{Review+Giveaway} Dear Dwayne, With Love by @eliza_gordon

{Review+Giveaway} Dear Dwayne, With Love by @eliza_gordon

Dear Dwayne, With Love is a standalone romantic comedy by the hilariously funny Eliza Gordon. Eliza’s book, Must Love Otters is one of my favorite romantic comedies. It is so seriously awesome, I recommend it to everyone. I am such a big fan of her books, that I read them all! She never fails to crack me. Her books always feature relateable, quirky characters and an adorable heart racing romance. They are the epitome of funny, feel good reads. And Dear Dwayne, With Love is no different. I was drawn into this story from the very first page. Dear Dwayne is the story of Dani, a girl who is a self proclaimed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson fanatic. She has been writing letters to Dwayne for the better portion of her teenage and adult life. Let me tell you, her letters completely cracked me up. She even forms responses and has conversations with Dwayne in her head, which are equally funny. We get to watch as Dani balances her real life with… Read more »

{Guest Post+Giveaway} War World by Rod C. Spence

{Guest Post+Giveaway} War World by Rod C. Spence

Today I am really excited to have Rod C. Spence, the author of War World (which comes out on Feb 5th) He is here to share 10 things we didn’t know about him, and he has an awesome giveaway down below so be sure to enter that!  10 things you didn’t know about author Rod C. Spence I had four wisdom teeth removed when I was high school junior and I looked like a green chipmunk with lockjaw. I spent two weeks recovering and it was during this period I read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings – what I else was I going to do? It gave me a love for fantasy. I just recently devoured Ready Player One for the second time on audiobook. Most of the plotting of the novel was like a journey down memory lane for me! Zork, Planetfall and other text-based games were all we had back in the 80’s and players like me dreamed of the future and the lifelike games that… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Batman: Nightwalker by @Marie_Lu @RandomHouse

{Review+Giveaway} Batman: Nightwalker by @Marie_Lu @RandomHouse

Batman is the second book in the DC Icons series. Each of the books in the DC Icons series is written by a different author, and it features the origin story of some of the biggest superheroes (and villains) in the DC universe. I am such a huge fan of all things DC and Marvel and I love origin stories, so this series was made for me. I still need to read the first book, Wonder Woman. Now that I have read and enjoyed Batman so much, I know that Wonder Woman will be coming up on my TBR pile shortly. Batman was everything I wanted it to be. It was fun and it was really cool to see a younger, and super nice Bruce Wayne. I have a bit of a confession to make. Batman is my first Marie Lu book. Yes, I know! Please don’t throw tomatoes or rocks. I have a bunch of her books, but I haven’t read any of them. But fear not! That will… Read more »

{Release Day Review} Awkward. by @LilyKate_author

{Release Day Review} Awkward. by @LilyKate_author

Awkward is a standalone romance by author Lily Kate. I have read one of Lily Kate’s other books, and I really enjoyed it, so when I saw this best friends romance about an awkward doctor, I knew I had to read it. Awkward is kind of my thing. Plus, I really do enjoy best friends romances. Awkward was a really fun read. Great for fans of funny slow burn romances with lots of mishaps and plenty of heart. Awkward is the story of Dr. Jack Darcy and his best friend Allie. I loved watching Allie and jack together. Allie is trying to help Jack become less awkward around new women, so he can find his match. But of course both Jack and Allie have feelings for each other and they haven’t acted on them because they are oblivious to the other one. If I am honest with myself, this is my least favorite set up for a best friends romance trope, because most of the time it is so obvious…. Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Rise by Sierra Cross

{Review+Giveaway} Rise by Sierra Cross

Rise is the first book in the new adult Coven of Fire series by author Sierra Cross. It has been some time since I have read an urban fantasy and even longer since I have read an urban fantasy featuring witches, so I was really pumped to read Rise. I love new adult books that are in the fantasy and paranormal genres because there don’t seem to be too many of them. Rise did not disappoint. I enjoyed this read from start to finish. There were a few slow sections of the book, but overall, I flew through this novel and I am anxiously awaiting the second book, which is already out. In fact, the first four books were all released in 2017, which is crazy! You go Sierra Cross! Book 5 is due to come out this year. Rise follows our main characters, Alix, Callie, Matt, with some great secondary characters as well. I really enjoyed how many people were showcased in such a short book. I think that… Read more »

