{Review+Giveaway} Exile for Dreamers by Kathleen Baldwin @KatBaldwin @TorTeen

{Review+Giveaway} Exile for Dreamers by Kathleen Baldwin @KatBaldwin @TorTeen

Note: This is the second book in a series that must be read in order. If you are new to the Stranje House series, check out my review of book one, A School for Unusual Girls HERE ————— Exile for Dreamers is the second book in the Stanje House series by Kathleen Baldwin. I absolutely loved, the first book in the series, A School for Unusual Girls, and this book was even better than the first book. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Georgie and Lord Wyatt, but I really really adore the setup of this series. Each of the books is told from one of the five Stranje House girls point of views. Book one was Georgie, book two is Tess and book three will be Jane. I just love that idea. The series follows a single timeline and the events of the books take place one right after another, so the series must be read in order. But from each book we get to see… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} A School for Unusual Girls by Kathleen Baldwin @KatBaldwin @TorTeen

A School for Unusual Girls is the first book in the Stanje House series by Kathleen Baldwin. This book, and really all three books, were such a big surprise for me. I completely love them! In my post of Riders by Veronica Rossi, I spoke about about much I enjoy binge reading books one right after another, so I decided to do it again with the Stranje House series. And I freakin’ loved it! A School for Unusual Girls is such a different, in the best way, novel! It is part historical fiction, party magic, and part secret spy school. I have never read another book quite like it. One of the coolest parts of the book, is that you don’t really know what direction it is going to go in. Everything is so mysterious. You learn more and more as secrets are reveals and parts of the plot unfold. At the Stranje School, there are a group of five completely special and diverse girls. I loved learning about each… Read more »

{Review} The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty @ErinBeatyWrites @ImprintReads

{Review} The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty @ErinBeatyWrites @ImprintReads

The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty is a young adult fantasy. It is the first book in the Traitor’s Trilogy, and it is one of my favorite reads of 2017! By far. I freakin’ loved this book. I wanted to re-read it immediately after I finished it. It actually took me 4 days to read because I kept forcing myself to stop because I didn’t want it to be over. I need the second book ASAP. (I have re-written this review twice now, because every time I look at it, it feels super gushy. But I’m not toning it down any further because I want to share my excitement for this book. I seriously loved it so much!) The Traitor’s Kiss is the story of Sage Fowler, a young lady who ends up as a matchmaker’s apprentice/secret spy when she doesn’t wish to be wed herself. The book is told in multiple perspectives, including Sage’s, and some of the soldiers they encounter. Sage accompanies the matchmaker for her country along… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Air and Ash by @AlexLidell ‏

{Review+Giveaway} Air and Ash by @AlexLidell ‏

Air and Ash is the first book in the Tides series by author Alex Lidell. The Tides series is an epic high fantasy adventure that takes place on the high seas! Umm, yes please!! I was already kicking myself for passing an early review of Daughter of the Pirate King and I have been kicking myself ever since. I was not going to miss out on all the swashbuckling fun in another highly anticipated pirate adventure. And Air and Ash did not disappoint. I absolutely loved this adventure. I loved everything about it! I loved the characters and I really really loved the world building that Alex Lidell created. Trust me, Air and Ash is a book you do not want to miss. I absolutely loved our heroine, Nile. Yes, she is a princess, but she is kick ass! Seriously, She does not turn away from hard work or unfavorable odds. I loved her determination. Nile does not have it easy, but she always faces what is thrown at her… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Illuminae by @AmieKaufman & Jay Kristoff @misterkristoff

{Review+Giveaway} Illuminae by @AmieKaufman & Jay Kristoff @misterkristoff

Illuminae is the first book in the young adult series, The Illuminae Files #1 by author duo Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff. I think I am one of the last people in the world to finally jump on board and read Illuminae. Now that the paperback version of the book is coming out, and book 3 in the series is coming out later this year, I knew it was finally time to read book one. I have heard nothing but amazing things about the book, and I have heard the series being called different enough times, that I had to see for myself. And now I can confidently say…I am a huge Illuminae fan! This book is so awesome. I know it has been said a lot, but the format of this series is like nothing else I have ever read. I absolutely loved it. It has to be super difficult to write and put together because I could tell how complicated and detailed the world is. I mean the… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Checkmate: This is Effortless by @KennedyFoxBooks

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Checkmate: This is Effortless by @KennedyFoxBooks

Checkmate: This is Reckless is the fourth book in the Checkmate series and the second book in the duet about drew & Courtney. The checkmate series is by the fantastic writing duo known as Kennedy Fox. No one seems to know the identity of this mysterious author duo, but I am offering a reward of endless cookies if someone can tell me who they are. I promise, I am very good at keeping a secret. 😉 😉 I read, and totally LOVED loved loved  Checkmate: This is War, book one in the series. Books 1 and 2 are Viola and Travis’ story, and books 3 and 4 are Drew and Courtney’s story. You can read either one of the duets first, but they are all so wonderful, you are going to want to read them all! So if you are new to the series, I recommend reading them all in order. But you must read book 3, This is Reckless before you read book 4. This is Effortless is the… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} It Happened on Love Street by @LiaRileyWrites @ForeverRomance

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} It Happened on Love Street by @LiaRileyWrites @ForeverRomance

It Happened on Love Street is first book in the adult series, called the Everland, Georgia series. I  really loved Lia Riley’s new adult romance, With Every Breath, so I was super excited to pick up this new series by her. It Happened on Love Street is an adult contemporary romance set in a small town. I could very easily see this appealing to both fans of new adult and adult. The main character, Pepper is a recent law school grad who relocates for a clerkship. So I think she bridges the gap between new adult and adult. (But maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part. Maybe she is firmly in the adult camp, and I am just wishing myself her to be younger. ) It Happened on Love Street has all the charm of a small town romance…all the busy bodies and quirks that I love. And it has really excellent characters. I love when the author takes some time developing a robust cast of secondary character when the book… Read more »

{Review+Excerpt} Mixed up by @EmmaHartAuthor

{Review+Excerpt} Mixed up by @EmmaHartAuthor

Mixed Up is a standalone contemporary romance by Emma Hart. I read, and really enjoyed Being Brooke, another one of Emma’s contemporary romances. I thought Being Brooke was hilarious and I was really looking forward to seeing if Mixed Up was as sassy and fun as Being Brooke. Sometimes for me, the true test of an author is to read two or three different standalones or series, and see if I enjoy all of them. If I do, the author beings part of my auto buy or auto interest. And I am very happy to say, that I really enjoyed Mixed Up. Even more than I enjoyed Being Brooke, in fact. Mixed Up is an enemies to more trope, and I loved it. I noticed something very interesting after reading Mixed Up. I think I have a new found thing for books featuring chefs. My last 5 star read was The Opposite of You by Rachel Higginson, and that book was also an enemies to more read featuring two chefs…. Read more »

{Release Day Review} The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan @Kris10Callihan

{Release Day Review} The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan @Kris10Callihan

The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan is the fourth book in the Game on series. in 2014, I read, and TOTALLY LOVED the first book in the series, The Hook Up. I mean, really loved it. I always meant to continue on with the series, but life and other books just kept getting in the way. Fast forward to 2017, and I see another book by Kristen float into my email, and I immediately pounce. The books in the Game on Series can each be read as standalone because they each feature different characters. The first book (and I think books 2 and 3) feature college football players, but the fourth book is set in the same world, at the same time as the previous books, but it features a professional NFL player. The Hot Shot is told in dual narrative between Chess and Finn. Chess is a photographer, and she meets Finn first when she has to take some rather racy pictures of him and his teammates. This… Read more »
