My Thoughts
Studio C is a BYUtv sketch comedy series featuring Whitney, Mallory, Jason, Matt, and the rest of the cast “pulling out all the stops with enough rip-roaring hilarity to make you spit milk out of your nose. Travel back to the moment it all began and watch some of the very first Studio C sketches, plus two never-before-seen features!” <- That’s what the DVD promised when I got it. The DVD contains seasons 1 and 2, with each of the episodes being about 22-25 min.  I really liked that because you can watch an episode or two in no time. That was how I watched the first season. It started out with watching an episode or two here and there and then before I knew it was watching 4 episodes at a time. It is funny! And its appropriate for all ages, which is nice as well.
Each episode has plenty of variety. There are the normal standalone sketches, but there are also some sketches that reappear in different versions and forms later one, like the shoulder angel one. I think there is something for everyone. They even had a mime sketch and a really funny writing an email to a crush sketch. Things that are funny because they are true. That one reminded me of a young adult book vibe. (I know, I am a young adult reviewer even when I try not to be. I can’t escape it!) Did I think every single sketch was “spit milk out of my nose” funny? No, there were a few that were a flop for me, but that’s the way humor goes. And chances were, when there was a sketch that I didn’t love, the next one had me laughing out loud. And I did laugh out loud plenty while I watched the first season. I am really looking forward to the next season. It is definitely a show that I will buy for myself. I want to get a copy of all the seasons. I am a big fan of comedy. I love semi-scripted shows, sketch comedy and standup. I have seen lots of all of it, and the cast of Studio C is really talented. They can hang with the best of them.
I was really impressed with the cast of Studio C. Each person is talented and versatile. I loved seeing them play completely different characters. It’s nice that the cast is smallish because you feel like you really get to know the comedy styles of each person. I think fans of comedy will enjoy studio C, especially if you are looking something everyone in the family can watch.
