Obsidio is the final book in the young adult series, The Illuminae Files by author duo Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff. Let’s start out by saying I LOVED OBDISIO! It was a crazy, crazy ride and I cannot stop thinking about this book, about the characters and about this series. If you have read obsidio, you know what I mean. If you have not, what are you waiting for?? Because I know so many people dearly love this series, I am going to do something a little different. This review is not for the many, many fans of the series. No, this review is for the people who are reluctant to read the series because Science Fiction is not their thing, or because of the hype or because of any number of other reasons. I used to be one of you. But now that I have read the first two books twice and binge read the entire series for the Obsidio release, I have to convert you to become as… Read more »

{Review} Nemesis by @BrendanReichs #ProjectNemesis #GenesisBlogTour @PenguinTeen

WOW, just wow! Nemesis is the first book in the young adult science fiction series, called Project Nemesis by author Brendan Reichs. I cannot stop thinking about this book! I loved so much about this novel, and even as I am typing this , I am itching to ditch my computer and grab my copy of the sequel so I can lock myself in a room and read read read. Nemesis is great for fans of science fiction, dystopians and mysteries. Let me break down what I enjoyed about Nemesis for you. One I loved the msyterious vibe that Brendan Reichs created. This is a book that doesn’t give you a lot of answers off the bat, and it even leaves you with some unanswered questions. Which made me all the more excited to start book two, Genesis. There is a lot going on in this novel. And I loved that there were really two parallel plot lines featured, which kept me constantly wondering if or when they were going… Read more »

{Guest Post+Giveaway} War World by Rod C. Spence

{Guest Post+Giveaway} War World by Rod C. Spence

Today I am really excited to have Rod C. Spence, the author of War World (which comes out on Feb 5th) He is here to share 10 things we didn’t know about him, and he has an awesome giveaway down below so be sure to enter that!  10 things you didn’t know about author Rod C. Spence I had four wisdom teeth removed when I was high school junior and I looked like a green chipmunk with lockjaw. I spent two weeks recovering and it was during this period I read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings – what I else was I going to do? It gave me a love for fantasy. I just recently devoured Ready Player One for the second time on audiobook. Most of the plotting of the novel was like a journey down memory lane for me! Zork, Planetfall and other text-based games were all we had back in the 80’s and players like me dreamed of the future and the lifelike games that… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} #Otherworld by @jasonsegel & @bankstirregular @DelacortePress

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} #Otherworld by @jasonsegel & @bankstirregular @DelacortePress

Otherworld is the first book in the young adult science fiction series of the same name by author duo Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller. I know they have teamed up to write the nightmare! series, but this is the first book I have read from them. I love the concept of Otherworld because virtual reality technology is developing at an astounding rate, so it is the perfect time to visit a crazy virtual reality world and see what kind of implications that might have. And Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller took that concept and blew it out of the freakin’ water. I am chomping at the bit for the second book! Otherworld is hands down, one of the best novels I have read all year. I loved it. There are so many layers to Otherworld. First, there is the new Otherworld headset technology that was released to a couple thousand test users, which was awesome by itself. You basically got to experience a whole world where you could do anything… Read more »

{Review} #Invictus by @ryangraudin @TheNovl

Invictus is a young adult time travel adventure story from author Ryan Graudin. This is the first novel I have read of Ryan’s and I absolutely loved it. It was such a fun fun read. I loved all the historical figures and time periods we got to visit. This book will be perfect for fans of the Passenger series, Dark Matter and Firefly. I love a book with a crew. It lends itself to awesome characters with lots of different personalities. And Invictus did not disappoint. I finished this book in record time and I am left pining for more. Far is the main character of Invictus and he was actually born outside of time. He was born on a time travel vehicle while it was on a mission, so he is a bit of an anomaly. This book just gripped me right at the start. I don’t want to get into too much of the details because watching everything unfold was half the fun for me. But Far finds… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Body Parts by @JessKapp @DiversionBooks

{Review+Giveaway} Body Parts by @JessKapp @DiversionBooks

Body Parts by Jessica Kapp is a young adult science fiction. I don’t read a ton of science fiction/ dystopian fiction, but every now and again one sounds too good to pass up. Body Parts was that novel that sounded too good for me to pass up. I loved the concept of a world that has a pill to fix almost anything. Of course, a lot of the fixes were superficial, but some of them were almost super power like. It was really interesting. However, the pills came at a cost. (Just like in the real world.) the pills call stress and failure of some organs. Our main character Tabitha is being trained with others her age to try and make them attractive candidates for adoption. I liked Tabitha. She was a character that I developed an attachment to more and more as the book went on. But I wouldn’t say Body Parts was a very character driven story. It was more plot driven. Initially, I was super interested in… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Hearts we Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones @em_llojo ‏@TheNovl @LittleBrownYR ‏

The Hearts we Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones was an incredible read! It was so different than a lot of the books that I normally read and it pulled off the concept so well. To say I was impressed with this book is an understatement. The Hearts we Sold is a book that I will remember for a very long time. In the Hearts we Sold Demons inhabit the world along with people. The demons claim they are independent third parties with no agenda to promote, but they are interested in making bargains with anyone that would like. They will grant a wish for a person in exchange for a body part and a number of years of service to the demon. Dee makes a deal with a demon, even though she starts out by saying she never would. In her 2 years of service she meets all kinds of other people that have also traded their hearts in exchange for their wish. I found this world to be completely fascinating…. Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Illuminae by @AmieKaufman & Jay Kristoff @misterkristoff

Illuminae is the first book in the young adult series, The Illuminae Files #1 by author duo Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff. I think I am one of the last people in the world to finally jump on board and read Illuminae. Now that the paperback version of the book is coming out, and book 3 in the series is coming out later this year, I knew it was finally time to read book one. I have heard nothing but amazing things about the book, and I have heard the series being called different enough times, that I had to see for myself. And now I can confidently say…I am a huge Illuminae fan! This book is so awesome. I know it has been said a lot, but the format of this series is like nothing else I have ever read. I absolutely loved it. It has to be super difficult to write and put together because I could tell how complicated and detailed the world is. I mean the… Read more »
