{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Kill Code by Luna Kayne

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Kill Code by Luna Kayne

Kill Code is a romantic suspense novel by author Luna Kayne. It is the first book in a trilogy. I enjoyed Kill Code. I thought some parts of the beginning were a bit slow, but overall this book was a good foundation for what is going to be an eventful trilogy. And Kill Code definitely was a novel that built as it went on. The ending was more than I expected. It certainly set us up for an interesting second novel. Kill Code follows a special forces team in search of a group of hackers. I love anything involving hackers, so I was excited to learn more about what was going on. I liked the characters, and the romance was certainly pretty steamy in parts. I liked the balance of the romantic elements with the obvious suspenseful atmosphere throughout the story. I really liked that this was a reunion of sorts for our main characters. It was cool that Jessa and jack knew each other from several years back. They… Read more »

{Release Day Review++Excerpt+Giveaway} Trapped by Rhonda Pollero

{Release Day Review++Excerpt+Giveaway} Trapped by Rhonda Pollero

Trapped is a romantic suspense novel by Rhonda Pollero. It is the third book in the Finding Justice Series. The Finding Justice series follows a set of brothers, but each of the books can be read as standalones. This was the first book in the series I have read, and I didn’t have any problems following the story and the characters. Trapped really did read like a true standalone. I enjoyed both the romance and the suspense aspect of the story, though maybe I did enjoy the romance aspect a tad bit more. Trapped follows Declan and Chasyn. I was initially attracted to this book because of the legal aspect of the story. I am a sucker for anything having to do with law. And I did enjoy the trial part of the story, but Chasyn’s character fell a little short for me. She is a paralegal, which I thought was a great tie in. But sometimes I just couldn’t figure out why she was doing some of the things she was… Read more »

{Excerpt+$150 BaubleBar💎Giveaway} Stealing Mr. Right by @Tamara_Morgan

{Excerpt+$150 BaubleBar💎Giveaway} Stealing Mr. Right by @Tamara_Morgan

We’re so excited for Tamara Morgan’s new Penelope Blue series! The first book, Stealing Mr. Right comes out on March 7th! Penelope Blue is a wanted jewel thief who’s married to Grant Emerson, a federal agent. What’s that saying? Keep your friends close…and your husband closer 🙂 To celebrate, we’re giving away a $150 gift card to BaubleBar – so you don’t have to steal precious jewels like Penelope Blue 🙂   His voice was softer than I expected: low but controlled, the sound of an authority figure who knows he doesn’t have to shout to be heard. I’ve since realized that’s the most dangerous kind of man to go up against in a fight. He didn’t bluster and yell the way Riker did, and he didn’t speak in terse rebukes, the way I remember my dad doing when I made an error in the middle of a job. Grant was all control and manners. I hadn’t expected manners. “I’ve never seen a man so intrigued by concrete before,” I… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Breaking Cage by AJ Pryor @ajpryor1

{Review+Giveaway} Breaking Cage by AJ Pryor @ajpryor1

Breaking Cage is a lot of things rolled into one book. First and foremost it is a standalone contemporary sports romance by author A.J. Pryor. But it is also a mystery and suspense story. I think this will have crossover appeal to lots of people. I think both fans of new adult as well as adult romances will enjoy Breaking Cage. I also think that fans of both mysteries and sports romances will enjoy this story, even if you only consider yourself a fan of one or the other. This is my first book by A.J. Pryor and I think she does an excellent job blending the genres together to make a really great story. Breaking Cage is Hannah and Derek’s story. I have really been into reporter stories this year. I think this is a new thing in 2016 because I have been reading tons of new adult newbie reporter stories, where hte main character is trying to land a job or trying to get their first big break… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} THE PROTECTOR by @JodiEllenMalpas @ForeverRomance

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} THE PROTECTOR by @JodiEllenMalpas @ForeverRomance

