{Mini Review+Excerpt} BEING BROOKE by Emma Hart @EmmaHartAuthor

{Mini Review+Excerpt} BEING BROOKE by Emma Hart @EmmaHartAuthor

Being Brooke is a hilarious New Adult romantic comedy by Emma Hart. I loved this book. It completely cracked me up, and put me in a great mood. Brooke is hilarious. She is quite the character, and she can certainly dish it out…to everyone, including her best friend Cain. Unfortunately she can’t follow her own Life Tip #1, “Don’t fall in love with your best friend.” Which is great for me, because I happen to love best friends romances. And Being Brooke is probably the best romantic comedy I have read all year. It was certainly one of the funniest books I have read all year. If you like Romantic comedies you have to check this one out. Brooke totally cracked me up from the first page to the last page. I couldn’t get enough of her. I loved listening to her inner dialogues and I really loved her interactions with Cain. They were both hilarious and sweet. I am such a sucker for a friends turned romance story. It… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Mind Mates by @MaryHughesBooks @Barclay_PR

{Review+Giveaway} Mind Mates by @MaryHughesBooks @Barclay_PR

Mind Mates is the second book in the Pull of The Moon series by Mary Huges. I had no idea that this wasn’t the first book in the series while I was reading it, but it does make sense because there are a lot of terms and things going on. But Mary does include a glossary of terms at the start of the book to help you keep foreign words in order, which I really appreciated. I enjoyed Mind Mates. It is a quick paranormal romance read dealing with wizards and shifters and a nice little action adventure mystery. Mind Mates alternates between Emma, a wolf shifter, and Gabriel’s, a wizard, point of view. I do wish the point of view shifts were a little better labeled, but overall it wasn’t too hard to keep track of who was speaking or thinking. I really liked Emma and Dr. Light. I loved that Dr. Light is a big ole techie. And Emma is pretty quirky and cute herself. They make a… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Laws of Attraction by @RC_Boldt

{Review+Giveaway} Laws of Attraction by @RC_Boldt

Laws of Attraction by R.C. Boldt is the fourth book in the adult romance teach me series. Each of the books in the Teach me series work as standalones. I have not read any of the previous three books,. but I wasn’t lost at all. I will say this though, now that I have expereinced the magic of R.C. Boldt’s books, I need more. I really loved Laws of Attraction. This is why I loved this book so much. Does the above quote look like the words of a player. A guy who would not settle down for anyone? No, but he is just a big ole softie. I love it when anti- love guys are the most romantic ones of all. And the Laws of Attraction was a very romantic story. At least, it felt that way to me. I loved Lawson so much! All the way down to his goofy t-shirts. I loved him so much that I felt bad for pegging him in a certain stereotype from… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Player and the Pixie by @LHCosway & Penny Reid @ReidRomance

{Review+Giveaway} The Player and the Pixie by @LHCosway & Penny Reid @ReidRomance

The Player and the Pixie is the second book in the Rugby by author duo L.H. Cosway & Penny Reid. I am so excited that I read this book. Yes, I loved the first book in the series, but even more so this is my first 5 star book in a while. I have been on a 3.5 star reading kick for about a month now it feels like. It isn’t what I would call a reading slump by any means, because I have actually been reading a ton lately, and I have been enjoying the books, but I just haven’t really been crazy in love, over the top excited about a book for what feels like a while (but in reality might only be a couple of weeks AKA about 20 books ago.) The Player and The Pixie changed all of that! I freakin’ loved this book. We are talking top books of 2016, loved! I liked it more than the first book in the series, which was also… Read more »

{Mini Review} The Shakespeare Conspiracy by Jeffrey Hunter McQuain

{Mini Review} The Shakespeare Conspiracy by Jeffrey Hunter McQuain

The Shakespeare Conspiracy is an action thriller that is very much in the vein of The DaVinci Code. Except, for fans of the playwright, William Shakespeare. (obviously.) I loved that the author,  Jeffrey Hunter McQuain is an actual expert on William Shakespeare. I thought that was evident from the writing and plot. I loved the way he was able to weave in the smallest of accurate details. It worked really well and added some fun for the reader of the story. I have a passing knowledge of Shakespeare from college and my time studying at Oxford, but it only really scratches the surface on what there is to know about this man, and about his professional career. Jeffrey Hunter McQuain does an excellent job of making this book seem polished as well as loose and approachable. While the author may be an academic, The Shakespeare Conspiracy reads very easily. I got swept up in Christopher’s journey really quickly. I loved all the clues and hints in Shakespeare’s works. The anagrams… Read more »
