that was to be the warrior of the underworld. To break a curse, he has to go above ground and… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Enchanted Rose by @Nadia_Nader @XpressoTours

{Review+Giveaway} The Enchanted Rose by @Nadia_Nader @XpressoTours

The Enchanted Rose is the first in a young adult paranormal magic series, called Misty Hills. Misty Hills is the mysterious town that Vivian is shipped off to after her mother passes away and her father freaks out at the idea of being a single father. (which is pretty crappy in and of itself.) But the result is that Vivian is dropped in the middle of a huge mystery basically. It was a cool little opener to what looks like it will be a good paranormal and magical series. The book was a little short, so it read like an introduction to this family curse. You don’t get a ton of answers because the questions really pile up. Vivian is quite the inquisitive teen, but you do get some answers. Just enough to pique my interest into wanting to read the second book. It was refreshing to see a book featuring a younger ya heroine. I feel like lately we have been seeing 17 and 18 year olds all over… Read more »

{Review} Reap and Repent by @LisaMedley

{Review} Reap and Repent by @LisaMedley

Reap and Repent is the first book in the Reaper Series. It is an urban fantasy series about reapers and about a new mysterious untrained reaper. I love the concept of the book, and I think the rest of the series has potential, but the first book was a little bumpy for me. I still liked it, but I didn’t love it as much as I initially hoped that I would. I read another book (I can’t remember the name) about a girl that could see aura colors for different paranormal creatures and I was fascinated by that idea. So when I found out that this main character, Ruth could see aura colors and could use that to determine when someone would die and what they were feeling, I was super excited to see what kind of world Lisa Medley had created with her reapers. And I did really like the world of her reapers. I loved that instead of being scary that within the first (really second) meeting between… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Into a Million Pieces by @AngelaVCook @RAPublishing

{Review+Giveaway} Into a Million Pieces by @AngelaVCook @RAPublishing

Into a Million Pieces is a young adult paranormal romance by Angela V. Cook. This is her debut novel. And it is about succubi! I was super excited because I think they are fascinating creatures, and I kind of love them ever since I found the show, Lost Girl, I have wanted to find some good books about the succubus. I found one Urban Fantasy story that I really liked, but I haven’t found many others. (Please let me know if you have any recommendations for me!) Into a Million Pieces was an interesting take on a succubus, and is a quick and enjoyable read. Allison and her twin sister, Jade are both succubi. But they couldn’t be more different. Jade embraces what she is and she loves kissing boys. Allison dresses to hide herself and goes out of her way to stay away from every single male. Their mother went on a succubus bender and ended up killing herself when they were both very little. They live with their… Read more »

{ARC Release Day #Review +Giveaway} Infinity Bell by @DevonMonk

Note: I will try my best, but there will probably be some spoilers from the first book. If you are new to the series, check out my review of House Immortal HERE. Infinity Bell is the second book in the Urban Fantasy Series, House Immortal. The First book, House Immortal, was one of my favorite books of 2014, so I beyond excited to get my hands on the second book. And even more excited when I opened up to the first page of the ARC and saw that I was quoted from my review of the first book. (that was a major sqeeing moment…I’m not going to lie.) I need to go out and buy a couple finished copies to spotlight on my bookshelf now. But not just because I was quoted in the book, because Infinity Bell is ever bit as amazing as the first book! I freakin’ love this series. Infinity Bell picks up right where the first book left off, and man oh man did I… Read more »

{ARC Review} Love Lattes and Mutants by @Sandra_Cox @KensingtonBooks

{ARC Review} Love Lattes and Mutants by @Sandra_Cox @KensingtonBooks

Love Latte and Mutants is the first book in the young adult science fiction Mutant Series. Piper’s mother was experimented on before she was born and injected with Dolphin DNA. After some time (we don’t really know too much of her mother’s backstory yet) she escaped and had Piper. Piper is interesting because while she is completely human she had dolphin characteristics, like a blowhole which allows her to stay under water for 30 minutes. Piper does a good job keeping a low profile until a boy comes along and screws it all up. Just kidding…kind of. But Tyler did force her into the spotlight a lot more. What I liked most about Piper was that she seemed to take on some siren-like qualities as well. Her voice was enchanting to males, so she had to hide that about her as well. Love Lattes and Mutants is a quick little read that I think sets up the series very nicely. I liked the book, but I feel like I have… Read more »

{Review} The Collectors’ Society by Heather Lyons @hymheather

Man, oh Man did I start 2015 out with a bang. The Collectors’ Society is such an amazing read. I want to read it over and over again. I loved this book so much. I just got done making my favorite books of 2014 list and I have already placed this one on my favorites of 2015 list. It is that good. You might have noticed that my last 3 or so reviews have been kind of meh on the positive end and even kind of negative. Well this one will not be. I don’t think I will be able to convey how much I loved this book, or just how awesome I think it is. Just listen to the concept behind this book and you will see what I mean. The Collectors’ Society is a secret society comprised of characters from different book worlds, all coming together to “edit” themselves into different book universes to keep the books from being “deleted” by some mysterious bad guys. Come on! It… Read more »

Slowly, Jack’s finger nudges me back to look at him. “You know I am poor and can’t afford a ring, right?” “You’re just… Read more »