The Protector is a standalone adult romantic suspense by author Jodi Ellen Malpas. Jodi is one of those authors that I have consistently heard excellent things about, but have not had the opportunity to read myself. Now, having read The Protector, I know what all the hype is about. She can write seriously engrossing books. I could not put The Protector down. The Protector is told in dual narrative between Cami and Jake. Jake is ex military turned private whatever-is-needed, for hire. His latest assignment is playing bodyguard for Cami, the daughter of a rich businessman. I loved Cami (and Jake) but Cami really surprised me. She was nothing like what I was expecting. Normally, in rich daughter gets a bodyguard stories, the girl fits a certain stereotype. And often times that stereotype is a bratty over indulged whiny young woman. But not Cami. I loved how spunky and fiercely independent she was. I loved the storyline surrounding her start up fashion line. She was a breath of fresh air…. Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Sapphire Affair by Lauren Blakely @LaurenBlakely3

{Review+Giveaway} The Sapphire Affair by Lauren Blakely @LaurenBlakely3

✮✮✮ THE SAPPHIRE HEIST is here! From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Blakely’s book two in her contemporary romance Jewel Novel series, this enemies-to-lovers series is filled with sex, wit, glamour, and high stakes, with a rugged, ex-military, dirty-talking alpha hero! Don’t miss this explosive and passionate series! ✮✮✮   The Sapphire Heist is the second book in the Jewel series by Lauren Blakely. The Sapphire Heist is an adult romantic suspense series about bodyguards and jewel heists and all kinds of things that are sure to get your heart pumping. The novel is told in dual narrative, which is really my very favorite narration method. Nowadays, whenever I pick up a book told entirely from one person’s point of view, I find myself missing the other person.  I really enjoyed the tension in the air throughout the story, and the passion between Jake and Steph. This was a great read for me and I can’t wait for more. This is a continuation of the first book in the… Read more »

{ARC Review+Interview+Giveaway} The Gun Runner by @ScottDHildreth @CarinaPress

{ARC Review+Interview+Giveaway} The Gun Runner by @ScottDHildreth @CarinaPress

The Gun Runner is the first book in the adult romantic suspense series, called Mafia Made by author Scott Hildreth. This is the first book of Scott’s that I have had the pleasure of reading, and I have to say that The Gun Runner lived up to its’ expectation. Based on the summary, I was expecting something fast paced with high intensity and lots of sexy. It was all of those things. Fans of suspense and Mafia themed books will really enjoy The Gun Runner. It isn’t often that I get the chance to read books by male authors, and I have found that I particularly enjoy romantic suspense or mystery books written from a male perspective, because I love the high action, high intensity that they can bring. Scott Hildreth does a great job with the pacing and anticipation building in The Gun Runner. I was immediately sucked into Tripp’s company, and everything that goes with Gray market (I didn’t even know there was a gray market) weapons dealings…. Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Raw Redemption by Tessa Bailey@mstessabailey @EntangledSelect

{Review+Giveaway} Raw Redemption by Tessa Bailey@mstessabailey @EntangledSelect

Raw Redemption is the fourth book in the adult suspense series, called Crossing the Line by Tessa Bailey. Each of the books can be read as standalones, and I tested that theory because I am new to this series. Raw Redemption is a little bit different than a lot of the books I lean towards. It felt darker than most I read, and it was. But it was a keep you on the edge of your seat book. One that I really enjoyed. Raw Redemption is the story of one time cop, Henrik and Ailish. Henrik is the strong and very intense type. Raw Redemption is not what I would calla light and fluffy book. It is dark and gritty and really action packed. Know that going in. I wouldn’t bring this book to the pool. I would read it at night in bed, under covers when I wanted an action/adventure fix. It took a little bit of time for me to fall into the groove of the story because… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Society by Jodie Andrefski @2000_words @EntangledTeen

{Review+Giveaway} The Society by Jodie Andrefski @2000_words @EntangledTeen

The Society is a young adult standalone suspense by Jodie Andrefski. It deals with one of my favorite young adult subjects- a secret society in a boarding school setting. The Society took a bit of a different twist on the secret society thing. Instead of secrets to uncover from the school, this was a revenge plot. Secrets of a different kind. It was an interesting take on a secret society and it certainly was new and different. The whole thing felt very Scream Queens to me…minus the guy in the mask. Sam and Jessica are the two main characters of The Society and their relationship and dynamic was actually the most interesting aspect of the entire novel to me. Jessica is the quintessential mean girl to Sam. They used to be best friends but because of some legal issues involving their dads, they had a major falling out. Sam’s dad landed in jail, but Jessica’s family certainly did not come out of the situation unscathed. What I found to be… Read more »
