{Review+Giveaway} Beard Science by Penny Reid @ReidRomance

{Review+Giveaway} Beard Science by Penny Reid @ReidRomance

As soon as I read Beauty and the Mustache by Penny Reid, and I was introduced to the 6 Winston Brothers, I was hooked. I knew that I wanted to read their stories. And then I read Truth or Beard, and I loved that even more. There is not a Penny Reid book that I don’t love. And what I love even more is her writing. No one writes romance like Penny Reid. Her books are always witty, gripping and so, so, much fun to read. Beard Science is the third book in the Winston Brothers series. I loved Duane and Jessica’s story, but I missed the second book in the series (which I need to read ASAP). Beard Science features Cletus and Jennifer (known around town as the Banana Cake Queen.) If I thought that I loved Duane and Jessica, somehow they didn’t hold a candle to Cletus. I don’t know how Penny does it, but she just makes me love each brother more than the last one! I remember… Read more »

{Release Day Review} #Hades by Elda Lore @lbdunbarwrites

{Release Day Review} #Hades by Elda Lore @lbdunbarwrites

Hades is the first book in the new adult paranormal romance series, called the Modern Descendants, by author Elda Lore. Elda Lore is the alter ego of author L.B. Dunbar, and she writes mythology based romances. Which happen to be a personal favorite of mine. I really enjoyed Hades, and I can’t wait to see what Elda Lore has in store for us next. I love all greek and roman mythology, but if I had to pick one story as my favorite, especially if we are talking about a story that can be turned into a romance, Hades and Persephone take the cake for me, hands down. I just love everything that comes along with their story. I love the underworld, I love the dynamics between the two of them, and I love that there are a million different characterizations each of the characters can take. Hades does a great job at both staying true to the legends but making everything feel modern and fresh, with a big twist. What… Read more »

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Confessions of an Undercover Girlfriend by Kay Marie @daviskaitlyn

{Mini Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Confessions of an Undercover Girlfriend by Kay Marie @daviskaitlyn

Note: This is the second book in a series that must be read in order. If you are new to the series, check out my review of book one: Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! HERE ** Confessions of an Undercover Girlfriend is written by ya author Kaitlin Davis, writing new adult as Kay Marie. This book is the second book in the series and it must be read after book one: Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! I really enjoyed the first book, and this one was no different. It is a hilarious read. I honestly don’t know any other way to describe it. I struggled with this review because every other sentence I wrote kept repeating how funny and witty and quirky this book was. So I decided to scrap that whole long meandering and honestly just repetitive review and write a mini review instead, telling you that this book is funny and a great time and you should read it. Period. End of story. Confessions of an Undercover… Read more »

{ARC Review} Tonic by Staci Hart @imaquirkybird

{ARC Review} Tonic by Staci Hart @imaquirkybird

Tonic is a new adult romantic comedy by Staci Hart. I would put this one more in the vein of a contemporary romance because it takes some time for the comedy part of the romantic comedy to gear up. But either way, I loved Tonic. I was in the mood for a really great romance and it totally hit the spot. I have been wanting to read another Staci Hart book for a while now, because I knew that I would really enjoy it and I was right. She is right up there with Penny Reid and Meg Cabot as my romance go to authors. I loved the perspective that Tonic took. I am a reality tv show junky and Tonic is about a tattoo shop that is getting it’s own reality show. But the story itself is told in dual narrative between Annika and Joel. Joel is the shop owner and Annika is a tv show producer. That is the interesting perspective I am talking about. I think it… Read more »

{ARC Review+Giveaway} Extraordinary October by @DianaWagman

{ARC Review+Giveaway} Extraordinary October by @DianaWagman

Extraordinary October is a young adult fantasy/paranormal romance by author Diana Wagman. I had a lot of fun with this one. It was not without some faults, but overall it was a good read. I don’t get to read too many books featuring trolls, so I liked the combination of trolls and Fairies in Extraordinary October. I also loved that the main character’s name was October. I thought that was very unique, even if she doesn’t like it as much as I did. (plus, I love the month of October.) October is the daughter of a troll princess and a fairy prince, making her a very important ruler in both worlds. However, she doesn’t know about any of this. The trolls and the fairies don’t get along very well so there is a big fight over October, though maybe not in the way you are imagining. What I liked most about Extraordinary October is that the book did not take any of the paths I thought it would. I expected… Read more »

