{Review} Under the Hood by Sally Clements @sallywriter @entangledpub

Today I have my review of the first book in the Under the Hood trilogy, but the trilogy has just been released in a box set and is on sale for $0.99 so be sure to grab a copy for yourself! Under the Hood is the first book in the Under The Hood trilogy by Sally Clements. The Under the Hood trilogy is an adult contemporary romance series that follows a group of female mechanics working at an all female garage. Each of the books can be read as standalones, but they are set in the same world. And right now, you can grab a box set of all of the books for 99 cents!(it’s such a steal, btw!) I love the idea behind the Under the Hood garage. It is set up to cater towards female clients, who might feel intimidated or taken advantage of at garages with male mechanics because they may not know the questions to ask. And what I loved even more is that they offer… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Mind Mates by @MaryHughesBooks @Barclay_PR

{Review+Giveaway} Mind Mates by @MaryHughesBooks @Barclay_PR

Mind Mates is the second book in the Pull of The Moon series by Mary Huges. I had no idea that this wasn’t the first book in the series while I was reading it, but it does make sense because there are a lot of terms and things going on. But Mary does include a glossary of terms at the start of the book to help you keep foreign words in order, which I really appreciated. I enjoyed Mind Mates. It is a quick paranormal romance read dealing with wizards and shifters and a nice little action adventure mystery. Mind Mates alternates between Emma, a wolf shifter, and Gabriel’s, a wizard, point of view. I do wish the point of view shifts were a little better labeled, but overall it wasn’t too hard to keep track of who was speaking or thinking. I really liked Emma and Dr. Light. I loved that Dr. Light is a big ole techie. And Emma is pretty quirky and cute herself. They make a… Read more »

{Review} UNSCRIPTED JOSS BYRD by Lygia Day Peñaflor

{Review} UNSCRIPTED JOSS BYRD by Lygia Day Peñaflor

Unscripted Joss Byrd is author Lygia Day Peñaflor’s debut novel. I found Unscripted Joss Byrd to be a very interesting read. One that I don’t see too much of in young adult literature. I think the fact that the novel draws on Lygia’s firsthand experience as a teacher for young Hollywood stars adds a level of credibility that made me feel like what I was reading was part expose and part fiction. I consider Unscripted Joss Byrd to be young adult fiction because of the maturity and nature of some of the situations and themes, however the main character is a little on the young side. I think I would have preferred Joss to have been a couple of years older. In the end, it worked out alright because I think Hollywood ages you so much that you end up being older than your years, but that was my main hold back with the story. What I loved the most about Unscripted Joss Byrd was that I felt like we… Read more »

{ARC Review+Interview+Giveaway} The Gun Runner by @ScottDHildreth @CarinaPress

{ARC Review+Interview+Giveaway} The Gun Runner by @ScottDHildreth @CarinaPress

The Gun Runner is the first book in the adult romantic suspense series, called Mafia Made by author Scott Hildreth. This is the first book of Scott’s that I have had the pleasure of reading, and I have to say that The Gun Runner lived up to its’ expectation. Based on the summary, I was expecting something fast paced with high intensity and lots of sexy. It was all of those things. Fans of suspense and Mafia themed books will really enjoy The Gun Runner. It isn’t often that I get the chance to read books by male authors, and I have found that I particularly enjoy romantic suspense or mystery books written from a male perspective, because I love the high action, high intensity that they can bring. Scott Hildreth does a great job with the pacing and anticipation building in The Gun Runner. I was immediately sucked into Tripp’s company, and everything that goes with Gray market (I didn’t even know there was a gray market) weapons dealings…. Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} One Week to Score by Kate Meader @kittymeader @BrazenBooks

