{Review} The Secret of a Heart Note by @StaceyLeeAuthor @KTegenBooks

The Secret of a Heart Note is a young adult standalone, magical realism romance by author Stacey Lee. I LOVED this book. And when I say I loved it, I really, really loved it. This book was so much more than I was expecting it to be. And I mean that in the best way possible. Because I was expecting this book to be a cute contemporary romance, but I didn’t realize the depth that the aromateur part of the story would be. I fell in love with the idea of someone mixing elixirs and smelling out the subtle notes and scents that make up a person. I really loved the idea of that. And Stacey Lee did an excellent job of making the world of Mim and her mom, the world of aromateurs come to life. Mim is an awesome character. I loved her. She is kind of an outcast, but as sweet as can be. I loved her interactions with her classmates. So much, that I would love… Read more »

{Mini Review Monday} #Passenger by @alexbracken & Da Vinci’s Tiger by @L_M_Elliott

Passenger is such a cool book. It is a young adult time travel fantasy, and it is the first book in the Passenger series by Alexandra Bracken. What I liked most about passenger, was that it was such an interesting book. And I know interesting is a way too overused word in reviews, but it really fits here. I am often times wary of over-hyped books, but Passenger totally lived up to the hype in my opinion. Passenger is a time traveling adventure that will have you flipping pages so fast. I could not put this book down. I loved the writing and the story. I loved how Alexandra takes you so many different places and to so many different times. It was such a fun story, and really beautifully done. If you are looking for a new adventure, pick up Passenger. But beware of the cliffhanger ending. Da Vinci’s Tiger is a beautiful story, full of rich historical details that left me breathless for more. Da Vinci’s Tiger takes… Read more »

{ARC Review+Giveaway} #ShadeMe by Jennifer Brown @JenBrownBooks @EpicReads

Shade Me is the first book in the young adult mystery and suspense thriller, Nikki Kill series. Nikki sees emotions as different colors. It is a phenomenon known as synesthesia, and I find it completely fascinating. I have read a few magical books where witches or the like have an ability that is similar to synesthesia, but it was really very interesting to see Nikki in a more contemporary/mystery suspense setting with this ability. I found Shade Me to be a really fun ride of a read. The mystery was kept me interested and engaged until the very end. I didn’t always love the characters, but I did like them, and with as action packed of a plot, liking them was more than enough for me. Nikki is the main character, and I can see where she would feel completely overwhelmed by her synesthesia. That has to be like sensory overload. Which could account for why I sometimes found Nikki to be a bit too brash. Even so, I was… Read more »
