Two Truths and a Lie Part 2
by Eric Laster
1. Two Lies and A Truth about Eric Laster:
a. My family and I lived in one house from my birth until I was eighteen years old.

b. When I worked as a ghostwriter, I would dress for the part before sitting down at my desk every morning.

c. I prefer to write with a pencil, after which I enter changes into my computer, print up the work, and revise the printed pages (again, with a pencil). Then I enter these revisions into the computer and the
pattern repeats until a book or story is done.
Answer (highlight to reveal): Answers (a) and (b) are the lies! For answer (a), we moved around a lot, though after I was in seventh grade, we did manage to stay in one city.
2. Two Truths and A Lie about Curtis
a. He’s disgusted by animal cruelty, as every right-thinking individual should be.
b. He shows rare initiative as a kid who turns out to be good at piecing together clues to solve a crime.
c. When alone in his apartment, he sometimes dances around to Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.”
Answer (highlight to reveal): Answer (c) is the lie!
3. Two Truths and A Lie about Wilt:
a. He finds being dead a tad depressing.
b. He knows why his dad doesn’t tell anyone what he does for a living: the man’s a spy.
c. When alive, he never felt quite as self-confident as he appeared to Curtis, his younger brother.
Answer (highlight to reveal): Answer (b) is the lie!

When Curtis Brooks starts receiving phone calls from his older brother Wilt, who’s been dead a week, he’s sure it’s to help him find evidence that will lead to a murderer’s arrest. But Wilt claims he wasn’t murdered; his calling, meant to help him adjust, is standard protocol for newly deceased at the Aftermart—a kind of inescapable, ever-expanding Walmart filled with discontinued products.

Wilt’s death ruled a homicide, Curtis embarks on a dangerous plan to find the killer, which soon has him scheming against a billionaire and floundering toward love with his brother’s ex-girlfriend Suzy, all while struggling through high school and his single mom’s poor choices.

Why does Wilt help Curtis win over Suzy, even as he organizes a rebellion at the Aftermart? Who’d wanted him dead? Curtis risks his life to answer these questions, in the process forging a bond with his brother unlike any they’ve ever had.

A New Yorker by birth, Eric Laster lives in Los Angeles. After a successful stint as a best-selling ghostwriter, Eric re-launched under his own name with the middle-grade novel Welfy Q. Deederhoth: Meat Purveyor, World Savior.  Whenever he’s not scribing, he records punk rock and presses it to vinyl.

I just have to know how this character finds his brother. I want to experience through this author’s writing how it feels to have your “dead” broher call you. This sounds really good!
