Two Thousand Years by M. DaltoPages: 310
Published by The Parliament House on December 11, 2018
Genres: New Adult, Fantasy & Magic
Two thousand years ago, the Prophecy of Fire and Light foretold the coming of the Queen Empress who would lead the Empire into a time of peace and tranquility. But instead of the coming of a prosperous world, a forbidden love for the Empress waged a war that ravaged the land, creating a chasm between the factions, raising the death toll of innocent lives until the final, bloody battle.
Centuries later, Alexandra, a twenty-two-year-old barista living in Boston, is taken to an unfamiliar realm of mystery and magic where her life is threatened by Reylor, its banished Lord Steward. She crosses paths with Treyan, the arrogant and seductive Crown Prince of the Empire, and together they discover how their lives, and their love, are so intricately intertwined by a Prophecy set in motion so many years ago.
Alex, now the predestined Queen Empress Alexstrayna, whose arrival was foretold by the Annals of the Empire, controls the fate of her new home as war rages between the Crown Prince and Lord Steward. Either choice could tear her world apart as she attempts to keep the Empire's torrid history from repeating itself. In a realm where betrayal and revenge will be as crucial to her survival as love and honor, Alex must discover whether it is her choice - or her fate - that determines how she survives the Empire's rising conflicts.
Two Thousand Years is the first book in the Empire Saga by author M. Dalto. The Empire Saga is a new adult fantasy romance, my very favorite kind! I really enjoyed two Thousand years and I can already tell that The Empire Saga is going to be a series that I will love! I am already itching to get my hands on the next book! I don’t see too many new adult fantasy’s but it is one of my very favorite genres, especially when there is romance involved.
Two Thousand Years starts with a setup that I have found I really enjoy. Our main character, Alexandra, is a normal girl living a very normal life, before she gets swept away into a fantasy world. I mean, who doesn’t dream of that at least once? I ended up liking Alex, and I think she is the type of character that I will continue to like more and more as the books go on, and the series progresses and grows. But she started out pretty strong. I mean she was dumped into a crazy new world, and once we learned about the prophesy things got even crazier. I do wish we got a little more background on the prophecy itself, but that might be something we learn more about in upcoming books. I have a feeling there are plenty of twists, turns and surprises up M. Dalto’s sleeves, and I cannot wait to discover what they are!
As much as I liked Alex as a character, there was one character that completely stole my heart, and what was Treyan! Can you say swoon? I loved him throughout the whole novel, but as a character he also manages to have impressive growth from the start to end of the novel. He just kept getting better and better! I will have more on Treyan and Alex after I read the sequel, so hold tight for my romance thoughts after the next book, but for now, just know that I love Treyan with a serious fierceness. And then we have our villain- Reylor. He is an interesting fellow, and one that I am seriously looking forward to learning more about. I did feel like his character development felt a little flat at times in the book, but I think we will peel back more of his layers as the series progresses. Once we do, I think Reylor might be one of the most interesting characters in the series!
Bottom line: If you are a fan of fantasy romance, and you are looking for a great new adult fantasy novel, you need to check out Two Thousand Years. This book has an excellent world set up and a fantastic plot. It is one of my favorite books of the year, and I can’t wait to continue on with this series! I need book 2 in my hands right now.