{ARC Review} Ink, Iron, and Glass by Gwendolyn Clare @gwendoclare @FierceReads @ImprintReads

{ARC Review} Ink, Iron, and Glass by Gwendolyn Clare @gwendoclare @FierceReads @ImprintReads

Ink, Iron, and Glass is the first book in a new duology by the same name from debut novelist Gwendolyn Clare. Ink, Iron, and Glass is a steampunk fantasy duology about a world where a type of science called scriptology exists. Scriptology is a science magic hybrid where the “scientist” can actually create a new world by scripting or writing it into existence. This concept gripped me right from the start. How awesome and complex it would be. And I was immediately intrigued to see how Gwendolyn Clare would handle such a big idea. And I have to say, she handled it really well. I loved that she didn’t water the idea of writing a world into existence. She embraced how complicated and complex it would be. You have to make it livable world. If you create a world that does not support air, then everyone in that world would die. Same with gravity, warmth, food. Creating a world was not just about writing flowery descriptions of the rolling hills and… Read more »

{Review} The Valiant by Lesley Livingston @LesLivingston @PenguinTeen

{Review} The Valiant by Lesley Livingston @LesLivingston @PenguinTeen

The Valiant is a young adult novel about a female gladiator. I was pretty much in from the very moment I saw the cover. And then I read the summary and I was really in! And then I saw the piles and piles of hype this book was getting and I was in even more. Sometimes hype makes me nervous, but I was already so convinced that I would love The Valiant that this hype just ratcheted my excitement up more. And guys, this is no ordinary hype. I am pretty sure The Valiant was the book I saw popping up on almost everyone’s top 10 books of 2017.  And I am beyond happy to report that The Valiant lived up to my very, very high expectations and even exceeded them! In The Valiant we meet Fallon, who has a vendetta against Julius Caeser for killing her sister. But before she can carry any of her plans out, she is captured and sold as a slave. She is sold to an elite training… Read more »

{Re-Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Slumber by Christy Sloat

{Re-Review+Excerpt+Giveaway} Slumber by Christy Sloat

I read Slumber when it was previously released but it has since gotten a new cover, and I believe the book has been reworked a bit! Today I am sharing the new cover of Slumber, which I absolutely love! It is a big upgrade in my opinion, as well as my thoughts on the book, an excerpt and a giveaway for a new finished copy of Slumber! Slumber is the first book in the young adult Slumber Duology by Christy Sloat. I liked Slumber, but in the end it was just an ok read for me. Slumber is a fairy tale re-telling and I loved the twist that author Christy Sloat took on the tale. It is the story of sleeping beauty but it takes place in Spindle Ridge Asylum for the Criminally Insane, where they have convinced the princess that she murdered her boyfriend. Interesting starting point, right? I thought so too, and the idea behind the story I still think is great. I think it would be better suited for younger,… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Gathering Darkness by @MorganRhodesYA @PenguinTeen

{Review+Giveaway} Gathering Darkness by @MorganRhodesYA @PenguinTeen

Gathering Darkness is the third book in the Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes. The Falling Kingdoms series has been a beloved fantasy series for years now, and with the sixth book coming out this year now is the perfect time to get caught up. I read the first book, Falling Kingdoms years ago when it first came out, but then I never continued on with the series. I own the first five books and I have been meaning to continue on for years, but I never did. Now that the sixth book is out, I have decided that a binge read was in order. So I re-read book one and then continued on to book two, three and I am currently reading book four. This is a series that must be read in order, which means that it is almost impossible to discuss plot points in Gathering Darkness without getting involved in tons of spoilers, so I will keep this review to some of the general things I am… Read more »