{Review} The Fix Up by @KendallRyan1

{Review} The Fix Up by @KendallRyan1

The Fix Up is a standalone contemporary romance by Kendall Ryan. Even though this book works as a complete standalone it is a spin off novel of Kendall’s Hitched trilogy. It takes place in the same universe and the characters are friends of the main couple from Hitched, Olivia and Noah. Trust me, when I say you don’t need to read Hitched to enjoy The Fix Up. However; hitched is a great trilogy on its’ own and I would definitely recommend that you read it.The Fix Up is a really great read. I think I still enjoyed Hitched a little bit more, but this comes in as a close second. The Fix Up follows along in the same vein as Hitched, but in this case the main guy is British. He has recently come into a rather large inheritance (we are talking $50 million large) but there is a hitch (he-he) in order to receive the inheritance, he must be married. (again, let’s put aside the actually legality of this,… Read more »

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Checkmate: This is War by @KennedyFoxBooks

{Release Day Review+Giveaway} Checkmate: This is War by @KennedyFoxBooks

Checkmate: This is War is the first in the checkmate duet by author Kennedy Fox. It is an enemies to lovers story that is right up my alley. I was hooked from the very first moment I read the opening lines of the summary. I mean, come on, how could you not be? This book just screams a good time. I had so much fun reading it. Fans of bickering, fighting and URST galore will eat Checkmate: This is War right up. I cannot wait for the second half of the duet. My only complain is that I wish it was a trilogy or series instead of a duology. I want more more checkmate! Checkmate this is war is told in dual narrative between Viola Fisher and Travis King, two childhood friends turned heated enemies. I don’t know what it says about me, but I just love this kind of dynamic in stories. I think it is because the rights and low blows just crack me up. I love to… Read more »

{Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Awaken by Grace White

{Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Awaken by Grace White

*Mini Review* Awaken is Book #1 in a brand new mature Y/NA paranormal romance series, by Grace White. The series is called the Lilituria Prophecy, and it is a really great start to the series. This is a hard review for me to write spoiler free, so I am going to do a mini review and then share an excerpt with you. I think Awaken is a good start to what looks to be a really interesting series. I think lovers of Paranormal romance will really respond positively to this book and series. And I have to say, I really love the cover. I can’t wait to see what the cover for the next book in the series looks like. Daiya is such an interesting character. And for the record, I mean interesting the best possible way, not the I don’t know what else to say and she is weird way. Her powers are unique and different. A little bit like a succubus, but not exactly. She fears turning 18… Read more »

{Review} Broken God by @NazareaAndrews

{Review} Broken God by @NazareaAndrews

Broken God is an adult fantasy & mythology romance by author Nazarea Andrews. You all know how much I love Mythology, and with a beautiful cover like that, how could I turn this book down?! I really do love Apollo too, and the reason I love him being featured in stories is because he is the god of so many interesting things, so it is really great to see which of his talents so to speak that the author is going to play up. It gives a lot of flexibility to create many different versions of Apollo and still be true to his legend. I thought Broken God was excellent in that regard. I loved the relationship between Apollo and his twin sister Artemis. And we can’t forget about Iris, I really loved her too. It took me some time to find my groove and my footing while reading Broken God though. When I first started the book, I actually thought I was reading from Iris’ point of view (I… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Stroked Long by Meghan Quinn @AuthorMegQuinn

{Review+Giveaway} Stroked Long by Meghan Quinn @AuthorMegQuinn

Stroked  Long is the second book in the a new adult contemporary romance series, Stroked, by Meghan Quinn. I loved the first book, Stroked, a LOT, so I went into Stroked Long expecting to enjoy it, but I got so much more than that. This book LEVELED ME. I love this book, and Bodi so hard. It is without a doubt, the best book I have read in 2016. Hands down. I don’t even know how to adequately express my love for this book. This is not just a book for romance lovers, or a book for sports romance lovers. This is a book that everyone needs to read! I loved Reese from book one, but Bodi made me say Reese who? I can’t even decsribe how deep my love for Bodi and Stroked Long goes. This book affected me on a very deep level. The care and liove that Meghan Quinn took describing Bodi’s struggles were evidence on every single page. I have seen so many books with OCD characters, and… Read more »
