{Review+Giveaway} Cage of Darkness by Jennifer Anne Davis @AuthorJennifer

{Review+Giveaway} Cage of Darkness by Jennifer Anne Davis @AuthorJennifer

*Please note: This is a series that must be read in order. If you are new to this fantastic series, check out the first book, Cage of Deceit!* Cage of Darkness by Jennifer Anne Davis is the second in a young adult series called the Reign of Secrets series. It is a young adult fantasy series that totally rocked my world! The first book, Cage of Deceit was my favorite books of 2015. And it continues to be one of my favorite fantasy series I have ever read. It is seriously that good.  As soon as I finished the first book, I was dying and I do mean dying to get my hands on the second book. So as soon as I got an advanced copy of Cage of Darkness, I immediately went on a binge read fest. I re-read book 1, and I loved it just as much as the first time reading it. And then I dove directly into book two. I loved the disclaimer that she put on page… Read more »

{Review} 72 Hours by @BellaJewel73 @StMartinsPress

{Review} 72 Hours by @BellaJewel73 @StMartinsPress

72 Hours is a romantic suspense novel from author Bella Jewel. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Jewel and I have to say I really dug it. The suspense part was a little heavier than the romance part, but there was a still a kind of cool concept second chance romance featured in this one. All in all, if you are a fan of creepy suspense/thriller novels, you will not want to miss 72 hours. Lara and Noah used to date but they wouldn’t call each other friends now. But they are unwittingly picked to star in this creepy, and sick and creepy guy’s twisted version of a game. A life or death game. I was so icked out by the villain in this book. He is someone that will keep you up at night. That is the level of his twisted desires. I loved Lara and Noah. I thought they were really strong characters and they stood up well to the masterful suspense plot-line…. Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Zenn Diagram by @WendyJoBrant @KCPLoft ‏

Zenn Diagram is ayoung adult magical realism novel by Wendy Brant. Zenn Diagram was a super cute read that I quickly finished in one setting. It left me with a big smile on my face. It kind of reminded me of the last magical realism book I read, and loved, The Secret of  Heart Note. It was an adorable, quick and light hearted read. Zenn Diagram is the story of Eva, who is a big math lover. I found Eva totally adorable. All on her own, but when you add in her unique gift she became extra interesting. You see, Eva can touch someone and know their thoughts and feelings. But what is even cooler, she can touch an object and know someone’s emotions and experiences as it pertains to that object. For example, she can touch someone’s graphing calculator and figure out what area of math is giving them troubles and is able to help them really easily. She makes a kick butt math tutor. Seriously, I thought this… Read more »

{Review+Top 10+Giveaway} Spurt by Chris Miles @simonschuster ‏

{Review+Top 10+Giveaway} Spurt by Chris Miles @simonschuster ‏

Spurt is a young adult humorous contemporary by Chris Miles. It features a guy named Jack who has not yet gone through puberty and he decides to fake it to fit in with his friends. Stop. Stop right there, I didn’t need to read any further. Christ Miles already had me. Spurt is a hilarious book. It is a book I think will appeal to all readers of all ages and genders. I really can’t say enough good things about this book, other than it was a blast. All of Jack’s friends have either gone through or are currently going through puberty and he feels left in the dust…so he comes up with a genius idea…he can just fake puberty. I still crack up every time I think about this, because puberty is no fun for anyone, so I can’t imagine faking it is any more fun. But either way, Spurt was a hilarious ride through Jack’s various antics with his friends. The humor is spurt is at times outlandish,… Read more »

{Review} So Twisted by Melissa Marino @MelissaWrites2 @ForeverRomance

{Review} So Twisted by Melissa Marino @MelissaWrites2 @ForeverRomance

So Twisted is the first book in the bad behavior series by author Melissa Marino. The Bad Behavior series is a series of standalone contemporary romances that straddle the line between new adult and adult. I would still put them in the new adult category because the main character for So Twisted was in her twenties. But I can easily see this appealing to fans of both new adult and adult contemporary romances. So Twisted is a feel good romance and is a very quick read. It had its’ fair share of funny moments too. (And some moments that made me beyond embarrassed.) Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and I can’t wait to read books 2 and 3 of the series, both of which are already out. Binge readathon, anyone?? So Twisted is told in dual narrative between the two main characters, Callie and Aaron. Aaron is a single dad and Callie is the new live in nanny. While the overall story line is rather predictable (we all know… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

