Summary (from Goodreads)
Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can’t help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she’s never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.
But now she’s moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.
Only she can’t. Because even here, he finds her. That’s how desperately he wants her back. She knows he’s no guardian angel, and his dark world isn’t exactly heaven, yet she can’t stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.
But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

My Review:

Can I just say how much I LOVE Meg Cabot??! She is my favorite author. She is amazing and her books never fail to put me in a good mood! I know that I can pick up any book of hers confidently, knowing that I will enjoy it. This book was no different. It looks like it is going to be a GREAT series! This book did a really nice job of setting everything up and from the way this book ended, I cannot wait to read the next book ASAP!

I am loving my mythology books recently and this is such a great addition to their ranks. After reading The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter I kind of fell in love with Hades. So I could not wait to pick up another underworld mythology series. This book was very different than The Goddess Test, but it was equally wonderful!

I liked the setting. I am from Florida so I know the keys area well and I liked seeing everything come to life in a setting that I could easily imagine. Pierce is really cool, and I felt so bad for her that trouble always seems to follow her around, and as a result people don’t think very highly of her. I hate it when character’s that I like get a bad rep by the other characters. I do hope they get what they deserve in the other books. And there is just something about John…I want to see more of him, for sure!

Abandoned incorporates the concept of the Furies into this book, and I really enjoyed that aspect. It was a good addition to the mythology. I was interested in this book from page one, but once I got to the middle of the book I could not put it down. I seriously did not even want to stop reading to go and eat dinner with my family.

Great book, this series looks like it is going to be AWESOME!

5/5 Gavels!

  1. I’ve been doing a mini-tour of blogger reviews of Abandon – so interesting to see different opinions and I love that you’re familiar with the Keys! I’ve only visited Key West (did the gorgeous drive from Miami) and I loved it. 🙂

  2. I LOVE Meg Cabot, she’s been one of my favourites for a pretty long time now 🙂 And I’m so glad you like this book! I’ve read quite mixed reviews of this one so I wasn’t sure if it’s good or … not so good. Thanks for the honest review!

Have you read the Heather Wells series, by the way? 🙂 That’s my all time favourite! xxx

  5. It is so nice to see positive reviews and comments on Abandon. I adored this book. When I finished reading it, I went to the library and picked up the Mediator series and , Du Du Du Dummm, I loved it too. It made me chuckle almost every page. So, thanks so much for your positive review of a great novel. I can’t wait to read Underworld in just a few short months!

  7. I love Meg Cabot and I could not wait to read her Mythology Re-telling! I have read both Abandon and Underworld and all I have to say is that they are AMAZING!

If you love Hades you should read Asphodel by Lauren Hammond 🙂

I read this book. I borrowed it from the library and then, I won it from Ms. Cabot. I was her 100,000 Facebook fan. I’m not a huge fan of Ms. Cabot’s heroines. Most of them are those girls that pretend to be strong, but at the same time, they’re weepy and breakable and fake. And a little crazy. I read Underworld too. It was WORSE. Trust me. I gave this book three stars, for the potential, and Underworld two. It had some plot to it, but I hated how pierce used John left and right. So, in comparison, Abandon seemed pretty good. But, thanks for the review!!!!! 🙂
