{Review+Giveaway} Skies of Olympus by Eliza Raine

{Review+Giveaway} Skies of Olympus by Eliza Raine

Skies of Olympus is the first book in the Immortality trials series by author Eliza Raine. The Immortality trials is a unique series set up that I am really digging. This is a line from the summary “Join Lyssa as she takes on the deadly Trials alongside giants, centaurs, satyrs and gods in the first three of twelve episodes of this Greek mythology fantasy retelling.” Umm, yes please! Sign me up right away! It is a young adult mythology fantasy split up into twelve trials. Each of the books in the series will feature 3 of the 12 trials. Skies of Olympus features the trials of Hera, Athena and Artemis. I love a bind up of shorter stories that are interconnected because once you get going, you just fly through the pages. I will admit that this story had a bit of a slow and a tad confusing start for me. Here we meet Lyssa, our main character, and the daughter of a cruel Hercules. Lyssa is the captain of her… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Battlefield Love by Skyler Andra & Mila Young

{Review+Giveaway} Battlefield Love by Skyler Andra & Mila Young

Battlefield Love is the first book in the new adult operation cupid series by Skyler Andra & Mila Young. The operation cupid series is a mythology and fantasy romance, that has a really cool premise. You all know I am a sucker for anything mythology, and I love Mila Young’s Gods and Monster’s series so much, so I was extra excited to see what they would do with another mythology series. The coolest part of Battlefield Love is the world setup and the treatment of the gods of greek and roman mythology. I did have a small issue with one aspect of the story, but I love the setup and Battlefield Love has all of the makings and potential to be an awesome series. I can’t wait for the next book. In Battlefield Love we meet our main character, Locke is just a normal woman, until Eros (the Roman version of Cupid) pulls her into the world of Gods and their human Avatars. The concept of Avatars is one that… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Blinding Night by Chantal Gadoury @cgadoury16 @parliamentbooks

Blinding Night is the first in a new adult mythology romance series by the same name from author Chantal Gadoury. I fell in love with this novel. I started reading it casually here and there for a few minutes at a time while I was waiting for some appointments. This casual reading quickly became longer and longer periods of me being completely glued to my kindle. Eventually it turned into me totally ignoring the people I was with because I was so engrossed in the story. I am hoping that book two comes out soon because I am full on addicted to the characters and the story now. Blinding Night is a fantastic novel and I can’t wait for more from this series. Summer “Sunny” is spending her summer in Greece with her mom and dad, while the work on an archaeology dig. Blinding Night tells the story that is totally made up of little girl daydreams. A mysterious stranger appears and tells you that you are a long lost… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Apollo is Mine by Mila Young

{Review+Giveaway} Apollo is Mine by Mila Young

Apollo is Mine is the first book in the Harem of the Gods series by Mila Young. This is the first book I have read from Mila, but it certainly won’t be my last. I think you guys all know by now that I am a sucker for anything greek mythology related. And when you combine that with my love for a swoony romance, well, you pretty much have a Michelle approved hit on your hands. Which is exactly what I found reading Apollo is Mine. I loved this novel and I am already itching for the next book in the series. The set up of the series is super interesting to me. This book is set in modern times. Zeus has given Elyse Lowe and her whole family line some of the Gods abilities. They are given those abilities to help fight monsters and demons on earth. Elyse is the last remaining member of her family, so the task of fighting all of these monsters now falls on her shoulders. That… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Between the Blade and the Heart by @Amanda_Hocking @wednesdayBooks

{Review+Giveaway} Between the Blade and the Heart by @Amanda_Hocking @wednesdayBooks

Between the Blade and the Heart is the first book in a new young adult norse mythology duology by Amanda Hocking. It is called the Valkyrie duology and the second part is due out in April of this year, which is super nice because you don’t have to wait very long in between the two books. This is perfect for me because I am already itching to find out what is going to happen next. Between the Blade and the Heart was a great read. It is the kind of book that kept getting better and better. It took me about 50 pages or so to get into the story, but after that point I was totally hooked. Between the Blade and the Heart follows our main character, Malin, who is a Valkyrie in training. But right as she nears the end of her training, she finds out a secret that kind of shakes everything she believes in. This secret sets her off on a quest with the help of her ex,… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Berserker by Emmy Laybourne @FierceReads

{Review+Giveaway} Berserker by Emmy Laybourne @FierceReads

Berserker is a young adult norse fantasy novel by Emmy Laybourne. Emmy Laybourne is an author with such diverse skills. She has written apocalyptic stories, fantasy stories, monster stories and I have to say I am a huge fan of hers. My favorite book of hers is Sweet, but Berserker was a good read as well. The description of Berserker immediately caught my attention. I love anything having to do with mythology, and norse mythology is super interesting to me. Plus, the tag line is killer- “Are Hanne’s powers a gift from the old Norse gods, or a curse?”. I was instantly intrigued. What are her gifts? Berserker is told in multiple points of views. Hanne is our main character, but we also get to meet her siblings, and Owen, a cowboy from the west. Which brings me to the thing that I enjoyed most about this book, and what I am excited to see explored more in upcoming novels. I loved the dual setting. Berserker takes place both on… Read more »

{Release Day Review} #Hades by Elda Lore @lbdunbarwrites

{Release Day Review} #Hades by Elda Lore @lbdunbarwrites

Hades is the first book in the new adult paranormal romance series, called the Modern Descendants, by author Elda Lore. Elda Lore is the alter ego of author L.B. Dunbar, and she writes mythology based romances. Which happen to be a personal favorite of mine. I really enjoyed Hades, and I can’t wait to see what Elda Lore has in store for us next. I love all greek and roman mythology, but if I had to pick one story as my favorite, especially if we are talking about a story that can be turned into a romance, Hades and Persephone take the cake for me, hands down. I just love everything that comes along with their story. I love the underworld, I love the dynamics between the two of them, and I love that there are a million different characterizations each of the characters can take. Hades does a great job at both staying true to the legends but making everything feel modern and fresh, with a big twist. What… Read more »
