November 17, 2011 author post, Blog Tours, Giveaways, Guest Post 7

Today we have the author of Touch, Jus Accardo, with us today at Book Briefs. Be sure to come back next week for my review of Touch.

Comic Books Aren’t Just Toys For Boys…

I’ve always been a tom-boy. Forget the frilly dresses and dolls with pink lace. Give me grass stains and sneakers. While the other girls were playing Barbies and house, I was out on the curb waging mud wars and trading comic books.

Back then, I got the look a lot. You know exactly what I mean. That look girls get when they’re acting less than lady like. At least, that was the look *I* got. Not from my mom, though. Never from my mom. She’s always been content to simply let me be me.
Other family members tried to get me interested in girl things. Dolls. Nice clothes. Play dates with other girls to play with dolls and wear nice clothes—but it never stuck. It just wasn’t me. I was always more at home with the boys. One thing I was a sucker for, was comic books.
I loved them all. The Fantastic Four. Spiderman. The Punisher (Frank Castle is Dez’s favorite comic book badass BTW). And my all time fave, the X-Men. Stan Lee is right up there with Joss Whedon in my worship like a nerd book. I’ve got a few faves, but my real X-Men fangirling is done over Kitty Pryde AKA Ariel, Sprite, and Shadowcat. (You were totally expecting me to say Rogue, weren’t you 😉 ?)
Kitty is awesome. If I could have any X-Men ability, it would be hers. She can phase through solid matter like it’s not even there. How freaking cool would that be? Locked door? No problem. Right through the wall (this would be epic for me since I tend to lock myself out of the house at least once a month…). Plus, major bonus—Lockheed. Who doesn’t want a pet alien dragon!?

How about you guys? Like X-Men? Who is your fave?

Thank you Jus Accardo for joining us today. I LOVE X-Men too. My favorites are Professor X and Wolverine. 🙂

Touch Summary:

“When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet,seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.
Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy – and her father’s “law firm” – than she realized.
Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation – an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons – his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. Dez and Kale team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.
A secret Kale will kill to protect.”
