{Review+Giveaway} Romanov by Samaire Provost

{Review+Giveaway} Romanov by Samaire Provost

Romanov is a new adult paranormal by Samaire Provost. It has been a while since I have read a paranormal featuring vampires, but I was in the mood for one, so I decided to check out Romanov. I have seen a few people indicate that they were unsure that vampires were being featuring in this story, so you have been warned. This novel is about vampires. It is a feuding families type story with lots of moving parts and lots of vampires. I liked this story. It felt mysterious and it was an atmospheric read, but overall it didn’t blow me away. Don’t get me wrong, it was good. But it was lacking something to push it up over the top in my book. But let me tell you what I did like and you can see if it would be a read you would enjoy. If you are a fan of paranormals featuring vampires, then you will really like Samaire’s take on these creatures of the night. I found them to… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} When Danger Bites by Heather Long

{Review+Giveaway} When Danger Bites by Heather Long

When Danger Bites by Heather Long is the first book in the Bravo Team WOLF series. I enjoyed this book. It has been awhile since I have read an adult paranormal romance, and I forgot how much I enjoy them. When Danger Bites was a good start to the series, but it kind of felt like there was a lot of build up, and a lot of working up to the romance in this one. Overall, I liked the story, but I felt like the romance moved a little bit too slow for my liking. When Danger Bites is the story of Kat and Jax. I really, really loved Kat and Jax. I was rooting for them pretty much from the beginning, which is why I think I wanted them to get together a little faster. Because it was so clear to me they are dynamite together. Kat is sent in to join a special ops team and to figure out what is going on with them, and Jax is… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Harmful Rush by @DebraDoxer

{Review+Giveaway} Harmful Rush by @DebraDoxer

Harmful Rush is a young adult paranormal by author Debra Doxer. Harmful Rush is the third book in the Remedy series, but it can be read as a complete standalone. It follows a different group of characters and is in a college setting. I loved the first two books in the Remedy series, which followed a different couple, so I knew I had to continue on in this world where some people can heal with just a touch! Even though Harmful Rush can be read as a total standalone, I would really recommend starting with Keep you From Harm because I think it does a great job of setting up the ability and introducing you to some important characters. (we got to see them again near the end of Harmful Rush by the way and I was super excited! I love Raielle and Lucas!) In Harmful Rush we meet Sky, who has the same ability as Raielle. She can heal someone with just a touch. The ability is much more… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Firestorm by @Donna_Grant

{Review+Giveaway} Firestorm by @Donna_Grant

Firestorm is an adult paranormal romance by Donna Grant. It is the tenth book in the dark kings series. I have not read any of the previous books in the series, but they can each be read as standalones. I do have to say, I feel like this series would be better read in order. Yes, this book can work as a standalone, but I feel like I would have a much better idea of the world if I had read the previous books. That being said, I did really enjoy Firestorm. I found it to be sexy and a great read. Firestorm starts out with our main character, an archeologist, discovering a dragon skeleton. Right away I was hooked into the story. I loved Faith and I really, really loved Dimitri. I admired how determined Faith was, and I really enjoyed the back and forth between her and Dimitri. Dimitri is super interesting himself. I loved seeing his inner struggle with the human v. dragon side and the way… Read more »

{ARC Review} How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days by @KerrelynSparks @StMartinsPress

{ARC Review} How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days by @KerrelynSparks @StMartinsPress

How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days is the first book in the adult paranormal romance series, called the Embraced, by Kerrelyn Sparks. This is the first time I have read a book by Kerrelyn Sparks, and I have to say I really, really enjoyed it! Actually it was a bit of a surprise for me, because How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days started out pretty rocky for me. I wasn’t feeling the characters and the premise seemed strange, but all of that changed once the main character, Luciana left the island and got to her father’s land. From there, I was totally swept up in the story. More and more with each flip of the page. I fell in love with Luciana and Leo, and I really loved their story. Ana and Leo are not allowed to touch each other. Leo is known as the beast because he can harness the power of lightning and kills with a single touch. I thought his ability was super… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Frost by Kaitlyn Davis @DavisKaitlyn

{Review+Giveaway} Frost by Kaitlyn Davis @DavisKaitlyn

Frost is the first book in the young adult paranormal series, Midnight Ice series by author Kaitlyn Davis. The Midnight Ice series is a spin off series from her very popular, Midnight Fire series. I never read Midnight fire, but it has gotten tons and tons of rave reviews over the past few years. The series can each be read separately, but the books in each of the series do need to be read in order. They are all set in the same world and they do have some character crossover. Frost is a story about Pandora, who is a titan turned vampire. But not a titan like you are probably thinking. What intrigued me most about Frost was how mysterious the whole set up of the story was. It has been ages since I have read a vampire story, but this one felt different right from the start. There are all sorts of protectors- people who protect humans from vampires. But they are not the tradiaonal hunters. There are… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Freeks by Amanda Hocking

{Review+Giveaway} Freeks by Amanda Hocking

Freeks is a young adult paranormal by Amanda Hocking. I have read a few books in the past by Amanda and I have really enjoyed them so when I saw a book about a traveling circus and weird occurrences they face in one of the towns they stop in, I was super excited. While I don’t think I enjoyed this book as much as I did some of Amanda’s other works, I did enjoy the story in Freeks. It is a book, that even though it clocks in at 400 pages, I easily read in just a few hours. It is a very easy and quick read. While Freeks was a good read, and one that I did enjoy, it didn’t make me fall head over heels in love. Freeks follows Mara who is the daughter of a prominent psychic (yes, I know she is really a necromancer, but the circus features her as a fortune teller.) Mara has grown up in the troupe of people that make up the… Read more »

{Review} Moon Chosen by P.C. Cast

{Review} Moon Chosen by P.C. Cast

Moon Chosen is the first book in the young adult paranormal series, called Tales of a New World by author P.C. Cast. I lhave read and really enjoyed the first 6 books in her house of night series, so I was excited to give this new series a try! I really enjoyed the concept behind the book, but overall the story fell a little flat for me. I so badly wanted to love this one because the summary and the cover totally called to me. But in reality, I found the pacing kind of slow and awkward, and frankly the story was more than a little boring for most of the novel. It did pick up by the end, and I was vaguely interested in seeing where the story was going, but getting through this story took me entirely too long. I kept putting down the book and going back to it, but it never could hold my interest for more than 20 minutes at a time. (which is very… Read more »

{Review} Captivate by Vanessa Garden @vanessagarden27

{Review} Captivate by Vanessa Garden @vanessagarden27

Captivate is the first book in the Submerged Sun series by Vanessa Garden. The Submerged Sun series is a young adult paranormal fantasy featuring an underwater city and mermaids! As soon as I saw that I thought, Umm, yess! Sign me up please! I really enjoyed this one. It does have a love triangle, so I know that might be a turn off for some people (and full disclosure: if love triangles do bug you, this is a pretty big one, so you might want to skip in that case.) but I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to continuing the series. I don’t read a ton of mermaid books, but I do really enjoy them. I liked Captivate because a lot of it took place in the underwater world, and it was a very cool world, called Marin. Vanessa Garden did an excellent job with the world building in this novel. In fact, it was one of my favorite things about the book. Another great thing were the… Read more »
