{Release Day Review} Tap That by @jen_blackwood and @RC_Boldt

{Release Day Review} Tap That by @jen_blackwood and @RC_Boldt

Tap That is a standalone romantic comedy from authors Jen Blackwood and RC Boldt. This is the first book I have read by this author combo, though I have read individual books from both authors and I have really enjoyed them. Tap That is a book that takes place in a brewery and it is a good ole fashioned co-workers romance that was a whole lot of fun! I really enjoyed this book and I hope to see more from this author combo in the future. Reid and Callie are both after a promotion at work. I really liked reading about their competition and eventually about their chemistry and romance. The work place setting and the characters sold this story for me. I loved the laid back brewery setting. But then you take that and pit it against the competition Reid and Callie face going after the same position. It all worked really well for me. Throw in some steamy times and some well placed humor and this book was… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Romanov by Samaire Provost

{Review+Giveaway} Romanov by Samaire Provost

Romanov is a new adult paranormal by Samaire Provost. It has been a while since I have read a paranormal featuring vampires, but I was in the mood for one, so I decided to check out Romanov. I have seen a few people indicate that they were unsure that vampires were being featuring in this story, so you have been warned. This novel is about vampires. It is a feuding families type story with lots of moving parts and lots of vampires. I liked this story. It felt mysterious and it was an atmospheric read, but overall it didn’t blow me away. Don’t get me wrong, it was good. But it was lacking something to push it up over the top in my book. But let me tell you what I did like and you can see if it would be a read you would enjoy. If you are a fan of paranormals featuring vampires, then you will really like Samaire’s take on these creatures of the night. I found them to… Read more »

{Review} The Upside to Being Single by Emma Hart @EmmaHartAuthor

{Review} The Upside to Being Single by Emma Hart @EmmaHartAuthor

The Upside to Being Single is a romantic comedy by author Emma Hart. This book was a ton of fun, from the New Orleans setting to the awesome banter between the main character and her boss. The Upside to Being Single is currently listed as a standalone, but the main character, Mellie has two best friends who are pretty much additional main characters Peyton and Chloe. Peyton is getting her own book, which is the start of the upcoming Experiment series, and Chloe’s story is slated to be the second book in that duet, so in my mind this is really the first book in the set of interconnected standalone trilogy for Mellie and her friends. I really enjoyed The Upside to Being Single. It is full of humor and lots of unresolved sexual tension. IN fact, there may have been just a tad too much of it. I felt like by the time something actually happened between Mellie and Jake, the book was almost over. That bummed me out a little… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Dear Dwayne, With Love by @eliza_gordon

{Review+Giveaway} Dear Dwayne, With Love by @eliza_gordon

Dear Dwayne, With Love is a standalone romantic comedy by the hilariously funny Eliza Gordon. Eliza’s book, Must Love Otters is one of my favorite romantic comedies. It is so seriously awesome, I recommend it to everyone. I am such a big fan of her books, that I read them all! She never fails to crack me. Her books always feature relateable, quirky characters and an adorable heart racing romance. They are the epitome of funny, feel good reads. And Dear Dwayne, With Love is no different. I was drawn into this story from the very first page. Dear Dwayne is the story of Dani, a girl who is a self proclaimed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson fanatic. She has been writing letters to Dwayne for the better portion of her teenage and adult life. Let me tell you, her letters completely cracked me up. She even forms responses and has conversations with Dwayne in her head, which are equally funny. We get to watch as Dani balances her real life with… Read more »

{Release Day Review} Awkward. by @LilyKate_author

{Release Day Review} Awkward. by @LilyKate_author

Awkward is a standalone romance by author Lily Kate. I have read one of Lily Kate’s other books, and I really enjoyed it, so when I saw this best friends romance about an awkward doctor, I knew I had to read it. Awkward is kind of my thing. Plus, I really do enjoy best friends romances. Awkward was a really fun read. Great for fans of funny slow burn romances with lots of mishaps and plenty of heart. Awkward is the story of Dr. Jack Darcy and his best friend Allie. I loved watching Allie and jack together. Allie is trying to help Jack become less awkward around new women, so he can find his match. But of course both Jack and Allie have feelings for each other and they haven’t acted on them because they are oblivious to the other one. If I am honest with myself, this is my least favorite set up for a best friends romance trope, because most of the time it is so obvious…. Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Death Island by @kelseyketch

{Review+Giveaway} Death Island by @kelseyketch

Death Island is a new adult fantasy by author Kelsey Ketch. Death Island is a pirate adventure that is filled with intrigue and mythology. I enjoyed this novel overall. It was a lot of fun. I love a quest style adventure. I love pirates and I love mythology, so those elements of the story were right up my alley. I believe Death Island is slated to be a standalone, but the ending did leave open the possibility for some more exploration in this world that Kelsey Ketch has created. There were a lot of things I really enjoyed about Death Island and a few things that held me back from totally falling in love with the story, but let’s start with all the elements that I really enjoyed. First, I loved the main character, Meriden. She is spunky and fiery and a great adventure heroine. She was always up for whatever was thrown her way, which was evidenced by the fact that right in her first chapter she went from waking… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Exposure by Sylvie Parizeau

{Review+Giveaway} Exposure by Sylvie Parizeau

Exposure is the third book in the Incandescent series by author Sylvie Parizeau. Each of the books in the Incandescent series can be read as standalones, but they are all set in the same world and there is some character overlap, so you would probably be best served if you read the books in order. I am going to be completely honest with you. I had every intention of reading the books in order, but the end of the year (and Thanksgiving totally snuck up on me, and I didn’t have a chance to read either books one or two.) But, the silver lining here is that I wasn’t lost or confused while reading Exposure. And I really enjoyed P.O.’s story, so now I am even more excited and determined to read the first two books because I am sure they are going to be just as awesome as this one. Exposure is Philippe-Olivier Tisserot, or P.O. for short, and Auréle’s story. PO is seriously one of my favorite characters… Read more »

{Review} The Soul Mate by @KendallRyan1

{Review} The Soul Mate by @KendallRyan1

The Soul Mate is the fourth book in the roommates series by Kendall Ryan. The roommates series are each standalone contemporary romances. I loved book one, the Room Mate, and book two, The Play Mate. I liked the third book, The House Mate, but maybe not every bit as much as books 1 and 2. It was a pretty close call though. The Soul Mate fell somewhere in the same region as the third book. I love the characters, but the pregnancy plot is not always a hit with me. I will give it to Kendall Ryan, though, she took a really interesting take on the story and I really enjoyed where this one went. Overall, it was a feel good read and a great romance, just like all of Kendall’s stories. The Soul Mate is the story of Mason and Bren. They meet one night Mason fell a lot harder than Bren did. Bren scampers away and leaves Mason wanting more. But then a potential baby complication inserts itself… Read more »
