I have had a whirlwind of emotions this past week. You may have remembered me talking about one of my dogs, Harry. He is my baby. A few years ago he was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and he was given a few months to a few years. He is 14 years old now, and last week he took a very quick turn for the worse. I drove home last Sunday night. The poor baby couldn’t keep food or water down, and he was coughing up something terrible. I stayed up with him all night rubbing his chest every time he coughed. Neither one of us got one moment of sleep. I felt so bad for him. We took him to the vet Monday morning, and I thought that was it. I thought his cancer had spread.
The vet took some xrays and came back and said that the cancer did not spread, but that Harry had pneumonia. The meds he is on for his cancer, suppressed his immune system so much that even though we are in south Florida in September, the pneumonia set right up in his lungs. We got him some medicine, and wouldn’t you know it…he was able to keep it down, and then he could keep down water….and then food! He is still weak, but he is doing so much better! I am home again this weekend to hang out with him. He still has a cough but his doctor seems to think he is going to be able to get rid of his pneumonia. He is such a little trooper, and I am so happy that he is doing so well. I love this little guy so much.
P.S. the new puppy is doing great. He loves Harry and Albie (new puppy- named after Albus Severus Potter)loves to play with ronnie. He reminds me of Scrappy Doo. Whenever he barks I can hear scrappy’s voice in my head saying “lemme at him!” haha Here are some pics of Albie, because I don’t want him to feel left out.
