Trend: Bind-ups

I thought I would start doing discussion type posts in between some of the reviews. It has been taking me longer than usual to read for the past few weeks because all of my spare time has been devoted to studying for finals. Luckily I am almost done, and then it will be summer, which means way more reading time!
Has anyone else seemed to notice that more and more series that have been around for a few years have started to put out bind-ups of the books in the series? I have been loving this! A bind- up is when two or three (and sometimes more!) books in a series are re-printed and bound together. The best part is you get it for the price of just one paperback book! I really like bind-ups for a few reasons:
  1. You get two or three books for the price of one! Such a deal!
  2. I get to discover series that already have multiple books, for less. Sometimes they were series that I had passed up before and now that I think I can get them at a “bargain” price, I will give them a shot. I have discovered a LOT of great books this way.
  3. I get to read the books one right after another. There is nothing I hate more than finishing an amazing book, only to find out you have to wait forever to get to read the next one. (all books/series would be never-ending if it were up to me) With bind-ups you can move right onto the next book, and the next, and the next. Most of the time they are for series with at least six books published already.
  4. It looks like you are reading one massive book. For some reason I really like the way fat books look on my bookshelf. I’m not really sure why.
These are some bind-ups that I have recently purchased and have read or will be reading soon.

What do you guys think about bind-ups? Do you love them and think they are a great deal? Or, do you hate them and would prefer to have each book separately? Let me know in the comments below 🙂

  1. I like bind ups, but that’s mostly just because I like my series books to match. 🙂
And Yes! I am going to be living in the Canary Islands in June and July as a part of our Global Internship Program! I would have loved to go to Oxford though, you lucky duck!
