{Review} Controlled Burn by @ShannonStacey @CarinaPress

Controlled Burn is the second book in the Boston Fire series by Shannon Stacey. Each of the books can be read as a standalone, and I have to admit that I had no idea this was book 2 in a series, until I pulled it up on goodreads to write this review. (That should tell you that it really can be read a true standalone.) Now I am very curious to check out who book one is about, and get my hands on a copy of that as well. Controlled Burn is a great contemporary romance. I really connected with the subject matter of the book because it deals with something near and dear to my heart with the elderly and the issues they face while aging. It warmed my heart to see Jessica come to help out her grandparents, even though she had never met them before. It was really touching to see. And I loved how real their family dynamic was. There was no black and white good… Read more »

{Guest Post+Giveaway} Controlled Burn by Shannon Stacey

What Makes a Swoon-Worthy Romance Hero? With so many characters in a romance novel it can be hard for a hero to shine, especially if the book is part of an ongoing series. But he’s the lead, so he needs to be a man the reader can and will fall head over heels for. Whether he’s a firefighter or a cowboy or a vampire, there are things we look for in a man when it comes to happily ever after. Abs. Yes, a swoon worthy romance hero will have rippled abs the heroine itches to run her hands over. If you’ve seen the cover for Controlled Burn, the second book in my Boston Fire series, you know my hero, Rick Gullotti, doesn’t lack in the sexy abs department. But Rick, who’s a lieutenant with the fire department, is a lot more than his looks. One of the things I love most about him, and about most of the heroes from favorite books, is his sense of family. Besides having a… Read more »

{Review} Under The Lights by Shannon Stacey

{Review} Under The Lights by Shannon Stacey

Under the Lights is the first book in the contemporary romance series, called the boys of Fall series. I originally thought this was going to be a new adult series, but it is an adult contemporary romance series. The cover was a bit misleading for me, so I wanted to be sure to point that out. I really liked this as a small town sweet romance, but the book didn’t blow my socks off. I liked Chase and I really liked Kelly. And I loved what they were doing for their towns football team. The love that everyone has for coach is so evident throughout Under The Lights. The town is going through some hard times, and their high school’s football team is being cut within the next school year if the town can’t raise the funds to keep the program running. And for Kelly’s dad, coach- football is basically his life. He loves coaching and all of his boys. I thought it was so heartwarming how the whole town,… Read more »
