It’s been happening since Min was eight. Every two years, on her birthday, a strange man finds her and murders her in cold blood. But hours later, she wakes up in a clearing just outside her tiny Idaho hometown—alone, unhurt, and with all evidence of the horrifying crime erased.
Across the valley, Noah just wants to be like everyone else. But he’s not. Nightmares of murder and death plague him, though he does his best to hide the signs. But when the world around him begins to spiral toward panic and destruction, Noah discovers that people have been lying to him his whole life. Everything changes in an eye blink.
For the planet has a bigger problem. The Anvil, an enormous asteroid threatening all life on Earth, leaves little room for two troubled teens. Yet on her sixteenth birthday, as she cowers in her bedroom, hoping not to die for the fifth time, Min has had enough. She vows to discover what is happening in Fire Lake and uncovers a lifetime of lies: a vast conspiracy involving the sixty-four students of her sophomore class, one that may be even more sinister than the murders.
WOW, just wow! Nemesis is the first book in the young adult science fiction series, called Project Nemesis by author Brendan Reichs. I cannot stop thinking about this book! I loved so much about this novel, and even as I am typing this , I am itching to ditch my computer and grab my copy of the sequel so I can lock myself in a room and read read read. Nemesis is great for fans of science fiction, dystopians and mysteries. Let me break down what I enjoyed about Nemesis for you.
One I loved the msyterious vibe that Brendan Reichs created. This is a book that doesn’t give you a lot of answers off the bat, and it even leaves you with some unanswered questions. Which made me all the more excited to start book two, Genesis. There is a lot going on in this novel. And I loved that there were really two parallel plot lines featured, which kept me constantly wondering if or when they were going to merge or what direction the book was going to morph into.
First we have our main character, Min, who…wait for it…gets murdered every two years. Yes, you read that right. Every other year on her birthday the same man murders her. She then finds herself alive again several hours later. That fact alone made me pick up this book. I needed to know more. Why does this guy kill her repeatedly? How does she keep coming back to life? What the heck is going on?
But then we have the larger plot line of the asteroid threatening to destroy the earth, which understandably has everyone a bit worried. On top of all of this, we have secrets galore, awesome main characters ( I will admit that a few of the secondary characters fell a little flat for me at times, but the plot more than made up for that.) and a plot that will have you turning the pages as fast as your eyes can read because you just need to know what is going to happen next. Simply put, Nemesis had me riveted from start to finish. I loved this book and I cannot wait to dive into Genesis. Bravo, Brendan Riechs!

Very interesting cover. I do read some scifi and your review makes me think this could be a good one for me.
