{Review} Nothing But Sky by Amy Trueblood

{Review} Nothing But Sky by Amy Trueblood

Nothing but Sky is a young adult novel by Amy Trueblood, set in the 1920s. I love the era of 20s, and this book embidoed that time period beautifully. Set in post world war 1, flying is still relatively new and very much for the guys. Along comes Grace who longs to be anywhere, as long as it is high up in the air, and I knew this was going to be a book that I couldn’t put down. I loved Grace. She is plucky and ambitious, and demands that you listen to her. I loved that about her. Grace is a total daredevil. She is part of “The Soaring Eagles” barnstorming team, which is a team of stunt flyers. One thing you soon learn about Grace…she has no problem setting her sights high. Both figuratively and literally. Her dream is to win the 1922 World Aviation Exposition in Chicago. I loved Grace’s journey to get to the Expo and to compete. Nothing But Sky is a read that is… Read more »

Happy Tuesday! Today I’ve decided to start participating in Top Ten Tuesday, formerly hosted by Jamie at The Broke and the Bookish, now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. For upcoming topics, and more information on Top Ten Tuesday, visit Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. ——————————– Today’s topic is:   Books to Read By the Pool/At the Beach  (This can also serve as your summer TBR) Click on the book covers for more information or to add it to your goodreads —————————– Here are some Young Adult books I’m hoping to read this summer. It’s a combination of romances and fantasies (with romance) because I am such a sucker for a good fantasy. I don’t care what time of year it is. And I am always in the mood for a good romance. Always. I’m reading Mistake of Magic right now and omgomgomg I love this series so much. It might be my favorite fantasy romance of all time. It takes the top honor on my list, but I am also super excited to… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Up to You by @Daisy_Prescott

{Review+Giveaway} Up to You by @Daisy_Prescott

Up to You  is the fourth book in the new adult contemporary romance, Love with Altitude series by Daisy Prescott. Each of the books in the series can be read as standalone contemporary romances. I read, and really enjoyed the third book in the Love with Altitude series, Wild For You. I also really enjoyed Daisy’s Wingman series, so I knew that I was going to enjoy Up to You. Daisy is a feel good contemporary author that never fails to put me in a better mood. and Up to You did not disappoint. I will be the first to admit that I am a sucker for anything involving a wedding at the moment. I mean, I always have loved a good fake relationship/need a date to a wedding book, but now that I am actually planning my wedding, I am extra excited about wedding storylines. (go figure!) Up to You is the story of Mae, Landon and Aiden. Yes, there is a love triangle going on in this novel,… Read more »

{Interview+Giveaway} CINDERELLA’S INFERNO by F.M. Boughan @FaithBoughan @Month9Books

{Interview+Giveaway} CINDERELLA’S INFERNO by F.M. Boughan @FaithBoughan @Month9Books

Today I have author F.M. Boughan here to chat about her newest book, Cinderella’s Inferno. Welcome Faith! Describe Cinderella’s Inferno in a tweet (140 characters or less) Ellison vows to save her mother’s soul from damnation in this loose retelling of Dante’s Inferno, a sequel to CINDERELLA, NECROMANCER. What is something we would be surprised to learn about Ellison? Besides what you’ll learn in the book? Hmm… oh! It occurs to me that I haven’t mentioned this anywhere: Contrary to the tradition of the animated-version of the character (you know what I’m talking about!), Ellison is not a great singer. She’s not even very good. In fact, she sounds kind of like a dying waterfowl. It’s not her fault, it’s genetic—her father is a terrible singer, too. What was different about writing this sequel, from writing Cinderella, Necromancer Like with writing any sequel, the writer enters the story with the world already formed (to a degree). So instead of shaping the world for my characters as I created the story, I… Read more »

{Interview+Giveaway} Going Places by Kathryn Berla

I am super excited to have Kathryn Berla here today to share her new novel, Going Places. She has stopped by for an interview and there is also a fun giveaway at the bottom of the post, so be sure to enter that! Thank you so much for being here today Kathryn! Describe Going Places in a Tweet (140 characters or less) Hudson chooses homeschooling as a way to coast through his senior year of high school in this coming-of-age, but fate has other plans. What is something we would be surprised to learn about Hudson? You might be surprised to learn that as a child, Hudson had a bottlecap collection and raised orchids. And after college, he became an excellent cook. What was the hardest part about writing Going Places? What was the best part? I’m very protective of Hudson who’s patterned after someone close to me, so the hardest part was allowing him to be hurt. But you can only be hurt if you open yourself to life… Read more »
