{Review+Giveaway} Make Me Stay by Rebecca Brooks @BeccaBooks @BrazenBooks

{Review+Giveaway} Make Me Stay by Rebecca Brooks @BeccaBooks @BrazenBooks

Make Me Stay is the first book in the Men of Gold Mountain series by Rebecca Brooks. Make Me Stay is an adult contemporary romance. I really enjoyed the first book in the Men of Gold Mountain series, and I can’t wait to read the next book. It is a new spin on a familiar concept, one that I have seen done more in romantic comedy movies rather than in books, so it was fun for me to read about it. In this case Sam Kane was a developer wanting to buy land on the mountain to develop a ski community and finish out her father’s dream, but the concept can be used for anything. It goes like this, two people have never met but one is mad at the other one because that other one is trying to make them do something they don’t want to do (in this case sell his land). Two individuals meet but one or both of them don’t know who the other is. They like… Read more »

{Review} Worked Up by Tessa Bailey @mstessabailey @BrazenBooks

{Review} Worked Up by Tessa Bailey @mstessabailey @BrazenBooks

Worked up is the third book in the adult contemporary Made in Jersey series by Tessa Bailey. I loved this book so hard. I stayed up until 2 am reading, and it is the first thing that has put a smile on my face in days. (it has been a tough couple of days…) Worked up works well as a standalone. I have not read either of the previous two books in the Made in Jersey series, and while we do see glimpses of the couples, they do not distract from Duke and and Sam’s story. The focus is always on the two of them. Worked up is the perfect beach or poolside read for people looking for a romance as hot as the Florida sun. Worked up is told in dual narrative bewteen main characters Duke and Sam. Duke is always taking care of everyone around him. His best friend’s family lives with him, and he is resident babysitter to their four year old daughter. And Duke’s four divorcee… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Seducing the Boss by Mari Carr

{Review+Giveaway} Seducing the Boss by Mari Carr

Seducing the Boss is an adult contemporary romance by Mari Carr. I picked this book up because I loved the summary, but I didn’t love the title (still don’t because I don’t believe that really fits the tone of the story) and I don’t love the cover, but I wanted to give it a shot because the summary sounded like it would be a cute romance that I would enjoy. I think I should have trusted my gut on this one, because while I did like it a little, I didn’t love it. I will say that I seem to be the odd one out on this opinion because on goodreads everything I saw was 4 or 5 stars. Seducing the Boss is told in dual narrative between Sara and Kellum. I think part of my problem is that I just didn’t love Kellum. I know, go ahead and stone me now, but I found him to be kind of a shallow jerk. Especially at the start of the story,… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Playing by Her Rules by @AmyAndrewsbooks @BrazenBooks

Playing by Her Rules is the first book in a new contemporary romance series, called the Sydney Smoke Rugby series, by Amy Andrews. I suppose you could call this a second chance at love novel, but it is like an ex novel. I really liked the story line in this one, because surprisingly it is one that I have not seen done much. Matilda is a writer, and she gets assigned to cover one of her ex-boyfriend’s rugby team- sparks fly. And I don’t necessarily mean positive sparks. I loved how feisty Playing by Her Rules was. It was so much fun to read! I have to say, the whole cover makes Tanner seem all kinds of devilish. And at first glance, I can’t say that description is too far off. But make no mistake, Matilda can more than hold her own. She is not letting go of the past, even though Tanner is determined to get her to change her mind. It was a battle of wills between these… Read more »

{Review+Kindle Fire Giveaway} Seducing the Fireman by @jbondswrites @Barclay_PR

Seducing the Fireman is the third book in the risky business series by Jennifer Bonds. I have not read any of the previous books in the series yet, but  it is my understanding that they are really standalones and I don’t think that any of the characters overlap. Either way, I had no problem following the story or characters in Seducing the Fireman. It was a nicely wrapped up contemporary romance. I had a great time reading Seducing the Fireman. It made me want to read the other books in the Risky Business series. Seducing the Fireman is told in dual narrative between Becca (AKA Frankie) and Jax. I really liked Jax. I think the book name is a bit misleading because it sure seemed to me that Jax was the one trying to win Becca over the whole time. She is a stubborn little thing. A bit too stubborn in my opinion. I liked her, but honestly she dealt out her fair share of abuse to Jax- from standing… Read more »