{Review+Giveaway} Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

Wintersong is a young adult magical fantasy by S. Jae-Jones. Wintersong is the story of the Goblin king. It is also a retelling of Labyrinth, but I know very little of that story so I can’t really speak on how good or bad of a retelling it was in that regard. But I can tell you that this was an enjoyable story with lots of music woven in. I liked the musical elements of the tale best. Overall, I found this story to be lacking…something…but I don’t really know exactly what it was. I’m not really sure it was that was holding me back from going from like to love with this one, but it was something. Overall though, Wintersong was a good read. I enjoyed it. Wintersong is the story of the Goblin King and Liesl. I loved the musical feel of the writing. Music plays a big part in the storyline of Wintersong but it also played a part in the flow of the story. Author S. Jae-Jones… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Blood Rose Rebellion by @RosalynEves @KnopfBFYR ‏@TheNovl

Blood Rose Rebellion is the first book in the young adult fantasy series by the same name. It is also author Rosalyn Eves debut novel, which really impressed me. Blood Rose Rebellion was an excellent read for me, and I can’t wait to journey back into this crazy world. I loved the fantasy elements a little more than the romance elements but I have a feeling book two will change my mind. I think this is a romance that is going to get better and better with each book, now that the foundation has been laid for the characters and the story. Blood Rose Rebellion tells the story of young Anna. Anna is a member of a high class Luminate family. Luminate meaning they are the wielders of magic in this world. Only Anna is barren, she can’t wield magic. But she does seem to mess up people’s spells when she is around. I loved this premise. I found it to be a breath of fresh air from the norm of magic… Read more »

{ARC Review} FIGHTING FOR LOVE by Kelly Elliott @author_kelly @ReadLoveswept

{ARC Review} FIGHTING FOR LOVE by Kelly Elliott @author_kelly @ReadLoveswept

Fighting for Love is the second book in the contemporary romance series, called Boston Love by Kelly Elliott. Each of the books can be read as standalones. Fighting For Love is my first book in the series, and I had no problem following and enjoying the story. If you like fun and relatively low drama romances, Fighting For Love is a great book for you to check out. I really liked this one, and I can’t wait to read more from Kelly Elliott. This was the perfect feel good read. Fighting For Love is the story of Rory and Finn. Finn is a firefighter and Rory is a law school graduate hoping to make her way as a new lawyer. (so it was really easy for me to put myself in her shoes…I wonder why. And also, does that mean I get to keep Finn for myself?? Please say yes Kelly!) Finn and Rory and such a great match, and  what I loved most about them was how genuine they… Read more »

{Review+Teasers+ Giveaway} The Opposite of You by Rachel Higginson @Mywritesdntbite

{Review+Teasers+ Giveaway} The Opposite of You by Rachel Higginson @Mywritesdntbite

The Opposite of You  is the first book in the adult contemporary romance Opposites Attract  series by Rachel Higginson. I flippin’ LOVED this book. It is about time I had a 5 star contemporary read and this one earned every bit of those 5 stars. It is so excellent that I want to pick it up and read it again…immediately. You know when you love a book so much you immediately want to read other books like it? Well, The Opposite of You did that to me. I am now craving a great fight/bantering dynamic, so leave me your best new adult/adult recs below. The Opposite of You is told entirely from Vera’s point of view. Vera is a trained culinary chef, a very talented one at that, but because of a troubled past she doesn’t feel like she will ever be able to have her own kitchen. So she opens up Foodie the food truck to start her dream of doing upscale comfort food. I totally want Foodie to be real… Read more »
