Breathe
Summary (from Goodreads)
Sadie White’s summer job isn’t going to be on the beach life-guarding or working at rental booths like most kids her age. With her single mother’s increasing pregnancy and refusal to work, Sadie has to take over her mother’s job as a domestic servant for one of the wealthy summer families on a nearby island.

When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie hadn’t spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house she might have been normal enough to be excited about working for a rock star.

Even though Sadie isn’t impressed by Jax’s fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax but he fights his attraction. Relationship’s never work in his world and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. By the end of the summer, Jax discovers he can’t breathe without Sadie.

But can their love overcome the disparity in their lifestyles? Or will they have to learn how to without each other breathe again?

My Review:

The last contemporary romance, or really any contemporary book that I read was disappointing to me. So I was so happy when I picked up this book and started to read it. I was immediately drawn in and I enjoyed Breathe from start to finish. This book was really cute. I think this would be a really good, fun beachy read. It is super fast paced and has a sweet romance. I thought that Sadie was a bit naive, but very likable. I would have liked her to be a little less innocent about her looks if she is as pretty as she was described to be, but I can understand why she was that way. Her mother never gave her any attention.

I loved Jax. He seemed so genuine and down to earth, and also a bit cheesy. But it was soo cute on him! I also couldn’t help but feel bad for Marcus. A spin off featuring him would be such an AWESOME book!! I can totally see him being a great main character and there is so much left undiscovered for him. I would love to read more about him, and see him get a happy ending like Sadie did.

The story in this book is so sweet and its funny, because even though the romance was meant to take center stage, I found myself so drawn to the family like dynamic that had formed around Sadie. I loved seeing all those people care about her and I enjoyed reading about her interactions with each of them.

But lets not forget about the romance. Breathe was such a sweet story about two genuinely nice people. I was so happy and satisfied with how everything turned out. This book just made me smile. And that is always nice to read something that just makes you plain happy.

A few of the cheesy moments between Jax and Sadie are the only reason I am not giving this book a 5/5. I really loved the story and thoroughly enjoyed Breathe. I can’t wait to see what else Abbi Glines has in store for us!

4/5 Gavels.

I enjoyed Breathe too. I also agree that Jax was kind of corny. There were some situations in there that were just too sweet for me. Overall, I loved Sadie, Marcus, and Jax.