{Review+Giveaway} One Week to Score by Kate Meader @kittymeader @BrazenBooks

One Week to Score is the third book in the Tall, Dark, and Texan series by Kate Meader. The series is a group of interconnected standalones. The characters cross over but the stories can all be read independently. One Week to Score is the first book in the series that I have read. I am a sucker for a brother’s best friend trope, so I knew I had to read One Week to Score. And I was really glad that I did. Not only did I enjoy it immensely, but it made me want to grab Brody’s story next. Olivia and Flynn go way back. Then they didn’t speak for years and were both engaged to other people. One Week to Score picks up on Olivia’s wedding day as it all falls apart before it even gets started. Insert Flynn to pick up the pieces, against Olivia’s wishes. I loved the fun, bickering dynamic between the two of them. And it only gets hotter as they get closer. Flynn does… Read more »

{Review} Like a Boss by Logan Chance @BrotherChance

{Review} Like a Boss by Logan Chance @BrotherChance

Like a Boss is the first book in the adult contemporary romance Like a Boss duet series by Logan Chance. I hardly ever get the opportunity to read a romance book written by male author, so I was super excited for Like a Boss. I really liked the story. I loved the back and forth bickering between the two main characters, Theo and Penny. Watching them fight was my favorite part of the book. Like a Boss is a quick read that will leave you wanting more. Theo and Penny meet one night when she is all dressed up in a wig (and I guess contacts?) and even though neither one of them can get the other out of their heads, when they finally meet up again. This time Penny is a bartender in Logan’s new bar- he has no idea who she is. I found it hard to believe that he didn’t recognize her right away, and certainly after he was around her more, but he didn’t. What I… Read more »

{Review} Where Sleeping Dragons Lie by Cristina Rayne

{Review} Where Sleeping Dragons Lie by Cristina Rayne

Where Sleeping Dragons Lie by Cristina Rayne is part of the Skeleton Key book series. I really love the set up of this series. It is a group of almost 30 authors, each one writing a book featuring a skeleton key that unlocks a secret world. But all of the books are vastly different. Different themes, different age groups and different sub genres. I just love that idea. So whether you like young adult, new adult or adult, you will be able to find a book for you. If you want to know more information about the series you can check out the website dedicated to the books. Skeleton Key Book Series One Skeleton Key. Endless Adventures. https://skeletonkeybookseries.com Where Sleeping Dragons Lie is an interesting book in the Skeleton Key series. I liked how different it felt from the other 5 or so books I have read in the series. First of all, this one was very much an action adventure. Second, a lot of the book took place in our… Read more »

{Review} A Midsummer Night’s Fling by Eliza Walker @AuthorEliza

{Review} A Midsummer Night’s Fling by Eliza Walker @AuthorEliza

A Midsummer Night’s Fling is the first book in the contemporary romance Much Ado About Love series by Eliza Walker. I think this book will appeal to fans of both new adult and adult fiction, though technically I think it is cast as adult fiction. The characters are young enough that they can fall into either category. A fun fact about this book is that it is from a new publishing house from romance author powerhouse Marie Force. I enjoyed A Midsummer Night’s Fling, and I cannot wait to see what the next books from this publishing house will be. A Midsummer Night’s Fling is told in dual narrative between Nicola and Max. Nicola and Max have some serious history, so I suppose you would categorize this book as second chance love, but really, it is like 5th chance love. They have had the kind of relationship that goes on for so long and goes through so many ups and ugly downs that it felt very, very realistic. I think everyone knows at least… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Raw Redemption by Tessa Bailey@mstessabailey @EntangledSelect

{Review+Giveaway} Raw Redemption by Tessa Bailey@mstessabailey @EntangledSelect

Raw Redemption is the fourth book in the adult suspense series, called Crossing the Line by Tessa Bailey. Each of the books can be read as standalones, and I tested that theory because I am new to this series. Raw Redemption is a little bit different than a lot of the books I lean towards. It felt darker than most I read, and it was. But it was a keep you on the edge of your seat book. One that I really enjoyed. Raw Redemption is the story of one time cop, Henrik and Ailish. Henrik is the strong and very intense type. Raw Redemption is not what I would calla light and fluffy book. It is dark and gritty and really action packed. Know that going in. I wouldn’t bring this book to the pool. I would read it at night in bed, under covers when I wanted an action/adventure fix. It took a little bit of time for me to fall into the groove of the story because… Read more »
