Summary(from Goodreads):

Ava-Claire Sullivan’s first mistake was becoming vampire Peter Mackintire’s personal blood bank. Her second mistake was falling in love with him.
Now it’s Ava’s job to make sure he never loves her in return. A pact Peter made nearly a hundred years ago means loving someone will kill him. If she can figure out how to free him from his promise, it might kill her, make her immortal, or lead to the love she wants so badly.
But if she doesn’t, at best, her heart will break…and at worst, Peter will die.

See my review of book 1, Nocturnal HERE

I think that Nightmare is even better than book one, Nocturnal. I felt like we really got to dive into the meat of the story, and I loved that we got to know the characters better.

Peter and Ava get so much closer in Nightmare. It is crazy how close they get. But it never felt rushed or exaggerated. I really enjoyed watching their progression. And if you remember, in my review of book one I stated that I wanted to get to know Peter more, and find out more about his past. Well in Nightmare, you get to do just that! Peter slowly starts to share bits of himself with Ava.

Another interesting concept here was the “claiming” of Ava. I really liked how the whole thing was described as Ava and Peter were experiencing it. It was well done.

The Noctalis Chronicles are turning out to be such a great treat! I am really getting attached to Peter and Ava and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen with them. I was surprised by a certain evil brother more than once. If you are looking for a new vampire series, I think The Noctalis Chronicles would be a great choice.
