{Review+Giveaway} Lycan’s Blood Queen by Catherine Edward

{Review+Giveaway} Lycan’s Blood Queen by Catherine Edward

Lycan’s Blood Queen is the first in the adult paranormal romance duology called the Randolph Duology, by Catherine Edward. I was very intrigued by the summary of this book, and I love books that feature more than one kind of creature because I really enjoy reading about different authors takes on paranormal creatures. The Randolph Duology features Lycans, Vampires and Witches. A classic mix, but we get to see a twist on one of the creatures which I really enjoyed. Lycan’s Blood Queen had a bit of a rocky start. I was confused when I first started reading. I didn’t know what was going on and I wasn’t getting to know any of the characters very well. Honestly, I almost put the book down and went to try something else. But I decided to keep reading to see if the pieces came together for me, and I am very glad that I did. I ended up really enjoying Lycan’s Blood Queen, and I am certainly very interested in reading the… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} No More Bad Dates by Kate O’Keeffe

{Review+Giveaway} No More Bad Dates by Kate O’Keeffe

No More Bad Dates is an adult contemporary romantic comedy by Kate O’Keeffe. It is the first book in the high tea series, which is taglined as a cozy cottage cafe story. I am unsure at the moment if all of the books in the series will be standalones or if you will need to read them in order. If I had to guess, I would think they are will be set in the same world, but will all act as standalone cozy romances. I have to say I don’t love the cover because it reminds me too much of Barbie, but I do love the story setup. In No More Bad Dates we meet our main character Sophie, who gets dumped at a wedding by a royal jerk. Because, seriously…who does that??! Oh don’t worry, he had a great reason. Because Sophie has been burned one too many times, she decides to have her friends help her pick out guys to date before she dates them. This is an… Read more »

{Excerpt+Giveaway} Shadow Caster by Debbie Cassidy

{Excerpt+Giveaway} Shadow Caster by Debbie Cassidy

Shadow Caster Debbie Cassidy (The Nightwatch Academy #1) Publication date: September 10th 2019 Genres: New Adult, Romance, Urban Fantasy Murdering humans is a huge no-no and comes with an off-with-your-head sentence. Doesn’t matter if you don’t remember doing the crime. I killed a human, and no, it wasn’t on purpose, but that shit doesn’t matter to the council. I’m facing death. So, when I’m offered a deal to avoid execution, I’d be a fool not to take it, even if it means leaving the human world and urban life behind to enroll in the Nightwatch Academy – a gothic monstrosity hidden from human eyes, located way too close to the largest tear in the fabric of our reality. It would be fun if I had any inclination of becoming a member of the Watch or supporting the shadow knights at keeping the Formorian threat at bay. But heck, the monsters beyond the mist aren’t my problem. I have personal demons to deal with. Once I’m out, the Watch can shove… Read more »

{ARC Review+Giveaway} Realm of Knights by Jennifer Anne Davis

{ARC Review+Giveaway} Realm of Knights by Jennifer Anne Davis

Realm of Knights is a young adult fantasy book and is the start of the Knights of the Realm series by author Jennifer Anne Davis. To say I was excited when I first heard about this novel, and series being releases, is a huge understatement. Fantasy is my favorite genre by far, and Jennifer Anne Davis has written one of my favorite fantasy series of all time. (Her Reign of Secrets series is EPICALLY AMAZING, if you have not checked it out already) Bottom line: I was pumped to see a new fantasy series by her and after I have read Realm of Darkness…dare I say…I might have a new favorite series. I loved this book so much! I am already itching for book 2. In Realm of Knights we meet our main character Reid. Reid is the fifth daughter of the Duke of Ellington. Her father is the Duke in a land that only allows title to pass to male heirs, so when Reid’s mom passes away giving birth… Read more »

{Q&A+Guest Recipe+Giveaway} Wonderland Academy by @MelanieKarsak

{Q&A+Guest Recipe+Giveaway} Wonderland Academy by @MelanieKarsak

What inspired you to write Wonderland Academy? I’m an Alice in Wonderland junkie. Seriously, half my T-shirts, most of my socks, and one wall in my office are Alice themed. I love Lewis Carroll’s whimsical world. I imagined it would be fun, and strange, to attend magic school there. Wonderland magic would be a little mad but very dangerous. It seemed like a challenge to imagine what learning Wonderland magic would be like. I also want to try out a new genre. Like the rest of the book world, I love Harry Potter with a passion. I wanted to try my hand at developing a magical world with it’s own magic school. Tell us about your main character: My main character is Alice “Lacey” Crane. Lacey goes by her middle name. She’s an interesting character. She’s bookish and a big geek, but when we meet her, she’s in a dark place in her life. There was a shooting at her school. She and her boyfriend tried to stop the shooter,… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Mind Games by Shana Silver

{Review+Giveaway} Mind Games by Shana Silver

Mind Games is a dystopian sci-fi thriller by author Shana Silver. I don’t read a ton of science fiction and I haven’t read a good dystopian in a long while, so I was pretty excited to dive into Mind Games. While I did figure out some aspects of the mystery, I still really enjoyed this novel. It is the first time I have seen swoon reads go in this direction, and I have to say I am really excited to see them branch out from contemporary romances. (though you know I do love a good contemporary romance. But sometimes it is fun to mix things up). Mind Games is a fun ride of a story that fans of sci-fi, dystopians and mysteries and thrillers will all enjoy. In Mind Games we meet our main character, Arden. Arden and her friends attend a school geared towards science and technology (STEM school) and with the skills that Arden learned at school she becomes a pretty great hacker. But she is no ordinary… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The CAIT LENNOX: FEMME FATALE Series by Roderick Donald

{Review+Giveaway} The CAIT LENNOX: FEMME FATALE Series by Roderick Donald

The CAIT LENNOX: FEMME FATALE Series  is an urban fantasy series by Roderick Donald. The series is taglined as Urban Fiction with a Paranormal Twist. The series currently has three books released, however; this review is for the first book in the series (which could also be considered a full length prequel to the series) called The Awakening. The Awakening gives the readers a lot of useful background information on the events leading up to our main character getting her “gift”. It is literally about the awakening of the powers she will have. I felt like the plot was a bit too slow in parts, and overall I found this to be a decent read but it didn’t blow me away. I am still interested in reading the next book, but it will have to pick up the pace a bit to keep my interest. It was an interesting start to the series, but I kind of wish our main character, Cait, got the gift of her powers earlier in… Read more »
