{Release Day Review} Tap That by @jen_blackwood and @RC_Boldt

Tap That is a standalone romantic comedy from authors Jen Blackwood and RC Boldt. This is the first book I have read by this author combo, though I have read individual books from both authors and I have really enjoyed them. Tap That is a book that takes place in a brewery and it is a good ole fashioned co-workers romance that was a whole lot of fun! I really enjoyed this book and I hope to see more from this author combo in the future. Reid and Callie are both after a promotion at work. I really liked reading about their competition and eventually about their chemistry and romance. The work place setting and the characters sold this story for me. I loved the laid back brewery setting. But then you take that and pit it against the competition Reid and Callie face going after the same position. It all worked really well for me. Throw in some steamy times and some well placed humor and this book was… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} The Rule Maker by Jennifer Blackwood @Jen_Blackwood @EPEmbrace

{Review+Giveaway} The Rule Maker by Jennifer Blackwood @Jen_Blackwood @EPEmbrace

The Rule Maker is the second book in the New Adult (Or maybe adult- I consider this one a cross over that would appeal to readers of both age groups) in the Rule Breakers series by Jennifer Blackwood. I absolutely loved book one, The Rule Book. It reminded me of The Devil Wears Prada with a male boss, and a whole lot more romance. I really enjoyed it! So I was super excited for The Rule Maker. I really enjoyed The Rule Maker too. I think I liked The Rule Book just a tad more, but this was a great read and an awesome second book in the series. The Rule Maker is Zoey and Ryder’s story. We got to see each of them in the Rule Book, so while you can read this independently of the first book, this is a series that I think is great to read in order. Zoey is Lainey’s roommate from The Rule Book and Ryder is the the shirtless guy from the first… Read more »

The Rule Book is the first book in the New Adult (Or maybe adult- I consider this one a cross over that would appeal to readers of both age groups) in the Rule Breakers series by Jennifer Blackwood. The Rule Breakers reminded me of The Devil Wears Prada with a male boss, and a whole lot more romance. I really enjoyed it! And I want more. Specifically, I want more from this couple pairing, so I am hoping the next book is about them too. (Side note: I don’t think it will be, but I am keeping my fingers crossed anyway…) Lainey and Brogan are the two main characters. Lainey is a recent grad student looking to move up in a PR/social media management firm. Brogan is the super young CEO of the company, and he has a rule for just about everything. Including no garlic in the office. Lainey seems to think all of the rules are crazy. I really liked the setup. It felt like Devil Wears Prada… Read more »

{ARC Review+Giveaway} Foolproof by Jennifer Blackwood @jen_blackwood @EPEmbrace

Foolproof is the second book in the new adult contemporary romance series called the Drexler University Series. I didn’t know this when I first picked up the book. After digging around a bit on goodreads, I found out it was part of the series, but I was never lost while reading. Each book works as a standalone. There were a few instances where I wished that I had read the first book, Unethical, before I had read this one to get some background on the Payton and Blake stuff, especially to see where Jules tied into their whole relationship. But overall, it works well as a standalone with overlapping characters. The thing that I really liked most about Foolproof is not only is it a fast paced, get your heart pumping romance between Jules and Ryan, but it is also a growing up/deciding-what-they-want-to-do-with-their-lives journey. Each one of them faces different struggles with the age old question, “What do I want to do when I grow up?” It was interesting to… Read more »
